Green Squadron: First Mission

Ok, felt it better to start a new OOC thread strictly for the first mission, so it doesn't get lost in the mix.

The general outline for the first mission is we will have a Mission Briefing eventually, where To'ran will outline the op and what Damus has found through his sources, and that is that there is a secret Smuggling Operation going on in a system in the Unknown Region (name of system will be forthcoming). Things like Spice, Slavery and all sorts of bad things that this group is doing.

I'm thinking there will be three planets that Green Squadron will be tasked with investigating, which will mean that Green will be split up into groups, each one tasked with investigating one of the planets.

For the groups, and these are just my suggestions:

Slaver Depot - Mae, Ty and Alek
Weapons Depot - Jax, Otsoa and Vaylen
Spice Depot - Jaclen, Kraven and Jess
Recon Group - To'ran and Valexia

Basically, each group is free to create their part of the story as you all deem fit, destroy, seriously debilitate, infiltrate and escape, etc.., but one of the end results is that your group gets a piece (however you choose) of the puzzle that the main HQ is a large station that will be towards the middle of the system in a large asteroid field. As for the recon team, we will be captured by the Smugglers and taken to the station where I will introduce the big bad guy, and a suspicious connection to NR Senator Scendi who doesn't particularly like our little band of merry pilots to much. At which point there will be a final battle (both inside and outside) at the station involving both the squadron and the fleet.

Mind if I throw in a cameo? I don't really have a thread planned for this particular character but seeing as Senator Organa's involved and this is Green Squadron's first mission now seems like a good time to get her involved. Especially since both of the rookies are on the same team.

Basically, the premise is certain parties are interested in making sure this mission goes off without a hitch. So Faye Ward and a couple of Resistance fighters make an appearance (if for no other reason than to have a couple extra people around for canon fodder... But, um not Faye of course). Anyway, they'll be around for this first part of the mission, maybe the second and then I'll put her somewhere else soon as I come up with something. This is pretty much just an introduction.

Would it be fitting if they were captured by the smugglers and are at the station when To'ran and Val arrive after their capture?

Captured 'prior' to To'ran and Val that is and then you can make their first appearance then.

I like that you've set Kraven together with the rookies. Is To´ran trying to teach the rookies some tricks, or trying to teach Kraven a lesson?

Hmm, Unknown Regions. Probably not. Anything more you could tell us about the three planets or are we free to make that up?

Val has played the roll before, so it will work with her. Oh also the reason she has the cloak one right now (in the thread) is it keeps her pheromones, contained. Not completely but it helps.

I'll have a post up today for To'ran's reaction, plus the mission briefing. Someone already brought up the fact that for the sake of realism that everyone should take their new fighters out for a spin. I'm thinking a 'practice' run with some drones as the squad heads over to the Quasar should be in order...or....perhaps some scavengers might make an appearance trying to steal some decommissioned scrap?

What do you all think?

Just for clarity sake. We are 'still' aboard the Venator The Dagger's Edge. We'll have the briefing on the Venator and then you all will be taking your fighters over to the Quasar after and 'then' I'll bring in the impromptu arrival of the Scavangers who obviously won't have expected the RDF to be there.

Both of which are about as inexperienced as Jess and Jaclen are, by the sound of it. (Also, they're Xalsin's tertiary characters so not sure how that would work.)

The groups are 'not' set in stone. You guys 'can' form them how every which way you want.

I haven't heard anything from Vaemar since I PMed him. I would think in another day or two it would probably be safe to replace him with a last minute roster change NPC and then he can just write himself back in later if he so chooses. Also, Tak is young and relatively inexperienced, but he does have some active combat experience, so he is not completely green, and can thrown in as filler if need be.

I'm going to be working on the mission briefing post prob tomorrow, as I have to pick important people who are important up from the airport tonight after work. I'm currently planning on adding one of the NPCs to Jaclen and Jess' group, to even Kraven/Vaemar not being here. I'll add the other NPC to To'ran and Valexia, to increase their overall numbers in comparison to the other groups.

Besides, at this point it doesn't make much sense to pull more resources away from the main mission. To'ran and Val are just investigating some strange readings which might not even be related to the mission.

Realistically, the current organization of people doesn't make sense anymore. Nich came up with that suggested order back before I made the flight leaders. As it stands, the unit commander (1st Flight), XO (2nd Flight), and the 3rd Flight are all on one assignment?

I'll rearrange the group details to make more sense in light of the squadron's organizational chart.
