New Exodus Board?

Hey everyone,

Pryde and I, along with Mir, have been posting in a new thread/timeline that we've been calling the "Legacy" timeline. It's a timeline that takes place roughly 20 years after the last threads on the original MBT. It's basically a way to explore a new generation of characters who have ties to the heroes and villains of the MBT - not to mention a way to look in on the fates of established MBT characters twenty years later.

The background setup: Basically, in this legacy-verse, Kalja Sairu's establishment of a Jedi Temple on Tython has had a ripple effect of finally creating a lasting peace between the Big Two since it was built, by permission, in Imperial territory. Thanks to Kalja's actions/connections as well as those of her husband, Delth Ardin, the Jedi are able to act as a peacekeeping force on both sides of the line. Working within Imperial territory carries a few more provisions, such as working with the Imperial Knights, but effectively the Jedi Order has never been stronger with the temple on Tython, the main Jedi Temple on Ossus, and wandering Praxeum ships such as the Skywalker.

With the Jedi acting as an independent peacekeeping force, there's been twenty years of peace in the galaxy thanks to the Jedi helping to root out corruption within both governments and settling disputes peacefully. The lack of in-fighting and constant territorial battles means that the New Republic and the Empire have also never been stronger and this has allowed them to work in joint operations to stamp out the spread of Darksider-based organizations and governments.

Which is not to say that evil still isn't present in this timeline, but after several major defeats of big bads back during the original MBT, and the successful resurgence of the Jedi, it isn't an easy time to try and take over the galaxy. Terrorist cells and upstart Darksider groups (including several claiming to be the new Cult of Shadow) are popping up on several worlds with alarming frequency. They are usually put down before they can cause too much trouble, but it seems like more continue to appear for every one that is stamped out. And, of course, there are still some truly powerful Darksiders out there in hiding, just bidding their time until they see the right moment to strike...

Right now this new timeline is being seen primarily through the eyes of Kalja Sairu's daughter, Kalja Falanis Leidias and her apprentice, Cadence Karna-Sinclair and we're nearing a point in the story where one would ordinarily make a new thread.

Since I don't want to clutter up the Story Forums with a bunch of Legacy threads, I'd like to propose the creation of a new Story board called The Exodus Galaxy (Legacy). This way we can keep the legacy stories contained in one place and anyone else who gets the itch to write in this timeline can do so as well.

I know it's a bit weird to ask for a new board when the forums are essentially in stasis, but I think this concept has some staying power. If it had its own board, it might encourage some other people to get back into the writing spirit and make some new threads of their own.

Well, to put it more accurately, the story takes place in 41 ABY.

And a new board would be neat. Halo and I both agree the story we're writing is canon for our characters, would be cool to make it official. And to have a place to write more stories set in this time period.

Hey Goober, hope all is well. While we have you here, I'm having an issue creating new topics and replying to topics in the WOH forum. I've tried on multiple machines on multiple browsers (Windows/Edge, Mac/Brave, Mac/Chrome). Do you know why I may have that issue?

Hey Goober, hope all is well. While we have you here, I'm having an issue creating new topics and replying to topics in the WOH forum. I've tried on multiple machines on multiple browsers (Windows/Edge, Mac/Brave, Mac/Chrome). Do you know why I may have that issue?

This is probably an issue with the web application firewall I have to prevent exploits against the forum, but sometimes it can pick up on words and block when it shouldn't. A previous example was posts referencing Oracle, which were interpreted as a SQL injection!

I will have to take a look at the logs. If you can provide me a date and time (in UTC) that this happens, I can check!

I think the issue was he gets a 403 error whenever he clicks on new topic. I don't know if he actually made it to the next screen to start writing.

Hrmm, never mind. I could be wrong. He never actually specified when he received the error.

Mir, when this was happening to me I had to post a small part of my post then gradually edit in the rest bit by bit until the forum wouldn't let me post it. Then I could narrow it down to whichever word the firewall has issue with.

Honestly don't remember the specific date or time, it was in the past week.

It's a situation where I can hit the new topic or hit reply but when I hit submit, it gives me a 403 forbidden problem. For some reason this is localized (thus far) in the WOH forum.

I went ahead and created the new forum: viewforum.php?f=51. I wasn't sure what to set as the description, if you have something to add just drop it here and I'll add it. I didn't set up any specific moderators either, so I think it will just inherit the defaults, but I'm not entirely sure. I've never actually set up a new forum.

Mir, regarding your issue, the logs have rolled over since you last experienced this, so I wasn't able to find the error. If you try again at some point and can note the date / time, I can check the logs and see what's going on. I didn't see any errors (or accesses) from the IP of your last post, so it's hard to debug.

Would it also be possible to move up the board position so it's above the Legends board? The two are kind of intertwined, so it would be nice to have them next to each other.

As for mods... IIRC Pryde and I were both mods at one point in the board's past. You could reinstate one or both of us. Otherwise the default mods would work fine too. Not a whole lot of people to watch over at the moment.

I just made some updates / changes, and it looks like both Pryde and Mir hit the same issue. I think it's resolved now -- give it a shot!

Goober, Cazzik is having the same issue I was having with the 403 error.

Edit: Frago issue seems to have resolved itself.

Usually the issue is due to some words that the anti-exploit software determines are "harmful". Whenever it happens, the easiest way for me to trace it down is a link to the forum where the error happened and the IP address. Otherwise it's a bit like shooting monkeys in a barrel! Sounds like everything is working now though?

Yeah, apparently putting "(Limited Series)" in the title of the thread was causing issues.
