Children of the Night (v.2)
This thread will include mild sexual imagery and violent behaviour. Be warned.
Montségur, France, January 1244
Alexandrine had always known something was wrong with Marcel, but she had gone along with the affair anyway. His charm and sweet words had drowned out the little voice in her head, warning her that it was strange that he only came out at night.
Montségur was under siege by Catholic forces, determined to root out the Cathars holding out there. The siege had lasted nearly seven months now, and it was obvious even now that unless reinforcements arrived, Montségur would fall. Marcel had been more restless the last few weeks, but Alexandrine assumed it was because more and more people were dying of hunger and illness.
As she pondered this, she was wandering down a street, moving towards Marcel's house. A shadow darted out from an alley. Alexandrine stiffled a scream, when she recognized Marcel. She raised her hand to greet him, but he continued towards her. As his face descended towards her neck, she saw the fangs, but had no time to react before he sank them into her neck...
New Orleans, Louisiana, May 2010
Rebecca had always felt like something was missing in her life. Her parents had been killed in a traffic accident when she was five, and she had been raised by her grandparents on her father's side along with her older sister Diana, who had been seven at the time of the accident.
Diana had moved out at age 17, gotten pregnant at age 19, and had just married her boyfriend Travis. They had moved to Baton Rouge, leaving Rebecca alone with her grandparents. They were nice enough, but they were getting old.
Rebecca had taken to going to nightclubs, looking for the missing piece. Mostly, she had found creeps looking for one night stands. She had bitten a few times, but it had never filled the empty space inside.
She had considered searching elsewhere, but then she had heard of a small obscure nightclub in the back alleys of New Orleans, Le Trou (The Pit), that should be a really cool place, at least according to a friend. She had decided to go there.
She arrived at the club, and approached the guard at the door, a large dark-skinned man. After looking at her, he opened the door for her, allowing her in in front of several others waiting. A few tried to protest, but was cut short by the glare from the doorman.
The club itself was dark but more cosy than she had expected. The dj was playing all the latest hits, but not as loud as in most other clubs. She found a table and sat down.
She didn't notice the dark-haired woman watching her from a half-hidden balcony a story up...

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
It was night time as Marco rode into New Orleans. It was a warm night, it threw him a little still. Back in Sommerville, if the sky was black, there would be a chill in the air - here it was warm and humid. He felt like he was running away, in some respects - the strange events in Sommerville should be classed as successful - Kirsten saved, though with the unfortunate fate of having to deal with having to feed, but having a guilty human conscience over it... She'd have to learn to deal with it - as he would. The mixture of lycanthrope and vampire blood washing around his veins meant anything he'd heard about when Vampires had to feed probably didn't apply to him. He could feel it though, he'd fed... He tried to resist, but eventually the craving would take him. The trick was to find a way to satisfy the craving in a way which didn't tarnish his conscience too much - before he completely succumbed to it, and lost control...
Where was Miri? She'd escaped the encounters pretty much unscathed - but what she'd seen... She'd be okay - the truth was, despite being a mortal she seemed to cope much better with the twisted world they'd been thrown into than him. He still felt like he was living in a terrible nightmare - longing to wake up, longing for it not to be real, for Travis to not be a Vampire, for him not to be an... Abomination, for Magnus and Lillith to not exist, for the Golden Tower to be a figment of his imagination....
Lillith... That witch had played him for a fool, every step he'd taken, the cannibals in the hills, the chevelier - Kirsten's betrayal, Travis... Even father wolf - had not been real, but had been her majiks at work...
He shuddered and shook his head, one thing was for sure, if he ever saw a Vampire again - it would too soon...
The raspy grumbling noise of his clattery old bike echoed around the empty streets. Lost in his thoughts he'd stopped paying attention to his surroundings. He slowed down and surveyed the tumbledown street. New Orleans had be largely re-built, there were entire streets and neighborhoods where Hurricane Katrina's foot prints had been dusted away completely... This however wasn't such an area, the street-lamps were now unlit, abandoned flooded out cars and houses lined the sides of the roads, some of the houses collapsing, there was no electricity here, and nobody living here. He turned his bike onto the sidewalk and planted his feet on the pavement, standing upright he pulled a cigarette from his jacket and lit it up. There was a temptation, to just keep riding, get as far away from the populated areas as possible, then sabotage his bike and wait to die from not feeding... He was assuming he would die from not feeding, he had no concept of how long this would take or how painful it would be...
Marco trundled his bike into the bushes at the side of one of the less collapsed houses, puffing on his cigarette as he went. He'd always hated smokers, but after Sommerville... Well lung cancer was the least of his problems, and it somehow felt like he was making a bold statement as to how badly life had treated him, by starting smoking.
The house was silent, it's occupants evacuated at the time of the storm. There was barely a thing in the house that hadn't been flood damaged to oblivion or looted. He scoured the cupboards, the kitchen, the living room... Eventually he crept upstairs, one of the upstairs rooms looked like it had been a teenagers bedroom, they had been into Metal music - according to the posters adorning the walls. Thinking he'd probably hit the jackpot he ransacked the room, eventually finding a cleverly stashed bag of cannabis resin and a two thirds full bottle of whisky...
The pot went in his jacket pocket, he hated the stuff really, he'd rather trade it for some good booze or save it for when he really felt like crap. With a shrug of the shoulders he sauntered outside, onto the veranda and sat back in a wicker chair. Slowly he uncorked the whisky, then took a deep drink, chugging at least a triple back. The effects of alcohol were different now - he thought they were different anyway, he'd never tried more than a drop as a mortal - now he seemed to have to guzzle it to even feel an effect.
He lit another cigarette, and sat drinking, smoking, gazing into the night. In the distance he could hear traffic, see the glow of urban life and streets lit up. Marco didn't feel like the bustle, he simply sat, and concentrated on his drink, his smoke, and trying to forget.

She felt her life slip away, as he drank. The world went black, and far away, a bright light seemed to approach. She felt a sense of peace coming on. Then a dark shadow covered the light, and she felt pain beyond her wildest imaginations.

"What did you do to me?!" Alexandrine was screaming at Marcel, who was sitting casually in a chair. She was herself half-lying, half-sitting on the bed. Marcel shrugged.
"I've given you a great gift, Alexa." He used her pet name. "The gift of immortality. You should be thanking me."
A gift. Alexis silently cursed Marcel as she had countless times before, as she looked down from the balcony. Immortality had proven itself to be a curse, not a gift. Yes, she was immortal, yes, she was powerful, but that night in 1244, Marcel had ripped all of her dreams from her. She would never have children or a real family, and the only man she had ever loved had died from old age in her arms.
She was torn from her thoughts by a hand being placed upon her shoulder. She turned her head and smiled to the dark-skinned woman beside her.
"Mistress, are you alright?" Nia, despite having been with Alexis for over 3 centuries, still insisted on calling her 'mistress'. Alexis nodded.
"I'm fine, Nia. I'm just remembering." Nia smiled.
"You think too much, mistress."
Alexis didn't reply, instead caressing Nia's arm, a little happier. She may never have a real family, but she had the next best thing in Nia, Meredith, Sandy and Marcus; and Jonathan, even if he was 'adopted'.
Nia looked down.
"Does the girl interest you?"
"She does."
"So what's stopping you? You've never been shy, Mistress."
Alexis smiled. Nia was right. She lovingly squeezed Nia's arm, then headed towards the stairs.

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
A couple was dancing not far from where Rebecca was sitting. The girl, no older than Rebecca, wore a very short skirt, a tight black t-shirt, and several metal-studded accessories, including a leather collar. She had day-old, smeared black eyeliner and beautiful brown eyes.
The guy, a little older, wore black leather pants and a white t-shirt. He too wore black eyeliner.
Rebecca watched them for a while. Then her gaze was drawn to a beautiful dark-haired woman, seemingly a few years older than her, who had appeared out of a half-hidden doorway. She wore a low-cut dark blue dress. Her eyes, an emerald green, seemed to shine in the darkness.
The woman came over and sat down.
"Hello. I'm Alexis, the owner of Le Trou. I don't remember seeing you here before." Her voice was silky and seductive. Rebecca didn't immediately answer, swayed by the woman's presence. She finally got a grip and smiled.
"I'm Rebecca."
"Hello, Rebecca. What brings you to my club?"
"I heard it was a cool place."
"And what do you think?"
"Seems cool enough. Not as many sleazy guys as usual." Alexis laughed, a pearly laughter that seemed to heat up Rebecca somehow.
"No, we try to avoid those." She leaned closer. "I don't like sleazy guys either. They can be fun sometimes, though."
Rebecca could feel a few pearls of sweat appearing on her forehead. Alexis smelled sweet. Rebecca caught herself thinking bad thoughts, but quickly dismissed them. She had never been attracted to women before.
"I guess. Not much fun the day after, though." Alexis laughed again, returning the bad thoughts to Rebecca's mind.
"I usually don't keep them around that long."
"Eh, do you have somewhere I can have a cigarette?" Alexis smiled.
"Certainly. Come."
Against her better judgement, Rebecca rose and followed Alexis. She led her into a dark room with red leather couches and small tables. A few people were sitting there. Rebecca noticed a dark-haired, fair-skinned woman seemingly kissing some guy on the neck. The guy seemed to be in ecstasy.
Alexis sat down opposite the pair, and pulled closer an ashtray. She then produced a pack of Gauloise cigarettes and offered Rebecca one. She then produced a gold lighter and lit their cigarettes.
Rebecca was still looking at the couple opposite them, doing her best to quell the feelings that the closeness of Alexis created. Alexis nodded at the couple.
"That's my partner, Meredith, by the way. She seems to enjoy the sleazy guys."
Meredith moved her head, then raised it. The guy slumped against the couch, looking at her with dreamy eyes. Meredith smiled to Alexis and Rebecca, before lighting a cigarette herself.
Rebecca spent about an hour with Alexis, smoking and drinking, then excused herself and went home. As she left, Meredith came up to Alexis.
"You let her go?" Alexis smiled.
"She'll be back."

The bottle of whisky hadn't lasted long, he'd sat, drank, smoked... Soon his bottle was drained, his cigarette packet was wanting and he didn't feel any better for it. He felt unusual now when he drank, he didn't lose control, he felt like he gained control - but at the same time he felt more cold, and predatory...
Was it the beast inside gaining a footing, while his conscious mind dozed? He wasn't entirely sure, he didn't feel like sitting around with no drink and no smokes. The stereotypical thing to do would have been to throw the empty bottle to smash on the road, but he placed it carefully down so it clicked onto the veranda.
As he walked to the bushes where he'd stashed his bike, he sported a menacing look of controlled agression. He was fighting back the darkness at this point, he'd not fed for a long time, he didn't want to feed at all - but the thirst would always win, that insatiable craving - was impossible to deny.
The quiet was broken with a few failed attempts to kick his bike into life, then a harsh spluttering as it turned over. He twisted the throttle hard a few times, letting out a rasping scream of a dying engine with each twist - then he jumped on. Like a moth, he was drawn to the light, the sound of traffic and the hum, created by the bustle of people... People... He thought of them as people still - yet now he should be referring to them as humans...
It took a good fifteen minutes of weaving through abandonned streets before he was anything like in a populated area. Even then, it started out with the odd populated house amongst a street of debris and carnage. The whole city felt somewhat, 'post apocalypse' even though many of the people had moved on, the flood defences had been improved and people were trying to rebuild their lives here... The streets got busier, the populated houses got more frequent, eventually shops, bars restraunts came into view and he began having to avoid cars.
After a while he was cruising down what appeared to be the main drag... It was late, but revellers were still sauntering up and down the sidewalks. Taxi's were still vying for fares and he guessed most of the bars and nightclubs were still open... Then it hit him...
It was a cold sense of dread, causing the hairs on the back of his head to stand up on end. A chill ran up his spine... They were near, Lillith had found him.
He pulled into the curb and glanced around in a panic, looking at bemused citizens who were thinking he was some crazy... Eventually his eyes rested on a quiet alley, a few hundred metres up. He twisted the throttle, pulled out and headed towards it. There was nothing assuming about it, he pulled in anyway - more out of morbid curiosity than desire. He could sense it stronger, a sense of... Something... As he got closer, it seemed less likely to be Lillith - she seemed to have had her plans, and had been happy to allow him to leave, as a sort of bizarre thank you for helping her plans come to fruition...
After a few turns he spotted a dimly lit sign, 'Le Trou' it was a night club, nothing looked special about it... Even the feeling of dread had passed somewhat - had it been his imagination? It could have been... He'd experienced it before on his long journey from Sommerville...
It could be nothing, but still... The effects of the alcohol and tiredness were changing now. He rummaged in his coat for a few dollars, then span his bike around and tore off back to the main drag. He stopped at a kiosk and bought some cigarettes, some rolling tobacco and some papers, then headed back to the abandonned house where he'd stolen the whisky and cannabis. It was nothing, but it sort of felt like, the closest he had to a home in this strange town. His plan, smoke some pot - then go to sleep in a stoned stupor, in some strangers forgotten bed... And see what tomorrow brings tomorrow.

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
Montségur, March 1244
The siege was all but over. Alexandrine had been in the company of Marcel for the last two months, not because she wanted to but because she needed to learn the powers and limitations that came with her new state. Tonight, she felt that she knew enough. She clutched the stake in her hand as she waited for Marcel to return.
He returned as promised, his skin slightly ruddy. He had fed well tonight. He entered the room, and turned to close the door. At that moment, Alexandrine struck, ramming the stake into his back and into his heart. Marcel stopped dead for a moment, then exploded into millions of particles.
Certain of his demise, Alexandrine gathered what few belongings she had, and left the house. All she had to do now was find somewhere to await the fall of the city...
Rebecca was stumped. Alexis had awoken something in her that she had never known was there. Her voice, her eyes, her very présence; they had been otherworldly. Part of her refused to ever go back to that place, to see Alexis again; but another part yearned to see her again, to hear her voice, even to - and this seemed unnatural and natural at the same time to Rebecca - touch her.
After coming home and getting into bed, she lay awake thinking of the events, trying to grasp her emotions. She fell asleep, dreaming of a pair of gleaming, green eyes.

"Where's Jonathan?"
Meredith had been looking around the club, and was now asking Nia. Nia shrugged.
"I think he went out."
The club was closed now. Only Alexis and her children and few select guests were there now. Marcus and Sandy had both withdrawn to private rooms to indulge themselves with the catches of the night, but Meredith and Nia had already fed and were now cleaning the club.
Alexis was returning bottles to shelves in the basement. She had fed three nights earlier and was not hungry yet. She pondered her existence as she worked. She had never expected to work in a night-club, but there was something decidedly human about it. She knew that the work helped her keep her humanity, unlike so many other vampires.
She had always done menial tasks, partly to keep herself busy and partly as a way to hold onto her humanity. It had worked, and she still felt like a human, even though she knew that she was not, and hadn't been for over seven centuries. She knew that her children disliked the chores, but they too understood the importance of them, and they rarely complained.
Alexis found herself thinking of Rebecca. She had started out as little more than a future meal, but over the evening something had changed. She felt something stir within her, something she hadn't felt for a long time. A crimson tear slowly slipped down her cheek, as she whispered:
"Oh Robert. I wish you were here."
Alexis stood there, reminiscing for a few seconds. Then she wiped away the tear and returned to work.

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
Marco was having a dreamy slumber, he always did since the changes that had taken him occurred. He wondered whether his life would have been much different, if Kirsten hadn't embraced him? The fact was, his growth into a mature werewolf had been interrupted and cut short, fortunately not in the usual way an embrace would cut that short... But still - it was a part of him he'd barely begun to come to terms with, and now it was gone.
He awoke sweating, it was still dark, he climbed out of the teenagers bed he taken and wandered to the broken window, gazing out over the city, most of it still in darkness. There were some perks he considered - he could stand in the light of a full moon, and not change. He felt different, the urge to allow the beast out was greater, almost maddening - but not impossible to defeat.
Pulling out a cigarette he thought of Miri again, they'd stayed together for a while after Sommerville, traveling together... The fact was Kirsten had only ever used him, and he'd only ever lusted after her. She had real issues to deal with, as would anyone who had survived being sentenced to be 'nailed to the door of the golden tower, and have her throat slit every day at noon for the Vampires to feed from a strategically placed bowl beneath her' Of course she'd been force-fed blood to sustain her, and had her soul returned to enhance the punishment.
The effects on a persons psyche of undergoing this - he couldn't fathom. In truth, she'd probably only endured the punishment for two or three weeks - a vast reduction on the eternity she had been sentenced to...
Miri... The fact was, he'd fallen in love with Miri. He never noticed her at school before all hell broke loose, but they'd grown close, very close.... Ultimately though leaving her was only option. At times the craving had struck him unexpectedly, and he'd turned or half turned - lost control and she had been forced to flee for her life... At the same time, ultimately they would be parted, he had clearly stopped aging, and she had not. He considered whether he could turn her with an embrace as Kirsten had tried to do to him... The trouble was, as a supposedly incredibly rare abomination, there was not much in the way of information available and he didn't know whether he could turn people. Besides - what would she become? An abomination like him? A werewolf? A Vampire? Would her soul be stripped from her and he be left the demonic part of the Vampire - his love gone forever? He thought about asking Kirsten to turn her - they could have found her if they tried, but again he didn't want Miri left soul-less...
Lillith had hinted that there were many bloodlines of Vampires, all over the world - some so different they could hardly be believed to be the same species, that for some, the soul always remained. He wondered whether this breed considered their fate a curse or a gift?
Sighing deeply, he flicked his cigarette out of the broken window and returned to bed, for a troubled sleep.

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
Johnathan Winters crouched down on the edge of a building, looking down on an alley, where two men were trading senseless blows. His pale skin glowed even paler in the moonlight, although the pollution of the city dampened the effect. The one man tossed the other into the wall, grabbed him again, and knocked him down into a discarded glass bottle. He was mildly amused by the display, and wondered if the man would notice him. Humans, they never look up, do they?
The vampire jumped from the roof, landing behind the man, cracking the littered pavement a little. The man turned around, with the reflexes of a fighter, only to have his neck grabbed in mid spin. There was an audible pop, as the mans own momentum snapped his neck out.
Johnathan, feeling good after his meal of two, walked toward the shattered window of the warehouse he had been waiting on, and started to work his way through. That was when the sirens blared down the street, and a few police stormed into the alley. He had set it up to look like the men had slit their own throats, covering the bite marks. Pools of blood told a fabricated tale of a joint suicide. But it wouldn't do to be seen as he was, coated in blood. He faded away into an icy cold mist, and blew off into the wind.

The day passed quickly and the moon rose over the city once again, enveloping the night in a soft white light.
Alexis stood on the roof of the building, taking in the rays of light. Even though she could venture out into the sun, she rarely did. It did not provide the warmth it once had, and now only reminded her of her lost mortality. The moon, though its light was cold, still brought with it a shred of her lost mortality, unlike the sun.
It was strange how the same moon that granted her those emotions also fuelled the powers of the mortal enemies of her kind, the werecreatures. Werewolves were the most famous, but other werecreatures did exist.
On a spur of the moment, she decided to visit the only werecreature she knew of that did not hate vampires; John. She walked to the edge of the roof, and walked off. Moments later, a bat flew off through the city.
* * * * *
Morgan looked at the men and women gathered around the table. He cleared his throat, causing the hummed talking to stop.
"You all know why we are here. If we truly want to control this city, we need to get rid of the competition. We have already taken out Malinus, but Christián, Malfleur and Alexis still stand in our way." One of his cronies raised a hand. "Yes, Frank?" Frank, or Francois as was his real name, cleared his throat.
"Alexis is no threat to us. She is rarely if ever involved in what goes on behind the scenes." Morgan sent Frank a harsh glance.
"That may be, but she is nevertheless powerful enough for the Triumvirate to worry about. That means we should worry too. Better to take her out before she becomes a threat." Another, a woman named Arabelle, chimed in:
"She is surrounded by her brood at all times, and even if we catch her alone, we will not only lose several of our numbers, but her brood will also seek revenge."
"And they say that she has allies among the shapeshifters" another said. Morgan rose a hand to stop the growing whispering.
"We can handle her brood and any shapeshifters she might have befriended - something I doubt very much. I know I ask much of you, but if we leave her be and destroy Christián and Malfleur, we also leave the door open for Alexis to take power." When none of his cronies objected, he smiled, satisfied. "Good. We destroy Christián and Malfleur first, and then we go after Alexis." His eyes narrowed. "And then, we destroy every shapeshifter in and around New Orleans."

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
Marco was now walking through the brightly lit streets of the populated area's commercial zone. He had new clothes, and a pocket full of dollars... It had been an eventful day.
He thought back to how it had started...
He'd been woken by voices downstairs, as he regained consciousness, he could hear the rumble of a engine ticking over too. He didn't feel well, it had been too long since he'd fed... His skin was pale, he was shaking slightly - and the blackness was trying to invade his eyes and start the transformation...
A tingling in his teeth, barely suppressable could be felt... He listened to the voices, almost in a fevered daze, "Nah, looks like this one's been done already - nothin' of value here Franz..." there was a pause, "Check upstairs, this is the best looking house on this street - the bedrooms might not have been done..."
The thump, thump, thump of feet on the stairs tensed Marco up... The craving was growing the thirst urging him to unleash the beast - but he held it back. He could hear them thumping around in the other rooms, probably turning out drawers onto the floor and tearing open wardrobes..
Then they entered, he was covered in sweat, quivering softly... His eyes had swirls of cloudy black around the edges. "Hey Franz! We got a live one! Huh, well jus' about - he don't look well." The taller man, an african american with a scar under his left eye approached, "Hmmmph, he looks like he's dying, I'll bet he's the one, done over the house - we should check his pockets, take his money, and valuables - then leave him and go find somewhere else."
The short stubby caucasian nodded, and began rifling through Marco's pockets, cursing, as he did so. Marco was cursing in his head too, here was - they thought he was in trouble, what do they do? They start rifling his pockets! The beast was pleading with him now, begging, and he no longer felt the need to protect these people, he allowed the blackness to fill his eyes, and his teeth to elongate in a surge of pain.
As Carson was frisking him, Marco's hand shot up and grabbed him in an iron grip. Carson yelped in surprise and looked at his now fanged, jet black eye'd face, "Jesus! Franz! Get it off me!" the black man pulled out a pistol and pointed it at Marco's forehead, "Let go son, or I'll blow your brains out - you got two seconds!" Marco needed less than one...
The gun was smashed fron Franz hand and his wrist was grabbed, in a grip so tight it crushed bone. Marco growled and leapt to his feet, swinging the two men around like rag-dolls, smashing them into the walls, cieling and floor - wrecking the house.
After a few seconds, Marco was still fighting for control and the men's bones were shattered, their backs broken and thier living corpses almost jellified by the onslaught. Almost like a back seat passenger, Marco experienced the bite on the black mans neck, in truth the multiple fangs of the abomination were more suited to biting heads off, than carefully draining blood. Half the neck was ripped out and he buried his mouth into the mass, devouring the blood as fast as it could flow, then throwing the lifeless husk onto the floor and repeating it with Carson, who was desperately trying to drag himself towards the stairs with his hands, his spine clearly snapped and blood trickling from his mouth due to internal injuries...
Soon he was drained too, his corpse thrown to the ground.
Marco, satisfied, managed to fight his way back into control... The feeding was over, but he was full of remorse. These were probably bad men, they carried a gun, looted peoples houses and chose to rob him rather than call for an ambulance... But they didn't deserve this...
He gazed down at thier twisted features, their faces locked in a grimace of surprise and agony... He felt sick, sick to the very core... He wanted to throw up and kill himself... Although it did present the interesting question of how could actually achieve that. When he thought of the list of people who had tried to kill him and the extreme damaged he'd recieved and survived - he held out little hope of being able to complete the task himself. He'd been drained of blood, cooked, partially eaten, sawn virtually in half with a chainsaw, stabbed, slashed, shot, burned....
He shook his head... Feeling like a cur he searched the mens jackets, taking two wallets full of cash - it looked like they'd had a succesful morning... It made him sick... But he needed the money. He was also now covered in blood. The water in the house was still connected, so he had a cold shower trying to scrub away his guilt as well as the blood. He managed to find some jeans and a faded 'Ozzy Osbourne' T-shirt that were both ill-fitting. He smirked at the image of a wolf and the song title underneath... 'Bark at the Moon'... You couldn't get more ironic...*[Ref:Bark at the Moon]
The truck had been laden with scrap, and other items of value. He'd taken what he could carry, and left for town on his bike. The rest of the day he felt physically invigorated, like he was on a natural high. It almost outweighed the guilt, the feeling of life and pleasure that he enjoyed post feeding... It would fade of course, and the guilt would return...
He spent the day eating out, buying himself some new clothes and looking for work. Nothing available, but he didn't mind, tonight he was returning to 'Le Trou' to see if his mind was playing tricks on him, or if there WERE Vampires in New Orleans...
- Now it was night, he was wearing a smart pair of trousers and a casual white shirt, and some nice shoes... Not his usual choice - but he was on his way to 'Le Trou' tonight and didn't want to get turned away...

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
Rebecca had argued whether to return since she'd woken up. She'd gone through the day in a daze, her thoughts constantly returning to 'Le Trou' and Alexis.
As the moon rose across the city, Rebecca found herself a block from the alley leading to the club. After a short mental argument with herself, she continued, eventually turning into the alley.
A man, dressed in casual clothes and with a slightly haunted look in his eyes, turned into the alley almost at the same time.
"Hey, you." Rebecca turned her head. "Don't tell me you're going to 'Le Trou' ?" She nodded. The man continued: "I'd steer well clear... Go somewhere else." Rebecca shook her head.
"I have to go. I have to meet someone." She looked at him, noticing again the haunted look in his eyes. "Why don't you want me to go there?" It felt weird to talk to a complete stranger, but she wasn't uneasy. She somehow knew that he wouldn't hurt her.
The man laughed: "Hah! If only you knew ... You'd think I was crazy if I told you ... The fact is, I'm not certain, but I ... Oh what the hell - you probably think I'm nuts by now anyway ... I think the place is crawling with Vampires."
Rebecca looked at him with disbelief.
"There is no such thing as vampires." He didn't answer. She nodded. "All right, let's say you might be right. Why go there yourself?" The man shrugged.
"I need to be sure ... Look, go if you must, but be wary - don't trust anyone in there."
Rebecca nodded, and began walking again. The man caught up.
"I'm Marco, by the way." Rebecca smiled to him.
"Rebecca."
They soon reached the club. The doorman let them enter after Rebecca vouched for Marco. They were met by Meredith.
"Hello, Rebecca. Alexis isn't here right now, but you can wait in the Red Room. She'll be back soon." She looked at Marco with interest. "Who's your friend?" Rebecca introduced her to Marco, then left for the Red Room.
"Hello, Marco." Her green eyes seemed to light up the room.

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
The minute Marco walked through the doors of the club something felt wrong, no everything felt wrong. It reminded him of the first time he'd entered the pocket reality created by Lillith's high majik, that the Vampires of Sommerville inhabited. A watered down feeling of surrealness and dread that only became more intense, firstly when he'd torn the doors off the Golden Tower, and then entered the presence of Lord Magnus and Lillith...
He could feel the beast caged inside him, rising up - raging against it's constraints... Yet he as he looked around, he could not see any sign of anything but a normal night-club. Classier than usual - quite upmarket looking, and not the usual crammed in like sardines place that seemed to be the norm... The Dj even smiled at him from his booth as he looked up... The latest hits were playing, people were having a good time.
Marco was in his own little world as they entered the club - barely aware of Meredith and Rebecca as they traversed the main area... When they entered the Red Room, the feelings of discomfort amplified... Everything felt wrong, he felt like he was in the presence of Vampires. He wondered about Rebecca for a moment, but she seemed innocent and... Meredith... Was she a Vampire? It would have been impolite to ask, and his senses were nothing like attuned enough to be able to tell... "Hello Marco."
He snapped out of his trance, there was something in her voice, something comforting, alluring, controlling? There were two possibilities - he was either being paranoid or she was a Vampire and she was subtly trying to glamour him...
Other Vampires had tried that before - he recalled Travis's bafflement when he'd resisited before the embrace... Afterwards his resistance had grown and he'd become sensitive to when Vampires were trying it on him... He smiled at her, she beautiful and extremely friendly, he smiled at her, "Hi, nice place you've got here, can I smoke?"
She chuckled softly, "Yes, you can smoke in here - but this isn't my place, m name is Meredith - won't you have a seat?"
He took a place on the red couch at one of the little tables, he was getting wierd feelings warping his mind - from the place? From Meredith? He couldn't be sure... He was finding it difficult to think straight, so he took a cigarette out and began fumbling for his lighter. Meredith held one out, so he abandoned his search and popped the slim cylinder between his lips. The tobacco glowed, smouldered then lit as he took a deep puff on the cigarette.
Meredith leaned back in her chair with a smile of satisfaction, "You're first time in 'Le Trou' isn't it?" He took a short sharp drag - the smoke whisping out as he spoke, "Yes... I just got down from the North the day before yesterday. It's an interesting place New Orleans, post Katrina... Fascinating but tragic... I've had no problem finding accomodation - so many abandonned houses... A lot of them seem fine - apart from having being looted. It's a roof over my head and it's free. I really need to find some work now."
Rebecca sat listening to the conversation, lighting a cigarette of her own...

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
John was quietly sitting, watching the moon. It was not yet full; not that it mattered - he had long ago mastered his change, and even the full moon no longer forced it upon him.
He felt rather than heard her coming. Without turning his head, he greeted her:
"Hello Alexis. What do I owe the pleasure?"
Alexis smiled as she seated himself next to her.
"I missed your company, old friend."
"Old? Next to you, my sixty years mean little." She laughed.
"Don't you know never to remind a woman of her age?" John smiled.
"Your friendship baffles me to this day, Alexis. What could someone of your wisdom and power want with a shapeshifter?"
"I could ask you the same."
"You saved me once, remember? I don't forget that."
"I may soon need you to repay me. Trouble is stirring in the city."
"Just say the word."
The pair changed the subject and talked for an hour, before Alexis had to leave again. As John watched the bat fly away, he silently confessed his love as he had countless times before.

Meredith had in fact not tried to glamour Marco. She only did that when she had to feed, and she was not yet hungry. She listened intently, keeping an eye on Rebecca who seemed to listen to their conversation.
"The north? Where exactly?"
"A place called Sommerville." Meredith nodded. She'd never heard of it.
"What kind of work can you do?"
"I were forced to leave highschool before graduating due to some unfortunate circumstances, so I don't really have an education, but I'm used to hard work and I'm stronger than I look."
"What circumstances were those?" Marco shrugged.
"Trust me, you just don't want to know." Meredith considered prodding him further, but decided against it.
"Well, we need another bouncer. Bo has asked to cut down - he's just had a baby girl. When can you start?"
Meredith couldn't quite get a feel of Marco. Her senses told her that he was somehow "unnatural", but she dismissed the notion. He was certainly not a vampire - Meredith had been one long enough to recognize others - and most shapeshifters were unkempt nature people; he didn't seem the sort. She satisfied herself with the fact that she and her "siblings" should be sufficient to handle him, should he turn violent. Not that he seemed the sort either.
Marco had just answered when Alexis entered the room. She walked over to Rebecca, greeted her with a kiss on the cheek - making Rebecca blush - and then turned to greet Rebecca. As her eyes passed over Marco, her eyes narrowed, her senses screaming foul.
"Who are you? What do you want here?"
Both Meredith and Rebecca looked surprised - and a little scared at the reaction - as Alexis waited for a reply...

Marco raised an eyebrow at the newcomer. It was a strong reaction to someone who technically, and in reality hadn't done anything to warrant it. She strode over as if she owned the place, and she placed the kiss on Rebecca as is she 'owned' her too...
His eyes darted from Meredith to the blushing Rebecca, and back to Alexis, "I'm Marco Burns, I just arrived here in New Orleans... I..." She cut him off, "That's not what I meant, and you know it!"
He glanced at Rebecca, who was following the conversation with bafflement, still blushing from Alexis's very forward greeting. He looked back at Alexis, about to speak, and she cut him off again, "Perhaps I should say, what are you? Hmmm?" He felt decidedly uncomfortable at this point. He was probably outnumbered here, one or both, or all three of them may have been Vampires...
He didn't fear death - he feared the pain, of the change, the pain of wounds knitting back together at a ridiculously accelerated rate - and the foul taste of Vampire blood and ash in his mouth... Clouds of black swirled around the outer edges of his eyes, causing Meredith and Alexis to look a little bemused - Rebecca seemed not to notice... But he fought it, he stilled the beast... Vampire or not - nobody had done him any harm here, and he still had the taste of the looters blood in his recent memory, and the horrible memory of virtually biting the heads off their jellified forms...
Alexis was in charge, that was clear, if there WAS a Vampire here - it seemed likely to be her. He nodded to Meredith, "Perhaps you and Rebecca should go and get a drink - suddenly I'm a little thirsty... I could do with a private word with the boss here too..." Rebecca was about to protest, but Meredith took her hand and led her away.
Alexis took a seat opposite Marco and leaned forward with interest. He chuckled softly, "I'm here - because I thought there might be Vampires here, I think YOU are a Vampire... You would like to know what I am? The fact is, I would like to know too... I'll be dead honest, I think you are a Vampire, and I don't trust you - my last experience with Vampires was not a good one, they went to considerable lengths to kill me and to hurt my friends."
Alexis looked defensive for a moment, pausing for thought, "At the moment, I don't mean you any harm... I still don't understand what you are though."
Marco chuckled, "Well, it all happened so fast - one minute I was just coming to terms with the fact that I seemed to be a genetic Werewolf, I'd changed a couple of times, had the nightmares, dealt with the ripped apart clothes... Hah! If you're NOT a Vampire - you're going to think I'm crazy!.... Then before I knew it - the local Vampire crew were on my case, a girl - Kirsten, who had been recently turned 'embraced' me - I don't know if you use that term, I don't know much about this stuff - I think if they do that to a human, it turns them into a Vampire. She drank my blood - drained me completely dry - then poured some of her blood down my throat... Then I changed again... I became something different, I only know one term for it - and I don't if that's a technical term because I'm led to believe usually when a Vampire embraces a Werewolf it just kills them painfully... the term is Abomination..."
Alexis seemed fascinated, she was listening intently, when he finished she sighed softly, "And so what - you've come here to try to wipe us out?" Marco chuckled again, "I don't even know if you are Vampires or who is and isn't or what... all this happened fairly recently, a few months ago - I'm getting all these senses but I don't understand them. I just sensed something wrong here - feared you might be in league with... Lillith... and felt I ought to investigate, I don't like the way your kind feed, the way you sustain yourselves... But it's the way I feed and sustain myself. I hate it... I try to put it off - but the longer I go without drinking the more violently I end up succumbing to it... You still haven't told me yet - ARE you a Vampire? Is erm, Meredith? Rebecca?"

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
Johnathan strode down the street, with a clear destination in mind for once. The humans were out less at this time. The goody goodies were all asleep, and the vermin were all staggering around, intoxicated, with one thing left on their mind. Plus, there was no sun, so he could walk the streets freely, without a large hat and full body clothing. Even then, he disliked walking about. And not just because people looked at him as if he were Jewish. He strode down a mostly empty street, ignoring the two pieces of filth drinking moonshine on the sidewalk. As he walked by them, the one shoved him, grinning. "Shoo theenk yoor beddur than ush? Shoo theeenk you cun jus wok by, all high un mitey?" He pulled out a gun, and pointed it at Johnathan's forehead. Johnathan just stood there, smiling at him, as if amused by a child playing cowboy. "Shoo theeenk dis ees funny?" By now, the mans slurred asian accent was getting on his nerves. "Why yes. I really do." The second man stood back, slightly more sober than his friend, and not liking the reddish tint of this strangers eyes. "Ohhh doo yew now? Well then, laff at dish..." He pulled the trigger, and stood there dumbfounded when Johnathan didn't fall over dead. "Wut are you?" He said, backing up slowly, a jolt of thought hitting him hard, a result of fear. He stumbled over his foot, falling on his back. His friend had already took off down the street, dashing into an alley. The man on the ground scrambled to his feet, and tore off in the same direction. Johnathan considered taking the full bottle sitting there, but decided to save his business for the club.
He strode into Le Trou, spotting Alexis talking to what was likely her next meal, and took a seat nearby, discreetly nodding at her on the way past. He waited for one of the others to come by to take his order, politely ignoring the conversation around him, more to save himself from being disgusted at the humans than anything else. He really did hate them.

As Marco waited for his answer - he sensed Alexis look up and nod subtly... He wanted to remain calm, but being outnumbered in a nightclub full of vampires... He didn't think they could kill him - but if enough tried at once, he would be in a world of pain mentally and physically. The blackness swirled around the outer edges of his eyes, and some muscles spasmed softly as if signifying a readiness to be unleashed...
He fought it back... He could still taste the looters blood in his mouth from earlier... He couldn't stand the transformation again - not now, not so soon... He fought it back, swallowed, and tried to remain calm. As the blackness dissipated he looked at Alexis for an answer.

Alexis didn't react at first, absently nodding to Johnathan as he entered. One part of her, the beast, screamed for her to destroy the miserable creature before her. Another, the human she supposed, begged to spare him, to learn more. He had obviously had enough hardship without her having to create more. She decided to be straightforward with him.
"I am, and so are Meredith. And we are not the only ones." She raised her hand, making sure to do it slowly enough for Marcus not to feel threatened. "I assure you, we mean you no harm. The questions remains, however, whether that feeling is mutual?"

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
Marco chuckled softly, "I thought as much... I wonder if being of vampire blood gives me some sort of intuition... I don't know - I'm supposed to be so rare that nobody knows anything about 'what' I am..."
He paused for a second, glancing around - the surroundings seemed benign enough. He thought about spilling his guts out and telling her about Miri, the relationship they'd built up - the problems they'd faced and the state they'd parted in... He didn't though - she was a stranger... He sighed deeply, "No, I don't mean you any harm - even if you were somehow in league with... Lillith.... I don't attack people for spite, I end up being forced to in self defence, or I am forced to because I haven't fed so long the thirst takes me... I hate what you are... I hate what I am... I hate all of - immortality sounds great in theory, but it has it's price. I'd barely learned I was a werewolf - which seemed like a different curse altogether.... When Kirsten 'embraced' me... A new nightmare started. I've... " He looked down in shame, "... Fed recently, so I can keep control - if my skin starts to turn black... Then vampire, or whatever anyone is - my advice would be to run, as far and as fast as you could... I'll be okay for now... It's when the 'thirst' is growing, the beast becomes stronger, and more infuriated - that's when I have problems...."
He stopped himself - why was he telling her all this? He'd only just met the woman, or vampiress or whatever - and here he was... He considered whether she might have glamoured him into telling her - he doubted it... He thought he'd probably just wanted to speak to someone for so long, and hadn't felt he could tell mortals for fear of being thought insane...
He looked up, trying to hide his shame at the murder of looters earlier that day, "That's all I have to tell, I probably shouldn't have told you all this - but I've wanted to tell someone, for some time... I need help... But first of all I need a job - does that job offer still stand?"

Alexis considered it for a few seconds, then slowly nodded.
"It does. As for the thirst, I have a perfect remedy for that problem." She didn't expand upon that statement. "You can start tonight. The pay is 15 dollars an hour plus whatever tips you can scrounge up. You do not drink at work, but drinks are free when you are off duty. You have a five minute break every sixty minutes. Still interested?"

Marco raised an eyebrow - she was a fast mover that was for sure. She'd met him approximately one conversation ago - albeit a somewhat unusual one, and now he was offered a job...
"I'll take it the, let's see how things work out? I'll be honest, I can't say I completely trust you - my experience of Vampires has made it hard to trust them. But I'm going to work on it. Anything else I need to know before I start? I'll be honest, I've never worked as a doorman before so any training would be much appreciated."
He smirked to himself, one minute on the run from Lillith... Then working the door at a New Orleans Club for a Vampire... Life had taken a few strange turns since his lycanthropy had begun to emmerge... It'd steam rolled off the rails completely when Kirsten embraced him....

Alexis nodded, acknowledging his distrust.
"Not really. But you can ask D'wayne for guidance if you need it. He's been our doorman for a year now."
She didn't trust him any more than he trusted her, but she believed in second chances, and Marco had never tried to hurt her or her 'children'.

Marco nodded, "D'wayne you say? I guess I'd better go and find him... " He rose, glanced around looking for Meredith and the innocent girl... A flare of guilt struck him, he pushed it to the back of his mind, and turned - starting to walk away.
Then he turned back, approached the table and leaned towards Alexis, "Alexis... Rebecca - she's mortal isn't she?"
Alexis smiled, "So far as I know, one cannot be sure of course."
Marco looked a little uncomfortable at ths, "You're not plannng on... " He screwed his face up, it seemed rude to ask, but he had to ask the question - if he was to work here with a clear conscience. He leaned closer and whispered it, almost embaressed, "You're not planning on feeding off her, or killing her or making her a Vampire or anything?! Look, I'm sorry for asking, I know it seems rude but... Well, I have to know."

Alexis smiled.
"I was, actually, planning on Embracing her. But if I do, it will be her choice, not mine. It was forced upon me, and I wouldn't want anyone else to feel the way I did. None of my children were forcibly Embraced, they all chose it."
She had said more than she cared for, but decided that it didn't matter. She, like Marco, had dark things in her past she'd rather not speak of.

He eyed her suspicously for a moment, then sighed and nodded. She had no reason to lie about it. In fact, if anythng this revelation made him feel a certain sympathy, or at least empathy for the creature. It felt almost like an unknown kin-ship beng revealed. After all he too - had been embraced forcefully, it's just the end result that had been dfferent. Apparently what should have happened to him, is he should have died in agony - writhing on the floor...
Of course if Travis had been mistaken and he HADN'T been a werewolf - then he would probably be one of Travis Cronies now - herding humans to the Golden City... for the consumption of Lord Magnus and... Lillith...
He shuddered, "Then I guess we have more in common than I thought?" He tried a small, forced smile - but it didn't feel right so he let it drop and backed away, then turned - headng off to look for this 'D'wayne' fellow.

Johnathan took the now vacant seat across from Alexis. "Lovely how humans have evolved into such pathetic creatures, isn't it?" He fingered the bullet hole in his chest. "Was a time when a shot to the heart would have killed me. Back when they used dangerous weapons." He grinned. "So who was that guy? Anybody I should know about?" He didn't like being in the dark. Especially not lately, with everything going on. In fact, there was a lot more going on than she knew. But he would get to that. Right now, he just wanted to make sure everything was as it should be here.

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
Alexis smiled, but didn't reply to the comment. She shrugged.
"A rather unfortunate werewolf named Marco. I have hired him to be a doorman. D'wayne could use the help - his wife is due in a week. Now I can give him the vacation that he asked for."
Alexis didn't mention the 'abomination' part of Marco's story. That was his to tell, if he felt like it.
Vampires and Weres of any kind were normally mortal enemies, but those around Alexis had long since come to terms with her special relationship with the shapeshifters. All kinds of weres frequented Le Trou at various times, and none had yet caused trouble. Whether it was some kind of bond between them and Alexis, or simple fear of her, no-one knew.
"That reminds me, do you have any plans for tonight? The Elder Malinus has disappeared, and the remainder of the Triumvirate have asked me to look into. I immediately thought of you."
* * * * *
D'wayne was a big man. He stood at 6'4" and weighed over 300 lbs. A white scar adorned his left cheek, the reminder of a close encounter with a thug and a butterfly knife in his youth. His gentle, brown eyes betrayed his exterior, however.
His job was a cakewalk most days. He knew the truth about Alexis and her brood as well as about most of the supernatural guests, a not insignificant portion of the monthly clientèle. It took something to surprise him these days; after all, he worked for a Vampire and was married to a shapechanger, a beautiful Weretiger named Cassandra - who happened to be 9 months pregnant with his child. There was nothing supernatural about D'wayne, though, and he knew well to stay out of the fight if push came to shove - Alexis would handle that. He only dealt with the human clientèle.
D'wayne turned his head and nodded to Marco as he stepped outside.
"You the new guy, Marco?"

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
"I've actually come to tell you what I know. It isn't much though, since I believe I have fallen under the category of suspected spy among those who would wish to have control of the city." He wasn't going to use names here, this was too confidential. Alexis had a vague idea of who he meant though, he was certain. She had other informants. "They are stirring. They sent me off on an assassination mission, to find a certain shifter in this city. It's nothing more than a tactic to get rid of me, or so I was told by one of my own informants. Of course, I won't be doing it. So I won't likely be able to help you gain any further information." He still didn't know how they had found out, but they had, nonetheless. "Well, I'm sorry I couldn't learn more. But things are gonna start happening now, I'm sure. You should be ready. And since I have nowhere else to go now, it looks like I'll be joining you." By this time, he had begun lazily looking over the room. At last, a comfortable atmosphere. A place where not everybody was liable to stab him in the back at any given moment. Or at least, not with anything dangerous.

Alexis smiled.
"You are always welcome, you know that. And your ... expertise will certainly come in handy, should the conspirators target me. Stay as long you like." She rose. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some business to attend to. If you feel bored, you are welcome to use the training room."
The training room was a large, underground room with a gym, a martial arts cage, a firing range, and a shower. It was open only to Alexis and her brood, and whatever characters they allowed access. An elevator led from the private area of Le Trou - which included the rooms of the brood as well as several guest rooms - to the training room.
Alexis hurried up the stairs and up unto the roof. A raven sat perched on a chimney, looking at her with interest. After Alexis had made sure that she was alone, she stretched her arm and beckoned the bird. It obeyed, landing on her hand. She carefully caressed its feathery head.
"What have you seen, my friend. Tell me." She looked into into its eyes:
"Is it done?" The eager voice came from a pale-looking, young man. A woman with short, spiked hair nodded. "It is done. Christián is dead, and we have four trackers tracking Malfleur. Last I heard, they were surrounding her out in the Bayou."
"Good. Are we ready for the next stage?"
"Yes. Tomorrow, Le Trou will burn."
"Good. Remember - kill them all, leave no witnesses."
The bird perched above the window spread its wings and set off.
Alexis snapped back to reality. She carefully placed a soft kiss on the forehead of the raven.
"Thank you, my friend. You have been most helpful. Tell Céleste that I need to see her, would you?" The bird seemed to nod, then took off. Alexis turned and went back downstairs. She briefly informed Nia of the coming events, and asked her to tell the others. Then she returned to the Red Room and sat down with Rebecca, acting as if nothing was amiss.
In the meantime, Nia informed the rest of the brood, as well as Jonathan and Marco. She also told D'wayne and Bo, the two doormen, to take tomorrow night off...

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
"Tomorrow night? That was faster than I think any of us could have imagined. It was just last night that I'd been assigned to hunt down this Enia or whatever. That's one day, and a highly powerful vampire dead?!" Jonathan didn't know how they'd done it. But according to Nia they'd killed off Christian, and were after Malfleur. Naturally, Alexis would be the next target, as well as anybody in association with her. He thought about it. It would be a wise time to take a leave of absence, but he knew that he was one of the more experienced people among them, when it came to this type of business. And he found himself unable to even think about leaving, however stupid it would be to stay. Alexis was almost family, as were the rest of her brood. No, he would be staying. And there would be a few vampires who would be wishing for a quick end, and then promptly getting one, even if he did as well. Sensing his emotions were getting a bit muddled, he stopped his train of thought, and went about it another way. They had a day. Within that day, either Malfleur would be dead, and they would be attacking, or Malfleur could possibly avoid her fate, and kill off a few assassins. He made a decision, then and there. If Malfleur could be warned, and fight back, it might make things easier for them, whether or not she survived. So that's what he would do.

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
Marco looked up at the man, who was physically much bigger than him, he ddn't get any sense of the supernatural from him. Of course that didn't mean much, he was all new to this world compared to his new acquaintances, and his senses for this sort of thing were not highly attuned... It struck him that it could be possible for more experienced, powerful undead to hide their status from him...
"Yeah, Marco, Marco Burns - you must be... D'Wayne?"
He held out his hand and waited for the larger man to shake it.

D'wayne took Marcus' hand and shook it.
"Yup, that's me." He looked around; the alley was empty. He looked back at Marco. "So, you a wolf, a bear, a fox...what?"

Marco raised an eyebrow, 'Wow... For a human this guy's perceptive... If he is human... Hmmm, unless Alexis has a rep for hiring the creatures of the night?'.
He shrugged, "Trust me... You don't want to know, you probably never want to know - it's not a 'good thing' lets say and leave it at that?"
The seemed a little put out by this tort response, the alley was still dead, Marco eyed around awkwardly, then decided to chance it, "Erm, how about you? Vampire, Lycanthrope or?"

D'wayne shrugged.
"None of the above. I'm just an average Joe human. Both me and Bo is. We handle the human customers, and Alexis and her posse handle the non-human ones." He smiled, revealing a missing tooth. "Alexis takes good care of us. Never bites us or nothing. Even makes us wear these," he revealed a necklace containing something rank, "to protect us against her kind. Yup, she takes good care of us."

Re: Children of the Night (v.2)
Marco eyed the necklace, and noted a sense of revulsion at it... He even wondered for a second, whether it might protect the doormen from his diabolical, fully changed form. Not a question he'd like to test, he decided it best to hope that it the necklace would protect them, but assume that it wasn't and if the thirst was growing, the rage burning - and the beast escaping, he should try to get clear of them - just in case.
He nodded, "Very considerate, sounds like a good idea... Do they get a lot of trouble with supernaturals here or something?!" before D'Wayne could answer, he shrugged, "I guess if you get any trouble with 'those types' you can leave them to me I guess... Not that I can tell who they are - I get a sense when they are about... But I can't tell who they are, between you and me, I'm a bit new to this if you catch my drift... Look, you're in charge - I'm just here to help you out... I think..."
He could tell he sounded a bit rambly, but he was nervous and awkward... He looked up the alley, it appeared some guests had rounded the corner and were heading for the club... He peered down the alley to try and get their measure...
