Pain permeated his senses. He had a vague sense of the energy Cyrilla was pouring into him, but he had been tossed around the droid's heart like the beads in a child's rattle, and though nothing was broken, he was bound to ache for a while. He felt the peace she offered him, felt the comfort, but her embrace was like opening a door between them, and he spotted a black spark in her heart. It was buried, shunned, defied, but it was there. Much of her radiated the purity of the Jedi, but that spot, small as it was, sought to drain it away.

Then he was free of the prison, and in her arms, and the spot faded from his sight. He forced his eyes open and the lights and ferrocrete of Nar Shaddaa spilled in. He looked around, trying to improve his consciousness. Absentmindedly, he felt a knot on the back of his head; touching it hurt. The pain focused his mind on that point. He grimaced as Cyrilla asked him a question. Everything was moving so quickly. It made him dizzy, and he lost his footing; he stumbled back into Cyrilla's arms.

"Feldar!" she said, drawing his attention. "Can you travel?" she repeated.

If she was asking, he knew that he didn't have a choice, although he didn't know why. With some effort, he nodded. "Yeah," he said, begging the Force to clear his mind and heal his body. It helped a little. "Yeah, I think so," he reiterated, "Where to?"

"First we get out of here," Felicity answered, gently urging him forward as the three quickly made their way away from the fallen robot. The authorities were closer now and Felicity didn't want to stick around and answer questions, not when she knew both her mother and the Jedi Order were looking for her. The three of them would be much easier to kill in a holding cell without weapons and if the Jedi find them first Felicity wouldn't be able to pursue this case anymore. She would never get the chance to confront her mother again.

When they had run about as far as Cyrilla was able to go they stopped to rest. The Cathar leaned heavily against the wall of a nearby building while Felicity stared at the holocron in her hands. "Finally, we're one step ahead of them," she said, "Now we just have to figure out what they're looking for."

"We might not have time for that," Feldar said and all eyes turned to him. The little rodent shied away from their gazes. "I--promised someone I would help her," he explained, "I promised to help take down a Hutt crime boss."

"Are you insane," Cyrilla asked in shock, "There's three of us and he's bound to have an army!"

"He's killing people, Cyrilla, we have to do something."

"No, we don't," Felicity interrupted, "but I will."

The two of them stared at her in surprise. "You two almost died for me today," she explained, "and I'm not risking that again. I'll help your friend with the Hutt, but you two have to get this off Nar Shaddaa," she said, holding up the holocron.

OOC:
I think Cyrilla already knew about Feldar’s mission. Right? I don’t remember…

IC:
“Get that off Nar Shadda?” Cyrilla repeated. She cradled her side, where a cramp was competing fiercely with the torn tissues to see which would overwhelm her first. “Then what?” She shook her head. “This is your adventure, Felicity. You take the holocron and Feldar and I will handle the Hutt.”

Anger burned in her eyes. “Besides, the Hutt is the one behind all this crap we got into.” She patted her side and winced. “I bet he sent those assassins to the hospital. I’ll be glad to repay him for what he did.”

Felicity shook her head. She wasn't likely to convince Cyrilla to drop it and she knew it. Plus there was something there, something darker that worried her. This was personal for the Cathar and that was dangerous. She didn't know it yet but Cyrilla would need her help in the end. "No," she said finally, "we'll face him together."

Then she turned to Feldar. "Where is this woman who wanted your help?"

"We left her at the hospital," he answered, "But I don't think she'll still be there now." He frowned, thinking back. "She did say that she was about to do a performance at Fihu's palace. She's probably already gone there," he supposed.

"We can't just show up and demand to be let in," Cyrilla pointed out.

Feldar nodded, still frowning. He glanced at Cyrilla, then at Felicity. With a grimace, knowing how they might react, he suggested, "The two of you could probably get in if you weren't dressed like Jedi. I understand Hutts are always looking for female entertainers." He shrugged a little and said, "I could infiltrate through air ducts or intake pipes or something, carrying all of our lightsabers, and we could meet up on the inside and track down Giff."

He looked between them again. "Unless you have any other ideas?"

"That won't be necessary," a feminine voice said, around a nearby corner. Giff and nine others stepped out into the street, weapons at the ready. Besides the Theelin, there were two Twi'leks, four Gamorreans, two Nikto, and what appeared to be a Tusken Raider wielding a Wookiee bowcaster. Giff was no longer in her entertainer's outfit, but sported a very light suit of powered armor; its black sheen looked more than capable of deflecting oblique blaster fire and there seemed to be a few different gadgets hidden beneath the surface. She was wielding a heavy blaster pistol to top it off. The Gamorreans wielded vibro-axes, already charged; Feldar wondered if they knew what a lightsaber could do. He had heard of materials that could resist the blade of a lightsaber, but he doubted that a few Gamorreans on Nar Shaddaa would have access to any of it. The Twi'leks and the Nikto had high-powered blaster rifles; Feldar recalled that if those weapons were set to stun, their lightsabers would not be able to deflect the shots.

"Since you abandoned me back at the hospital," Giff continued, "I decided to take matters into my own hands. If you won't come to Fihu's palace on your own, then we're more than happy to force you to." She pointed her blaster at Feldar. "And think of it this way. You're pretty sorely injured from your last couple of fights. If you come quietly, you can heal a bit, and maybe you'll get an opportunity to escape. Try to escape now, and we'll just take the lower pay for your corpses. Shequelah?" The Theelin word was unfamiliar to Feldar, but its meaning was apparent.

They had options, but not many. Feldar glanced at Cyrilla, hoping she would come up with a solution. He dearly wished that Felicity wouldn't act without thinking again.

Cyrilla snarled at the newcomer, taking two steps forward before Felicity put an arm in front of her to stop her. As soon as she heard Giff's voice she tucked the holocron into her robe but even a casual search of her person would find it. "I don't suppose you'll just let us go," Felicity asked.

Giff stared at her directly. "I think you know the answer to that."

Felicity looked from her to the others standing behind her. The Gamorreans she could take, they weren't that intelligent and their weapons couldn't stand up to a lightsaber. The two Twi'leks and Tuskan Raider were an unknown but the Nikto... Nikto were said to be Jedi hunters and Cyrilla was injured. If she was by herself Felicity would happily try to take them all and possibly fail but in this situation she would end up getting Feldar and Cyrilla killed if she did that.

"Fine," the girl answered, tossing her lightsaber onto the ground at Giff's feet, "We wanted a way in, looks like we have one."

Feldar reluctantly followed Felicity's lead, and he tossed his lightsaber next to hers. He was angry with himself for trusting this woman; he should have trusted his instincts first. That was how the Force spoke to the Jedi, through gut reactions and first impressions. He had thought she was too good to be true when he met her; he should have stuck to that.

Giff pointed her blaster at Cyrilla. "How about you, limpy? Are you going to play ball, or do I shoot your stupid friends here while you hobble toward me with your light-stick?" she taunted.

Cyrilla looked furious. Feldar wondered if she really would throw caution to the winds and attack the bounty hunters. After what he had seen of her, he was not about to put it out of the realm of possibility. In an effort to soothe her, he reached out with the Force, with a sense of calm and peace, and he embraced her. Maybe she would feel it; maybe she wouldn't. All he could do was hope she would take the hint.

After a few long, tense seconds, she seemed to. Even more reluctantly than Feldar, she let her lightsabers go onto the growing pile. "Smart kitty," Giff sneered. She gestured at the Twi'leks, who rushed forward and collected the Jedi weapons. Stepping aside, Giff gestured back the way her party had come. "This way. We have a transport waiting to take you before Lord Fihu."

As they walked, Feldar said angrily to Giff, "It's 'Lord' Fihu, now? Those Ithorians never were at that apartment. You killed those men."

With her free hand, Giff pointed to her own nose, mimicking a child's guessing game. "Spot on, fuzzball," she confirmed, "When I heard someone coming, I figured the sexy damsel in distress would work. But you have some remarkable self-control for such a teensy critter."

Feldar stuck his tongue out, failing to suppress a gag reflex at the memory. "You're not my type," he shot back.

Giff pressed her blaster sharply into Feldar's ribs. "Still, if you had come with me before, we could have spared your friends. Now you'll all be sold to the highest bidder - and there are more than enough people who hate the Jedi these days. You know how it is."

They had reached their destination: a hovervan with enough room for all three Jedi, plus their entourage. A very strange sensation washed over Feldar as he examined the van from the outside; it felt empty, void, like a lonely black spot on the whole bright universe. He could see it, and he knew it was there, but it was as though the Force became suddenly inert, like stale air or stagnant water. The two Nikto, leading the group, opened the back doors, revealing a cage containing a meter-long yellow creature clinging fitfully to a tree limb.

"And before you get any bright ideas about escaping," Giff added sweetly, "Lord Fihu was kind enough to lend us his little pet. My understanding is that it cost him almost five million credits to acquire one, but he says it's well worth the price. No doubt you're all feeling a bit... weak at the moment?" She gestured at the van, the playful tone in her voice completely gone: "Get in."

Boulder eyed the group cautiously, no doubt the female bounty hunter felt pleased with herself nabbing three Jedi for the price of one but the Nikto wasn't feeling as confident. Something was off about the three. Two of them, the Cathar and the rat had obvious reactions when seeing the Ysalamiri, but the third, the human, did not. Boulder watched her closely but the girl seemed not to react to his scrutiny. Despite their situation there was still an air of confidence around her, as though she knew something they didn't. The Nikto decided right then and there not to let this one out of his sight.

After the three Jedi climbed into the hover van the Nikto climbed in after them and sat directly across from the human girl, still eyeing her cautiously. The van started to move and for the most part its occupants rode in silence. After a short while Boulder decided to lean in close to the young human girl and began running a knife along the inside of her thigh.

"I don't suppose you'd be willing to give us a scream," the Nikto said, eyes watching the girl intently.

Felicity said nothing but met his gaze with confidence.

Boulder was agitated and it clearly showed on his face. "You know why they call me Boulder," he asked, trying to get some kind of rise out of her.

Felicity was not intimidated by him at all. "Because you're as dumb as a rock?" She said finally.

"Because I've crushed Jedi much larger than you, girly," the alien replied, stabbing the knife into the chair next to her.

"Oooh," Felicity said, continuing to egg him on, "I guess I'm supposed to be impressed, huh?"

"Why you--," the Nikto growled, leaning in with a raised hand.

"That's enough," Giff shouted, interrupting him and causing him to freeze in mid motion.

Felicity just smiled but refrained from saying anything more. Boulder glared at the girl but sat back in his chair anyway. There was definitely something off about this child and one way or another he was determined to make her scream...

The trip to Fihu's urban palace was not long. The hovervan carried them to the private landing pad of the Hutt crime lord, where automated security systems and constant guard patrols, both on foot and in airspeeders, kept trespassers at bay. The doors opened and the entourage shuffled the Jedi onto the landing pad. More guards came from the building, with blasters trained on them. Fihu was not taking any chances with Jedi.

They were kept in place while the ysalamir's cage was extracted from the hovervan. The four Gamorreans carried the cage behind the group as the Jedi were escorted to the door. As they walked, Feldar tried to change his pace casually, to put some distance between himself and the yellow creature. He hoped to regain access to the Force, if only for a moment, and catch their enemies off-guard - but the guards either knew what he was attempting or just didn't want him getting too far from the others. Rough hands shoved him back, closer to the cage, and deeper into the tepid pool of Force insensitivity.

As they reached the door, Giff handed the four lightsabers to the Tusken Raider. "They're all yours," she said disdainfully, as if glad to be rid of the weapons - or, perhaps, glad to be rid of the other bounty hunter, who bowed and went away toward another part of the palace. Then Giff turned to the Jedi. "Lord Fihu wanted to meet you before selling you," she said, "but I convinced him it was a bad idea." She glared at each of them in turn, pausing to focus especially on Felicity, who still looked more impudent than a girl in her position should have. "Just in case you still have any tricks up your sleeves," Giff explained.

She tapped the controls on the door, which was actually a freight turbolift. "This leads down to the cells," she said, "You'll wait there until someone pays Lord Fihu's asking price." She smiled at Feldar, a sickly sweet expression that turned his stomach, and said in her "innocent" voice, "If you ever get lonely, just remember our time together."

Then she ordered the whole bunch of them into the turbolift, ysalamir and all, before stalking off to someplace else.

Giff was gone but they still had the Nikto, Twi'leks and Gamorreans to worry about. The numbers were not on their side but Felicity did have two things going for her. One was the element of surprise and the other was the fact that they were all crowded onto this freight elevator. Even without the Force Felicity was small and nimble, but the Gamorreans were quite the opposite and were probably squeezed in tighter than everyone else. If ever she was going to make a move it would have to be now before their captors had a chance to put them in their cells. Once they got that far their chances for escape would drop significantly. Not even Felicity was sure she could escape from a holding cell without the aid of the Force.

"Feldar," she whispered under her breath, "If you can hear me I need you and Cyrilla to get down on the ground on three. Ready? Three!"

She didn't bother to wait and see if the Chadra-Fan had heard her. Instead she grabbed hold of the nearest Twi'lek's blaster rifle and shoved the butt of the weapon into his face. Then she spun him around, using the shoulder strap attached to his weapon to pull him off balance before lining up a shot on one of the Nikto and opening fire. The Nikto went down with three shots to the chest just as one of the Gamorreans began to swing his big, hefty axe in her direction. Felicity ducked under the weapon, tugging on the blaster rifle and continuing to make the Twi'lek spin with her as the Gamorrean's axe sailed over her head and sunk itself deep into the chest of the next Gamorrean standing beside her.

Felicity used her momentum and the Twi'lek for support as she swung her body around and used both feet to kick the now dead Gamorrean back into the three other Gamorreans who were still alive sending all four of them sprawling into one corner of the elevator. By now the second Twi'lek had brought his weapon to bear on Felicity only to have it knocked away by the first Twi'lek's elbow as the girl swung him around. The shot went wild, ricocheting off the ceiling, the floor, the walls before finally striking the second Twi'lek in the head, killing him instantly.

Felicity finished her spin with another rifle butt to the Twi'lek's face before she spun him around and used him as a human shield to defend against the second Nikto's blasterfire. Blaster bolts struck the Twi'lek's body and he convulsed in her arms before going limp and as he fell she freed the rifle from his body and peppered the last remaining Nikto with blasterfire, sending him sprawling backwards into the wall before crashing to the floor. By now the three Gamorreans had found their footing though in this cramped space they still pushed and shoved at one another. One of them had managed to come up behind Felicity with a raised axe but before he could cut her down Feldar jumped onto his back and dragged him into the wall.

The other two were clumsily trying to advance on Felicity, one of them went down with a volley of blasterfire while the other swung its axe at her. The sharp edge of the weapon struck her rifle, wrenching it from her hands. Sensing victory was near the Gamorrean continued his assault, swinging his axe at her again and again. Felicity skillfully dodged each one then she jumped up onto the nearest wall and planting her foot against it she pushed herself off towards the Gamorrean and lashed out with a fierce kick, catching him in the side of the head. The blow struck the Gamorrean hard and sent him reeling. He crashed into the other Gamorrean upon whose back Feldar was still clutching and together they plummeted to the floor.

Somehow Feldar had found himself on top of the pile and with a scattered axe in his hand he buried the edge of it into the Gamorreans back again and again. The last remaining Gamorrean rolled to the side then spun about and threw his axe at Felicity. The girl somersaulted backwards out of the way but the massive pig was on top of her in an instant. He moved with a kind of speed she had never seen in his kind before and he quickly wrapped both hands around her neck, lifting her off her feet and choking the life out of her. Felicity thought she had had it when one final blaster bolt rang out and struck the Gamorrean from behind. As the body collapsed Felicity saw Cyrilla behind him, propped up on one knee blaster rifle in her arms.

"Thanks," Felicity said when she finally found her breath.

"Okay, now what," Feldar asked.

"We stop this thing before it reaches the bottom," Felicity told him, "We don't want those doors to open."

She picked up a scattered carbine at her feet then pointed it at the ysalamiri and opened fire. As the life drained from the creature so did its ability to suppress the Force. Once her strength had finally returned to her she looked to the others. "Help me stop the elevator..."
