Cadence met her, but I'll wait for Mir to respond first.

Sooo, i thought about writing a response for Cadence, then Faye, then I thought... wait, Sigarr's the racer. Maybe he should respond first?
He'd know more about his daughter's racing talent than Faye and probably a little something about Toshiro's too. All Faye knows is that both of them are cheating... in a manner of speaking. >.> Sigarr didn't go racing around with any help from the Force.

Re: Unusual Business OOC
Mav rejected any form of Jedi training so she could focus on being taught by Sigarr. He taught her how to run a company like REC, how to race, and how to be handy with machines. At Faye's insistence, she learned how to defend herself with Teras Kasi, but that's it. Any help the Force gives Mav is purely instinctual.
I think Tosh received more training in the Force than that before he left to become a racer.
So, if we call the Force cheating, then Tosh is a bigger cheater than Mav.
Anyway, I suppose as head of the household, Sigarr could respond first...

Mav is aware of who Tosh is. She mentioned him during the slumber party:
Anyway, Cadence is once again being forced to interact with Cassian...“I might say the same for Tosh. I’ve seen his skills on the track. He’s not half-bad. Not half-bad to look at either. Don’t tell me you’ve never noticed, Kalja.”

Ugh, sounds like fun.
I'll see if I can get a post up later tonight. What I have in mind shouldn't affect the shenanigans happening with Cadi and Cass if Mir wants to add a little bit of sassy Sasha in the meantime.

I'm playing within the timeframe of your last post, Pryde.
For one, I wanted to make sure it didn't seem like Kalja was oblivious to the near-drowning of her Apprentice.
Also, her question to Faye is being asked before Talvier has lunch ready.

Well, i was kinda trying to being vague timewise. It probably didn't feel like a lot of time had passed cause it happened in only two paragraphs. I did think about extending it a bit. >.>

Re: Unusual Business OOC
I was working on a post tonight and my internet crapped out on me (posting this with my phone). Hopefully it's back up tomorrow.
I'd say we're pretty much done with the beach. If you want to do Kalja's reply to Faye and move us forward, feel free. That's essentially what my post was going to be - nothing you need to wait on.

Nah, I can wait till tomorrow. Been feeling dizzy all night, kinda why my post in the other thread was so short. Probably just going to sit here, listen to my audiobook and try not to look at anything that moves. ><

Re: Unusual Business OOC
Phew... that was a lot of setup...
Pryde and Mir, if you like, feel free to go back in time and throw in some cameos of any NR characters you might have. Rowen would be a pretty well-known name in the New Republic military at this point in his life. Most people would have either met him or heard of him.
Also, I wasn't sure what Sasha would be wearing to this event - if anything. I kinda want Mav to have brought her a little kitty-sized evening dress, but that's entirely up to you, Mir.

Re: Unusual Business OOC
It bears mentioning that Sivter did have a Battle Meditation user on his side during the War of Darkness: Mogon Kor.
Faye would have encountered Mogon's skill with it at the Battle of Alsakan. Maybe a few other places as well (I'd have to go back and review some of the other threads). The only battles Mogon lost in the War of Darkness were the Battle of Mon Calamari when he was going up against Kalja's Battle Meditation and the Battle of Arcanix when his ship was already heavily damaged from the Mon Cal battle and he was severely outnumbered.
Even damaged and outnumbered, Mogon was able to hold off several enemy fleets for a decent chunk of time before he was forced to use a ruse and flee to Otherspace.

Kind of my point right there. But honestly, I did forget (it's been awhile).Halomek wrote: Mon May 27, 2024 7:27 pm The only battles Mogon lost in the War of Darkness were the Battle of Mon Calamari when he was going up against Kalja's Battle Meditation[...]
The idea I had in mind is to give each of my characters some kind of specialization. Cassiel's is stealth and trickery, Cadence's is Battle Meditation, not really sure what Lyana's is yet, but I'll think of something. >.> These specializations are coming at the cost of handicapping them in other areas. Currently, none of them are great duelists, for instance (though, maybe that could be Lyana's specialty at the cost of having powerful Force techniques). They may grow to cover for weaknesses in other areas, but we'll see how that goes. ><
Plus, there may also be some residual consequences from Akain's exposure to the spear at play here too, in regards to Cadence and Toshiro. Faye pointing out how exceptionally strong her use of Battle Meditation was without training opens the door for using her as a macguffin later if we want. Someone whose eventual mastery of the technique could at the very least match if not exceed Kalja's. That would make her very valuable to anyone looking to start a war with Kalja's Jedi Order, which is why Faye is so concerned about getting her out of there.
(It also makes the threat of her turning like her ancestor did much more credible. With Battle Meditation she's waaay more likely to present a threat to the galaxy rather than directly through her own power.)
But, maybe I should go back and edit something in about Mogon. Can't do it right now, but I'll look at it when I'm at work.

Re: Unusual Business OOC
My inspiration for having her specialize in Battle Meditation actually came from you. Way back when she first sang for Kalja and you mentioned she was overwhelmed by Cadence's emotions. Her musical talent also came from you, when Clara called her Songbird. Neither of those were planned until you gave me the idea.

Re: Unusual Business OOC
I'm happy to be providing so much inspiration!
Technically Sivter had everyone outplayed at Alsakan from the start, but Mogon's skills were critical to survive against the allied fleet long enough to trap them before Sivter unleashed the Charon on everyone. Of course that's not something Faye would have known. She just would have experienced the battle going very badly for her side.
Anyway, I think the idea of having a specialty at the cost of something else is a great way to go! A lot of my characters generally have some kind of weakness that can be exploited. Even Kalja Sairu has her weaknesses. Not as many as she used to, but she still wouldn't fare very well without the Force.
Kalja Falanis is kind of interesting because she's more of a jack-of-all-trades character. She learns quickly, she's proficient with her abilities, but nothing about her powers stands out compared to any other Force-user.

Only went poking around in the thread long enough to know who the players were. Tried the wiki first, but unfortunately we don't seem to have a wiki page for the Battle of Alsakan.

Yeah, I'm working on trying to fill those in. Alsakan, Mon Calamari, and Arcanix all had a lot of moving parts to their battles. They're not simple write-ups.
It's fair to say that we both have a lot of articles that need updating or to be created.

Re: Unusual Business OOC
I thought about ending the post at "Sivter" introducing himself, but it should be clear that it's a terrible Sivter disguise (he's too tall, the voice is all wrong, and those red "eyes" are fake). The only people who would be fooled by it would be those who had never seen Sivter before.
