Aaanywho, basically, he turned the construct on her. So whatever idyllic life Kalja subconsciously yearns for that's what she'll see. Have fun! ;)

I do have a means for Kalja to break free of the trap, but I'm going to hold on to it for the moment and have a little fun with the what-if scenario.

Tulsar is also just a bit off from his usual characterization since neither Kalja or Malichor ever met the man in real life.

If you want to write a post from Arilyn or Faye's perspective at this new turn of events, go for it. It would be a little ridiculous if Faye got caught in the mental trap too by trying to save her student, but it would be amusing to see her in an idealized world where she's always a step ahead of Kalja Sairu. :oldrazz:

Well, just Kalja. Everything she sees is coming from her own mind. Malichor has no control over it, both her and Cadence created their own prisons. ;)

A nice meaty piece of writing for post #80! I had some fun with that one. :D

If Corsos ever makes his way back here and reads this, then I hope he enjoys the mini-Ardin reunion. I don't mention that side of the family much since all the characters are his, but they are part of the family tree for the twins. Of course the construct would create as much of an idealized version of them as possible.

A peek at the issues Kalja deals with internally... and her penchant for lateral thinking. Slaughtering her family might have done the trick in breaking the construct, but instead she essentially tricked herself into hearing every negative thing she thinks about herself and reliving her past trauma.

Killing her family would have been awful, but it would also have been the easy solution. Self-sacrifice is more in line with what it means to be a Jedi, IMO.

Anyhow, I don't necessarily expect Arilyn to be able to hear Kalja after Malichor kicked her out, but we'll see what happens. You're up, Pryde! ;)

Um, I'm not sure what I might add here. The answer is no, Arilyn can't hear her, and she's probably just monitoring their vitals right now. Faye may be a bit preoccupied, but I doubt she'll actually find Malichor. It's really all up to Kalja to find Cadence, but Cassiel did say she would find her at home.

It's been so long, I don't know if the setup for that is enough. The last time the Sinclair clan was together was ages ago, in another thread. ><

I'll get some responses up to my other two threads soon. Finally starting to get my groove back after hitting a huge funk. Quick question, though. For Young Jedi, what are we doing next? Cause honestly, I have no idea where we're going. Don't know if I ever gave that planet a name. :(

We're going to where the first Laeradr was last known to be - I think that and the hunt for the new tree will probably justify a new thread once you're ready to go on that.

As for the planet, I don't think you ever gave it a name. You could do that now. You're free to retcon as much as you want. ;)

Even if you find out later that you did originally give it a name, we could just say it's an alternate name for the planet. It wouldn't be the first world in Star Wars lore to have more than one name.

Read a book like that recently. Multiple alien species, each with a different name for one planet.

You don't even have to go that far. I recently read through the thread for the Battle of Mon Calamari to update Kalja's wiki entry. While doing so I looked the planet up on Wook just because I felt like seeing how much our version of it differed from canon.

It has three names in Legends: Mon Calamari, Mon Cala, and Dac. :oldrazz:

I regret putting us in this psychedelic mindscape now. Gonna have to think twice as hard to come up with something appropriately trippy. ><

You know, it's kind of funny how much of a snobbish elitist I was. Used to look down on books written in the first person, mostly because that was a particular trend in the YA novels a friend of mine liked to read. Now that I've been writing in first person, though, I actually prefer it. There's so much more you can do with first person that you can't with third. You can give your narration character and voice, pause to have a conversation with the reader, write humorous asides and wander off on a tangent. It's a lot fun. Feel kind of foolish now for being so elitist about always writing in third person.

I'm glad you're broadening your horizons. :D

I will say that I've always thought you were a good writer, regardless of style. I'd caution you to not to look down on your older stuff now, either. Was it all perfect? Certainly not. Nothing ever is. However, there's a lot of gold there too.

Giving myself due credit is something I'm still struggling with. I might've had a decent base, but I can objectively look back on my writing now and say with certainty that it's improved.

Cadence, unlike her mom, isn't a fighter, she's more of a support role. Kalja should be feeling the effects of Battle Meditation while she's battling Malichor.

Also, should probably note that while she might've been able to free herself from the illusion Malichor trapped her in, she would not have been able to expel his shade. Not on her own, anyway. For that, she needs Kalja, so it's a good thing she's here. ;)

Feel free to bring in Kalja to wherever Cadence is on your next post.

Also, the Jedi Night on the Town thread would like your attention.

Thank you for the update. I hope things get better for you soon. I've been going through a tough time myself, so I can sympathize. :(

At the very least, I know a good solution while you're waiting for your computer to get fixed. Check to see if your local library has public computers you can use. Most of them do these days.

It's worked for me when I've been without a computer.

Writing has certainly helped me keep my sanity when life gets difficult.
