The Way of the Nin
The two siblings ran as fast as their feet could take them. They had to meet up with the rest of the clan no matter what else happened. Each wore the same jade mesh shirt with a black sleeveless tunic over it. Inscribed on each of their backs was a red eye, the symbol of their clan. “We need to move!” they heard some rustling in the trees above them and jumped to the side diving into a small group of bushes. The two hid in the bushes, watching and observing. A man in a strange body suit jumped down and looked around. They were being hunted; their entire Clan was being hunted and all they could do was hide.
“Little Shindo brats!” he yelled loudly, “Come out come out!” the jumpsuit wearing Nin yelled. “The Village of Green Foam is after you.” Yelling more he kept his ears open in case one of his quarry made a noise. He lifted up a black vest with a red eye, “Which relative was this?” he asked showing it off. “Your cousin, or maybe your uncle? Maybe it was your father!” he yelled laughing as he threw the blood drenched tabard. “If you come out I promise to make it quicker then with him.”
Clouds in the sky parted and the moon light shown down like a spear of blue light onto the clearing. The man’s face was covered in a sticky black ichor which the youths identified easily. In case they hadn’t the man continued his tirade, “Red by day, black by night.” The man said. “Blood and your clan have a lot in common.” He stared down at the Red Eye adorned on a black jacket. “I will find you, you know that right?”
“On a hot summer night would you offer me your throat?” a disembodied voice called.
“What?” the Foam Nin yelled loudly. “What are you saying?” he turned violently and spun as he heard the rustling of bushes.
“Hikaru, Sora, Run now!” the voice said. “Rally point Delta Under the Stars!” the two children ran from the bushes, darting with all their speed. “I’ll kill the murderer.”
“Oh you’ll kill me?” he smirked a bit and laughed. As he did so he made eye contact with the Nin in front of him. She was a young woman, maybe in her mid twenties. She had dark hair and fair skin and eyes red as with a crimson ring around the iris. He pulled a knife out from his belt and smirked. “I don’t think so.”
The two charged each other. The Foam Nin took a long arcing swing which was easily blocked by the Shindo. The Clan-Nin reached into a pouch at her side and grabbed a knife jamming it into the mans center mass. It hit and deflected off some sort of armor plate. “Too bad.” The man replied bringing a hand around to punch her in the face. Shorty got low and dodged kicking out her leg and tripping the man.
He fell to the ground landing on his back and quickly reposing bucking his hips and sending himself back up onto his feet. The man and woman stared each other down. The man darted in the direction of the kids surprising the woman who was expecting another attack. She followed him, desperately attempting to save the lives of her young wards. “No you don’t!” she said throwing a kunai in front of him forcing him to stop and face her. The two charged each other again and met fist to fist as they parried one another’s blows. Taking in a deep breath the man exhaled sending a ball of fire directly at the woman who dodged jumping to the side.
Flames erupted around the forested area. As they did the woman tried to make her escape but was quickly stopped as several kunai flew by her. She went to cross and released that a metal wire was attached to each. Grimacing the woman stared at the man as he threw several more kunai. She was being trapped in between wires, to what purpose she could not suppose. Meanwhile around her the forest fire spread encircling the two and preventing her escape.
“Fine!” she said with a twinge of regret. “If you want let me move horizontally, then I’ll have to go up!” she turned and planted her foot on a tree running up the side. As he climbed she dodged several kunai and shuriken. Several were thrown in front of her and she quickly focused her energy. One of the thrown projectiles had an explosive note attached to it, burning down to the alchemical core which caused a quick explosion. The woman was far from the tree as the large trunked behemoth came tumbling over, receiving only minor burns to her legs. She landed on her feet and smirked just before collapsing to the ground. Concentrating she quickly slapped her hands onto the ground. “Quicksand!” she yelled as the earth beneath her attacker’s feet gave way to loose sand. Particles manipulated and changed by the energy of the Nin.
A scar appeared in the earth before her where the change had started at her hands and amplified until it reached the man. He pulled off his body glove and revealed dozens of launchers on his body. Kunai, and shuriken flew in many directions each with metal wire attached. Concentrating the woman then hardened the surface around the man’s legs trapping him, oblivious to the cage of wires forming around her. “You can’t go anywhere now! The Children will be safe.”
“For the immediate future.” The man smirked. “But it’s over for you.”
The woman noticed the near invisible wire and smirked, “I’ll be able to get out of this cage easy!” she replied with a smirk.
“Fire element!” he yelled, “technique, crematorium!” With sudden ferocity all the wires ignited into flame creating a cube of fire around the woman. “IGNITE!” he yelled as the fire then blew inwards burning everything inside. The flame began to die down after reaching white hot temperatures inside the prison. The fire quickly subsided leaving nothing but scorched earth and a pillar of smoke. “Ashes to ashes.” The man said with a smirk. He pulled out a stick of wrapped herb and snapped his finger creating a flame and lighting it. Blowing a ring he suddenly began to laugh loudly echoing through the forest.
Rhane Akira and Ban Hayato sat in the office listening to their briefing. “The Shindo Clan as you know are wandering Nin. They normally stay in the County of Coasts, and are under their authority. However many of their junior members have been spotted recently without our borders. They are a friendly people.” the elder explained shifting in his seat and taking out a pipe. He lit it up. “But we cannot be sure of their intentions. The mission of Teams five and sixteen are to observe them, and make contact if you believe their intentions are not hostile.”
The elder gave each team leader a serious look, “This will not be an ideal first mission.” He said with a bit of a frown, “but we are stretched thin, and we intend for there to be no violence.”
“Understood!” Both leaders said at once.
Rhane Akira was a beautiful woman, with bright blue eyes and flowing light brown hair. She wore a tight black V-neck bodysuit with the sleeves cut off. Her opposite number was a brutish man with a beard and dark almost black eyes. Clad in a flakjacket and loose fitting fatigues he was the definition of the opposite of Akira-sensei. The two gave each other nods and set off towards the meeting place. Their teams would be assembling even now as they set off.

Re: The Way of the Nin
The lakeside park wasn't very busy today. That was unusual. Asura-Kenki didn't mind that, though. The gray haired Nin hid in the shadows underneath the tallest slide, leaning against one of the support rails. Her bangs covered her right eye, so she peaked out from behind the rail with only the right one, its orange iris concentrating on the park and the people in it. Kenki was a recent graduate of the academy. She wore a dark green tank top and black shorts. Black netted sleeves rose up both of her arms and beige puttee wraps covered her shins. She was a very shy Nin and kept mostly to herself.
But today... Today she was to join a team. Team 5. She was nervous to find out who would be on her team, and who her Team Leader would be. She was eager to continue her training and to master her skills. Kenki's slender body practically trembled as the nervous energy built up inside of her as she waited...

Alera Sat down on a Bench in the Park, her Usual Garb was in Place, with the Addtion of Several Weapons that were Connected to her body via several Strapps and Pockets.
Griff, Alera's Fenrir Partner, was sitting on Alera's head, chewing on a Treat she gave him.
Alera was chewing on a Stick of Pockey.
Alera discreetely kept an eye on the Girl hiding in the Shadow of the Slide.

Re: The Way of the Nin
Rindai Kazuma ran with all his might. He had to get away from the monstrous horde! As he turned the corner he could see them gaining on him. Taking in a deep breath he jumped over a large wooden fence and turned a corner pressing his body up against the wall of a nearby alley. A cloud of dust passed by signaling the large posse passing by. Taking in a deep breath he turned and began to walk the way. As he did so he ran into a small girl who was maybe a year younger then him. "AAAAH!" she screamed. Kazuma's face went pale. "KAZU-KUN!" she screamed.
Kazume looked behind him and saw the horde descending on him once again. The group consisted of girls of various ages. Each saying how cute and adorable the boy was. Kazu would have none of it. He turned back and leap-frogged over the girl, his hands pressing up against her head, and ran some more. The girls all screamed and chased him. The boy had fair features, and a soft apearance. Hos body was well formed and muscled but lithe. His blond hair was hidden under a tan khaki beanie, "But look at Kazu-kun's blue eyes!" the girl yelled.
"Who told them I was going to the lake?" Kazu asked himself as he jumped over a bank. They were still right behind him. he was approaching the water.
"Everyone prepare!" one of the lead girls yelled as they pulled goggles and swimming bonnets out.
"They want to swim with me!?" Kazu yelled seeing the girls begin stripping into swimming suits while on the move. "Why!?" The lake was long across, he could barely make out the figures on the far side but knew it was his meeting spot. "You can't follow this!" he said pulling off his shirt and diving towards the water. As his belly hit just after his hands the water turned into ice and soon he was flying across a slice of ice. As he neared the bank he began to twist and turn tumbling on the ice. Behind him the ice started to melt as several girls attempted to follow sending them into the water below. He fell straight into the water skipping like a stone, flipping, and landing about two meters from shore. As he sat up he flung the water from his air, the droplets collecting the light around him. On the opposite bank several girls pulled out binoculars and began to stare. "Is this where team five is meeting?" he asked searching for his beanie hat.

Re: The Way of the Nin
Kenki traced slow circles into the sand with her toes as she waited silently beneath the slide. Alera, a girl from their graduating class was sitting on a bench not too far away with her companion. She kept looking Kenki's way and it made her shy further beneath the playground. But then she heard a commotion and peaked back around the slide to see what it was.
Kazu-kun... She gasped and cowered down in the shadows as she saw the boy getting up out of the water. He was The Wild's Number One Heartbreaker... The fairest looking boy their age... Color rose to Kenki's cheeks as she blushed at the thought of him. She looked back up with nervous orange eyes and saw that he was looking for something...
The beanie flashed in the corner of her vision and she took a faltering step in its direction before she stopped and started to tremble again... Should she... retrieve it for him? But... Wouldn't that mean she'd have to... talk to him? "Kazuma..." She whispered...
The young Nin made up her mind. She needed to return his hat to him. Someone else might just try to take it for themselves... So she quickly darted out from beneath the shadows and picked up the hat where it had fallen on the shore. Holding it tightly in both hands until her knuckles turned white, Kenki walked forward on unsteady legs, closing the distance between her and Kazu-Kun.
When she was about a meter away from the boy she stopped, holding the beanie in front of her and looking down at her feat and the sand. Her teeth chattered and her throat clenched shut. All she could manage was a have whisper. "Um... Kaz... Kazu-K-Kun..."

"Kenki-cham!" He said beaming her a smile. He closed the distance between him and the girl and shook his head. His hair flew in every which direction sending droplets of water to his sides. "Thank you, Kenki-chan." the water rippled off his body as he slung his shirt over his shoulder. The light caught him. He accepted the offering of the beanie from the girl and placed it on his head. "Thank you Kenki-chan! How can I repay you?"

Kenki tucked her arms around her midsection as soon as he took the Beanie from her hands. Her breath caught in her throat the moment he'd spoken her name and it still hadn't come back. Kazu-Kun... she thought to herself... The girl shifted her weight from one foot to the other as she panicked inside. She hadn't thought this far ahead... Why couldn't he have just taken the Beanie and left...
"Welcome. I... Kazu-Kun... Are you... Meeting here too?"

Kazuma nodded at the girl. "Team Five." he said simply. "Why are you here Kenki-chan?" he beamed a perfect smile at her and blinked his ice blue eyes. "Wouldn't it be great if we were on the same team Kenki-chan?" Suddenly the boy managed a serious look planting a fist into the palm of his opposite hand. "I mean knowing someone on your team before hand must help to inspire team work and you know things like that."

Re: The Way of the Nin
Jirou's face was starting to turn purple. He had been hanging by his legs from a tree for a few minutes now. This was because he was upstream from the lake, at a supposedly secret bathing site most of the girls of the village used. Hearing a bunch of screaming and giggling coming from the lake, he remembered that his new team, 16, had a meeting there today. From the sounds of it, he was going to have two very obnoxious girls as teammates...GREAT. He dropped from the tree, landed on his hands, and flipped himself upright, making no more noise than the wind. Silently, he crept toward the lake, wanting to get a good view of his new team members before introducing himself.
When he arrived at the lake, there were in fact two girls there, but they weren't the ones causing the ruckus. His attention was drawn to a horde of girls in bikini's, chasing a boy who looked his age. The boy slid across the lake on a sheet of ice, coming to a stop nearby. He got up, and started looking around for the beanie that was sitting a few yards away. Kazuma-kun. He should have known. He made a note to try to hang around him more often, since wherever he was, apparently there were also hot girls in swimsuits.
He watched, unnoticed, as one of the girls, Kenki-san, her name was. Like all the girls nearby, he knew more about her than she would be comfortable with, and had seen more of her than probably anybody else had. He grinned a secret grin, as he popped up, virtually right beside Kazu-kun, then leaned over and whispered to him. "Du-ude...all those girls in bikini's and you run away? Mind introducing me sometime?" He wandered off a ways, sat down facing the others, and winked at Kenki.
He heard the boy mention team 5. So then, no chick magnet on his team, then...Ah well, surely his luck couldn't be so bad that the two girls were also team 5? He started to wonder if team 16 was meeting here or not. Shrugging it off, he went back to admiring the bikini clad girls across the lake.

She didn't hear much passed 'Team five.' Kenki looked up into Kazu-Kun's bright blue eyes with surprise widening her orange ones. They were to be on the same team? She... was to team up with Kazuma, the villages Number One Heartbreaker? Kenki's body stood paralyzed stiff in front of him, here eyes locked with his as she struggled to break free of the hold her anxiety had on her... But she could not. She couldn't even muster the will to reply back to the boy...
Re: The Way of the Nin
"Jirou?" Kazu asked as he saw the other boy approach. "Eh... whats with that question?" he asked uncomfortably, "All you need to do is smile at them and they just come running! I'm glad not all girls are like that, right Kenki-chan?" Kazuma wiped the smile off his face as he looked at the girls reaction. "Did I say something wrong?" Stepping in closer to the girl he moved his face closer to hers to examine it. "your face is red, if my hand wasn't wet I'd check your temperature... are you feeling alright Kenki-chan?"

Kenki's eyes grew impossibly wider as Kazuma got closer to her. He was asking her if she was feeling alright, like something was wrong with her. She forcefully shook her insides, finally breaking the hold of her nerves and immediately looked down to the ground. "Aye." She replied swiftly. "I'm fine... Team 5... That is to be my team too." She whispered, slowly taking a step back to replace some of the distance between them.

Re: The Way of the Nin
Still staring out across the lake, Jirou's eyes went a little wider as his view became suddenly 100 times more pleasant. One of the girls, deciding to try to swim across the lake, had lost her bikini top when it was snagged by a tree branch. She was jumping up and down, trying to get it back, throwing furtive glances at Kazu. Nobody ever bothered to check where he was, or where he was looking, because if he didn't want seen, he simply wasn't seen. Nudging Kazu, he pointed discreetly behind them, for he had turned around again. "Don't look now, Kazu-kun, but one of your girlfriends is flagging you down."

Alera sighed, before Throwing a Kunai at the Branch that held the Bikini, causing it to fall.
The Girl that lost the Bikini top Put it back on quickly, a heavy blush on her face.
Alera hated the Fangirls, but if she were honest with herself, she was probobly not much better...
She had a Crush on the Nin they were all Chasing, though she admitted it to noone, not even Griff.

Re: The Way of the Nin
Brilliant shafts of gold broke through the forest canopy to array the ground in sunlight. Birdsong filled the air, along with the sights and sounds of living nature herself. All was suddenly startled into silence by nearby shouts. In a tall tree, two chipmunks that were at play skittered to safety. A single leaf was jostled loose by their harrowing escape from the disembodied voice. It drifted lazily to the ground, but before it could reach its destination, it was cut cleanly in half.
By pure happenstance, Jun grazed a falling leaf with his hand. He didn't notice. Oblivious to everything but his imaginary foe, the young Nin continued with his kata. It was one of many he knew forwards and backwards. They were deeply ingrained into his muscle memory; no movement took thought, just automatic reflex. A palm strike to the enemy's nose to cause damage and block the eyesight. The second hand snakes under the first for a hard throat strike; a blow meant for incapacitation or a kill. Jun's hands were fluid blurs. He let out a strong Kiai to add emphasis to a spinning heel kick – the final maneuver for this particular kata.
Jun closed his gray, black flecked eyes, and inhaled deeply, then exhaled slowly. He had his training gear on which consisted of nothing but wrist and ankle weights and black shorts. The rest of his clothing and equipment rested on a nearby fallen tree. He was preparing for the next set of katas when he heard a noise – the rustling of a swift pace through tall grass. He turned toward the disturbance just in time to see a wooden kunai, the type used in training, soaring toward his face. He knocked it aside the way he would an annoying fly. He was more concerned about its origin. The attacker was hiding...
“Show yourself! I don't appreciate the interruption of my training,” Jun said irritatedly.
A man with flowing white clothes and a black overcoat rounded one of the trees and began walking toward Jun. He had long obsidian hair and gray eyes with black flecks. The man chuckled. “Just seeing if you were on your toes.”
The thirteen-year-old's eyes widened. “Father?! I...you... Forgive me. I didn't know it was you.” He bowed his head.
“Why so formal, my son? It's just you, me and the trees.” Sanzo put a hand on Jun's shoulder. “Though, judging from your earlier tone, I can guess you were expecting a troublesome someone?”
“Yes, sir.”
Sanzo moved to a scarred tree and ran his hands over the deep gouges on the trunk. The markings caused by the Bladed Leaf style were unmistakable. The Yakuta begin training their young in their special martial art as soon as they are able. Many within the clan think that Nin training merely “gets in the way” of true mastery of the Bladed Leaf style. This is not a line of thought Jun or his father, being a former Nin himself, follow.
“Let me guess,” Sanzo said, looking back at his son. “A horde of younger village children stumbled upon your training grounds and took it for themselves. Now you've claimed this one as your own.”
“Yes, sir. How did you know?”
“You used to do the same thing when you were younger. When not practicing, the Yakuta clan children were always playing around the outskirts of the village.”
“That wasn't all.” Jun looked at the ground thoughtfully. “The commotion by the little ones also attracted some older Nin.”
“Did they cause any trouble?” the playful look on his face had all but disappeared.
Jun would have been reluctant to tell anyone else what had transpired, feeling he had handled it well enough on his own, but he kept nothing from his father. “Just a few of them. They found out I was a Yakuta and pressed me to spar.”
“And did you?”
“No, sir.” His father smiled at that. “They called me a coward, and even called the honor of the Yakuta clan into question!” Jun's face hardened with every word. “I wanted to fight them... To show them...”
“Do not fret over what they say. You remembered the vow we made to this village, and because of that you honor me and our house. I couldn't have asked you to do better. I...” Sanzo paused and screwed his face in sudden remembrance. “Weren't you supposed to meet your team today?”
Jun's eyebrows rose in realization. He had been so engrossed in practice that it had slipped his mind! “You're right! I don't think I'm late, but I will be if I dawdle!”
He didn't waste time taking his training gear off, he just put his regular clothing over them. He stuffed his upper body into his white shirt so quickly he almost ripped it. He waved goodbye to his father after jumping into black pants and his clan jacket, and took off running to the village.
Sanzo waved back. “Make me proud,” he whispered. The wind carried it to his child.
==<>==
Jun bent over and put his hands on his knees to catch his breath. “Finally,” he muttered between huffs and puffs, “the lake.”
He composed himself and began walking toward the designated meeting area. Reaching into his right jacket pocket, he produced his fingerless gloves and donned them. Out of his left pocket came his graduation band. He caught his reflection in the forehead protector. His raven hair was in a messy, windswept spike, as always. Shaking his head, he secured the graduation band on his head. Now he felt presentable.
Ignoring the many antics going on in the lake, he sauntered toward a gathering of young Nin. Maybe some of them were his team mates. His gray orbs scanned over each of them in turn. He recognized Rindai Kazuma, Mr. Popular. Pretty much everyone knew him whether they wanted to or not. He wasn't too sure about who the girl was, but her features betrayed her as part of the Asura family. He didn't know the names of the other two either, the girl with the dog or the small, shady looking Nin. At the very least, he assumed that he'd graduated with them. Damn! If he had only paid more attention to who was in his class.
He spoke up when they noticed his approach. “I'm looking for team five.”

I'm looking for Team Five.
Kenki turned away from Kazuma's gaze to look at the newcomer. Yakuta Jun... The shy young Nin was eternally grateful for the sudden distraction and genuine reason to shift the attention away from her and onto someone else. She took a few steps towards Jun, but stopped a little over a meter short of him, that was her preferred distance.
"Jun-Kun..." She nearly whispered. "Kazu and I are Team Five..."

Hearing Jirou, Kazu heard only one word. Girlfriend. "I don't have a girlfriend!" He said almost yelling. His face turned red and he turned to look away from him. "I don't even know why they would be interested in someone like me..." Mumbling he continued. Then he shot Jirou a smile, "What do you think?"
Before the pervert could answer him a newcomer came tot he group. He asked about team five and Kenki mentioned his name. Kazuma smiled at the newcomer. "Welcome to team five Jun-kun!" As he beamed a smile at the newcomer some water drops fell from his hair catching the light creating sparkles around him. "I'm Kazuma, you can call me Kazu." he extended his hand. "We're team five!" he exclaimed,

Re: The Way of the Nin
Jirou looked at Kazu, trying to find an answer to the question. He was muscular, handsome, he had the kind of personality girls adored, and he was fairly tall. He also seemed somewhat thick, asking a question like that. There was no way he was gonna tell him any of that, and inflate his ego though. Instead, he just shrugged. "If I knew the answer to that question, would I be hanging around here?" He pointed at Kenki, saying "Why don't you ask her? She might know." He looked at Jun. "Jun-Kun...So you are the third member of team 5, huh? Well...that means..." He looked at Alera. "Oye, you must be on team 16 then, right?" He grumbled to himself, the only words that were decipherable were "Spoiling....scenic view." Inwardly, he cursed his bad luck at being stuck with the girl with some sense in her head, and a grumpy demeanor. Outwardly, he was all smiles, poking fun at Kazu and Kenki for being so naive. "Kenki-san? Have you been in the sun too long?" He grinned, mocking Kazu.
Deciding that picking on the two was getting a little old, he sat down in the grass a ways off and started practicing some of his techniques. The area surrounding him began to dim, and, as he sat there in concentration, a flickering shadow fell around him. A few moments more, and the flickering ceased, and he was sitting in his own little circle of darkness.

Re: The Way of the Nin
Now that he'd gotten a better look at her, the shy Nin's name was right on the tip of his tongue. Kenki! That's what it was. Before he could reply, Kazuma welcomed him to team five and introduced himself. He had to admit, Kazu had a contagious smile. He couldn't help but smile back as he gave a firm, but enthusiastic handshake.
"Glad to be on a team with you and Kenki-chan." He absently wondered if those sparkles would give them away to sight enhanced enemy Nin! Note to self, pack towels for missions, just in case. "I'll be honest. I was a bit worried, but seeing that you two are my team mates I can breathe easy. I think great things are in store for us."
Jun's attention was attracted by the shady Nin – Jirou? That sounded right, but he wasn't sure. He was practicing a rather interesting technique. Thinking of which, he was curious as to where the third member of team sixteen could be. Also...
Jun looked to Kenki, then to Kazu. "You wouldn't happen to know who our team leader is, would you?"

"Oh!" Kazu said with a smile. "I have heard something." he looked around making sure that no one suspicious was listening and then continued. "I was walking through the market when Naomi-chan, the woman who runs the flower shop, ran up to me and congratulated me on graduation." Pausing he looked up at the sky, "Naomi-chan always calls me Kazu-chan! Like I'm some little kid. It's really annoying!" The information had no bearing on the discussion however he felt a need to add it, "And she always takes off my hat and ruffles my hair!" The boy subconsciously brushed a strand of hair from his eye. "So She said that she had heard that I was being assigned to Akira-sensei's team. She was really happy about that because Akira-sensei comes by the shop a lot of the time and that means she would see more the team alot." Pondering for a moment he then added, "She must really like someone on the team to want to see us right?"

Alliera smiled, as much as she disliked the Perv, maybee they could get along.
She stood up and Walked over to Jirou.
"My Name is Alera." She said pleasently, Holding out her hand for a shake "I'm assuming your on team 16 too?"

Re: The Way of the Nin
Jirou's concentration broke, the shadows enfolding him blinking out, light filtering back in. He was shocked at the prospect of somebody actually wanting to talk to him. He reached out, and shook her hand. "Yeah, team 16 here. Nice ta meet ya." He grinned, thinking about all the times he had watched her bathe. He couldn't count them even on both hands. "In case you didn't know, I'm Jirou. Any idea who our other teammate will be?" He asked, looking around, wondering if they were hiding somewhere, waiting to pop out of hiding suddenly, like he had done. He looked back at Alera, cocking his head to one side. "What about the dog, then. Does it have a name also?" He asked, trying to make small talk. If somebody wanted to talk to him, he may as well talk back, especially since they would be on the same team. When his thoughts strayed back to his team, he wondered again who member number three was. He hoped it was another girl.

"His name is Griff." Alera said, Picking up griff from his perch on her head and holding him close to her "You want to pet him?"
Alera Discreetly looked around for anouther Nin, curios as to where thier Partner was.

Re: The Way of the Nin
Haruto blinked slowly, his green eyes watching as the clouds moved effortlessly through the afternoon sky. His red hair contrasting with the white sand he was currently stretched out upon. The young Nin was quite content, laying on his back with his hands propped up behind his head, soaking in the sunshine on such a great day.
Then the terror arrived. A much younger young boy came along and started making a ruckus. This boy also had red hair and green eyes, and he was Haruto's little brother. "Aren't you supposed to be at the park?" the little boy asked, bouncing around in the sand.
"I can't be bothered to show up so early to the meeting." Haruto replied slowly, trying to ignore the child. "Waiting around there all day would be so troublesome." He added.
"You're going to be late." The boy said, sticking his tongue out at Haruto.
"Whatever. Why don't you go bother someone else for awhile, it was peaceful here before you came."
The boy did run off, though it was probably just because he was bored, rather than because Haruto told him to. The young Nin went back to cloud watching, his mind pleasantly blank... Until he heard the shrill yelling coming from their families house. "Haruto what are you still doing here?! Go to the park to attend your meeting Right Now!" His mother shouted.
Haruto groaned a bit and closed his eyes. Always bossing me around, how troublesome... He waited several more seconds before grudgingly sitting up. His arms stretched high above his head as he let out a massive yawn. Slowly, Haruto stood up and walked back into the house. He needed to get dressed, he wasn't going to his meeting in a pair of swim trunks.
Several minutes later he was wearing his usual blue shirt and shorts, with blue and black camouflaged arm and leg warmers. Underneath all of that, he wore a full net bodysuit. He looked into a mirror as he tied the forehead protector loosely around his neck, the reflection looking back at him bearing his families distinctive facial feature, long narrow markings that trailed down their cheeks from under their eyes. "Such a troublesome day..." He told himself before he shuffled his way out of the house. "I'm leaving now." he told his mother before the door shut behind him.
It was a decent walk from his home to the park, and he stopped several times along the way at vendors, taking frequent breaks. Finally he was approaching the lakeside park and saw a gathering of Nin from his class. There they all are... What are their names though? Remembering everyone's names from the Academy would have been so troublesome..
Haruto had no intention of wasting his energy introducing himself or trying to get to know any of the other Nin there... Instead he found the swing set and sat on one of the swings, leaning against the chains for support as children around him swung back and forth... Haruto simply sat still. Such a troublesome thing, swinging up and down like that but going nowhere... He thought to himself. Where are the Sensei''s? I'm tired of waiting at such a place...

Re: The Way of the Nin
The two instructors approached the lake together walking lazily up the trail into the park talking in hushed voices none of the students could hear. Akira-sensei smirked as they approached the group. “I’ve got the pretty boy?” She asked.
“And the girl, who according to her file, is timid.” Hayato replied. “You’ll have to be on top of things.”
“He’s so cute!” Akira said staring at Kazu. “I mean he’s adorable.”
“Get a hold of yourself. You’re a captain now, a team leader, you can’t show favorites.” Hayato scolded her.
Sighing Akira replied, “Oh I know.” Taking several deep breaths she then added, “Alright I’m set. Let’s begin.”
The two walked into the center of the group. Akira stepped forward. She smoothed an invisible wrinkle in her tight black sleeveless V-neck jumpsuit. “I am Rhane Akira, leader of Team Five.” She said smiling at her group. The woman had flowing auburn hair complimenting her blue eyes.
“And I am Ban Hayato.” The man next to her replied. In contract to Akira he wore a flak jacket with a number of pockets over a set of loose fitting black pants and shirt. Stubble on his chin and un-kept cropped hair showed a definite lack of concern for his image. “I am the leader of Team Sixteen.”
“We will be working together for our first mission.” Akira-sensei replied, “Hayato-Sensei will explain now.”
“Our mission is simple. We will observe a Clan of Nomadic Nin that have entered our borders.” He said with an impassive expression. “We are not to engage the enemy. We are merely being ordered to observe, and attempt to read their intentions.”
“But Hayato-sensei...” Kazu spoke, “What if their intentions are well...”
“Violent?” The man finished the boy’s sentence. Kazu nodded at him. “That is why two teams are being assigned this mission. The elements that we have thus encountered have only been lower level Nin, but a lot of them. Its believed that two teams would be able to hold them off while reinforcements gather.” Kazu nodded again. “Are there any questions?”

Re: The Way of the Nin
"We aren't sure of their capabilities. The clan has always been in the more northern regions of our neighbors and we've only rarely come into contact with them." Akira said smiling at the young girl. "But given the average age of those who are intruding we've been told that chances of them learning higher techniques are low."

Re: The Way of the Nin
As the rest of the people from the two teams started to gather around them, Kenki slowly backed her way out to the fringe of the group. She started to trace a semi-circle in the ground with her left foot as she silently listened to their new Team Leader's introduce themselves and explain the first mission to them.
Haruto, on the other hand, just sighed disappointingly when the leader's showed up. He'd hoped they'd be late. Now he'd have to walk over to the group. The red haired young Nin grudgingly stood up off of the swing and shuffled his way across the park to the gathering, yawning slightly when he arrived.
So he was to have Hayato for a Team Leader. He hoped the Nin wouldn't expect much out of his charges. They explained the mission out to the two teams and Kazu-Kun asked about the possibility of violence. Haruto sighed again and raised his hand slightly until Hayato acknowledged him. "Hayato-Sensei, can we not perhaps have a somewhat less troublesome mission?" He drawled.
The team leader's forehead scrunched slightly as he looked over Haruto, then he turned to address the full gathering. "Normally a mission such as this would be assigned to one of the Elite Team's, such as Team Thirteen. Unfortunately Captain Hiroto's team and all the other Elite Team's are already on missions, which is why both Five and Sixteen have been chosen for this mission." he explained.

Re: The Way of the Nin
Jun's lips shrunk into a thin line. Hmph. Elite teams, he thought. What makes them better than us?
"A shame. I guess the village will have to make due with little old us," he said with a forced smirk.
Jun only broke his attention to the team leaders to steal a few furtive glances at the elusive third member of team sixteen. He wondered about that kid. What was up with that question? A less troublesome mission? No way! He supposed he should be lucky they weren't on the same team, because he wasn't sure they'd get along. Jun, for one, believed that hard work was needed to achieve anything worthwhile. He hated judging a book by its cover, but this red-haired Nin sounded like a bit of a slacker. Maybe he was wrong...

Re: The Way of the Nin
Jirou sat in silence, listening to the exchange, deciding that he didn't much like his third team member. He looked, sounded, and acted like a useless slob. When it came to missions, Jirou was very serious. He wasn't much good in a fight, compared to most Nin, but he did well in a group, and was a strategic thinker. At least, that's what his instructors had said. He just did whatever came to him whenever an opportunity arose, and team members often provided opportunities, that was all. He ruffled Griff's fur behind his ears, as he tried to gauge the experience of his new team leader, Hayato. He looked like he had been through a lot of stuff, so that was comforting, at any rate. From a tactical standpoint that was great, but, he still found himself wishing that the woman, Akira, had been made leader of team 16.
"I have a question." He said, breaking the silence that had fallen. "If we might have to fight this clan, shouldn't we know a thing or two about what they are capable of instead of what they aren't capable of?"

Re: The Way of the Nin
Akira and Hayato sighed. The two were silent for a moment deciding between themselves who would speak. "Weren't you paying attention?" Hayato finally asked. The boy was on his team so it only made sense to have him field the question. "We've only ever encountered them during friendly exchanges, and very sparingly. Normally they stay far away from our boarders."
"And the County of Green Foam won't share information on one of their clans." Akira added, "So there was and is no success in trying to gain information through diplomatic channels." She beamed a smile at the little pervert. "We'll get to know eachother and then break to collect traveling gear and meet at the Village Gate in two hours." Hayato gave her a nod.
Kazuma smiled and walked towards his home in order to grab the needed equipment and clothing for a long trip....

Re: The Way of the Nin
Getting to know each other, hadn't taken all that long at all. The kids, after all, had just graduated from the same class at the academy. They'd practically grown up with one another. Also, the Team Leaders were somewhat mysterious and didn't seem all that willing to divulge much of their personal lives or past with their teams.
When they were released from the park, Kenki started off towards her home, skipping along as she went down the sidewalks of the village. She was nervous. She'd really never left the main area of their village before, and had certainly never traveled as far out as the boarder regions. The young girl slowed down suddenly, however, when something Hayato-Sensei had said came back to her. Team Thirteen... had left the village already?
Jacan-Kun... She thought to herself, biting down on her lip. She wondered just what sort of mission her twin brother had been sent on that he'd already left the village... There was nothing she could do about it now, though, so there was no use worrying. She now had her own mission to be concerned with.
Kenki got to the Asura homestead and headed up the steps into the empty house. Jacan and Kenki's mother had passed away a short time after they'd been born, and their father, Asura-Lokke, had left town a few days ago on a mission of some sort. When he wasn't around, one of their aunts or uncles normally checked in on the siblings or helped them out if they needed it. Kenki sighed softly and headed to her bedroom, pausing to look at the picture on her nightstand that showed a much younger version of her father and mother. She placed a kiss on her fingertips and touched them to the picture before she got busy packing for the mission...
-------
Haruto sighed heavily after Akira finished speaking. I was just at home, if they'd only told us to pack before hand... Now I've got to walk all the way back there, how troublesome. He lazily took part in the team meeting process and then started shuffling slowly away from the park and towards home. He was to be paired with Jirou the pervert, and Alera the girl with the dog. He hoped having an animal following them around wouldn't become a hassle.
It was a long, boring walk home. Haruto grumbled to himself as he went upstairs to his bedroom to pack. His little brother came bursting into the room and dove onto his bed, shuffling his items around. "Haruto-Niichan! Where are you going?"
Haruto sighed and shut the closet door. "I have to go on a mission outside of the village. It's Nin business, and so very troublesome. Now why don't you be useful and put some of that into my bag." he told his brother.
"What are you going to do?" his brother asked, but Haruto had already slouched down into an armchair and was fast asleep...
---------
Almost Two Hours Later
---------
Kenki had found herself a nice little spot on a bench in the shadows of an awning where she could keep an eye on the gate a few meters away. The young Nin had gathered food, medicines, tools, weapons, and clothing for their trip. Now she waited, fidgeting with her fingers for the rest of the Nin to show up so that their mission could begin...

Re: The Way of the Nin
Jirou faded into view, almost wraithlike in the way he did so. It wasn't due to any special ability, it was just that he was in the shadow of a tree, he moved silently, and there was not a speck of visible skin on him. He was dressed in tight fitting, but not motion restricting garb, specialized for combat and stealth. There was a bandolier covered with kunai, and a long knife hanging at the waist. His silver-white hair was covered with a skullcap, and his upper face was covered by a thin mask that didn't restrict vision. His lower face was covered by a tightly woven net, and he wore thin gloves over his hands. Every single item was Matte Black, including the weapons. It was an outfit designed specially for him, that utilized his abilities to the fullest. Coming up beside Kenki, he whispered in her ear."You should be more aware of your surroundings, Kenki-san."

Alera showed up, wearing her Standard Outfit, and had a Black Pack slung over her back.
On Alera's belt was a Kusarigama*, a Ninjato, and a Small Bag that held some Black Eggs**.
In one of the Pockets of her Pants was an Integrated Kunai Holder, and in anouther was a Shuriken holder.
Craddled in her arms was an Asleep Griff.

"You should be more aware of your surroundings, Kenki-san."
Asura Kenki jumped at the sudden voice coming from beside her. The young Nin slid sideways away from Jirou, trying hard to stifle a gasp.
While Kenki was reacting, Kazuma stepped silently up next to Jirou and tapped on his fellow Nin's shoulder. "Say, you know, you really shouldn't sneak up on people." he spoke, then flashed both Jirou and Kenki with his typically disarming smile.
From the bench, Kenki sighed almost imperceptibly and slowly sheathed the talon-tipped kunai that she'd drawn beneath the skirt that draped down the right side of her lower body. Had Kazuma not shown up and had she not been able to recognize Jirou in time... Kenki didn't want to think about it. Color rose into her cheeks and she sat in silence, watching the two boys from the corner of her eye.

Kazuma put a finger up to his lips and smiled, "Jirou-kun is looking very attractive today isn't he Kenki-chan?" he wrapped his arms around the boy and began to focus his energy. "It's a wonder he doesn't get all the girls." Waves of cold jutted from his hands and started freezing water that had pooled near Jirou's feet. Small flakes of frost was created along his body from moisture that was on his suit. "I don't think the girls like being snuck up on though..." Pausing he looked at the sky and smirked. "I wonder what girls do like?"

Jirou laughed quietly, wondering how anybody could be so blind. These girls were falling all over him, but he was completely oblivious. He tried to pull his feet free of the ice, but failed miserably. He twisted his body around, craning his neck to look at Kazu. "Kazu-kun, it's you they like. I'm just the one who likes them back in your stead." He knelt down, trying to use his arms to push himself free. "Now, will you let me out?" He actually wished Kazu was right, and that girls would like him. But, then again, everyone knew that. He pulled one of his kunai off of his bandolier, trying to use it to slice the ice apart. That failing, he pulled out the large knife, which also had a pure black blade, and started carving through the ice, eventually emerging with ice cubes for feet. "Ugh...anyway, who agrees with Kazu? Am I looking good or what? He grinned behind his netting, holding one ice clad foot in the air. "Do you like my new shoes?"

"Do you like my new shoes?"
"Stylish, but I don't think they'll catch on," Jun said with a chuckle. He had on a well worn, dark green backpack full of provisions and equipment he thought he might need. His belt pouch contained a wide array of offensive and defensive Nin tools. His right leg holster held nothing but kunai and shuriken, while his left one held specialized versions of the aforementioned weapons. Though his jacket concealed them, his forearms now bore metal vambraces for combat.
Jun looked around at the group to see who was missing. "Hm, figures we'd have to wait for Haruto-kun."

Akira nodded at Hayato and smiled a bit. "You should get the lazy one." she said, "He's on your team after all."
Hayato nodded, "Then you will handle this?" She winked and gave him a wink before jumping down off the rooftop the two were sitting upon. She landed between Kazuma and Jirou. "You want to know what I think?" She asked wrapping her arms around the two and squeezing them together. Their heads sat just under her chin which she rested between them. Her hand drifted over each of the boys chest. Her arms pulled inward trapping both boys in a vice like bear hug, their arms limp, trapped at their sides. "I think that you shouldn't wear spandex until you can fill it out." Smiling the woman then added, "You should try acting like Kazu-kun! All the girls have a thing for Kazu don't they?"
Kazu frowned, "As a passing fancy maybe..."
"Oh don't be so modest Kazu-kun." She squeezed the two together a little more. "You two are so adorable, all you kids are at this age!" Kazu's features turned red. She released her hold and took a few steps back. With lightning speed she ripped the mask from Jirou's head. "And you won't be needing that for awhile yet. It will be a trip before we get to our destination."
