Update on our lives 2024

Post by Jagtai »

Hey, guys.

It's been a while since I've posted here, and I'm relieved that the board's still here.

I thought it'd be fun if we all shared a bit about our life. I'll go first.

I've turned 43 (which is still really weird - I'd swear I'm still 17 in some areas). I'm still married, and we'll hit 20 years next year. I have two daughters, aged 16 and 12, both in 'raging teen mode'.

I've worked in customer service for over 12 years, and are now (finally) educating myself, aiming to become a proper office worker by taking a Business College course (just a five weeks one, to get the basics, after which I have to work as a office student for 2 years). Not a huge aspiration, but I like it. (EDIT: aced the exams  )

I still write, am still a raging Star Wars fan, and still hold all of you dear.

What about you guys?

35, still married (14 years next month), 3 kids (boy - 10, boy - 8, girl 4.5). Now working in web development for a Catholic prayer app.

I don't write nearly as much as I would like, and I don't enjoy Star Wars nearly as much as I wish I could, but you guys are still awesome.

I find I enjoy Star Wars much more when I ignore the majority of the Disney content.

Okay, I'll bite. :D

I turn 45 this year, and am starting to come to terms with the fact I'm now middle aged. In a stable relationship and we've been together 9 years, no kids but we have a Cat and a Mortgage (that's a sign of success in Britain!). I took up sword fighting about a decade ago, well medieval reenactment really, but we meet most Wednesdays to hit each other with large planks of metal. Fun fact, I was accused of making lightsaber noises when I first started, but I call bullshit on that! This july I will be sweating my ass off in the middle of a field reenacting the Battle of Tewskbury - a pivotal battle in The War of the Roses.

What else, the UK is still terrible, nothings been the same since 2016, but at least we have an election in less than a week. Job's okay, I work for a big faceless corporation but it pays the bills. And I also still love Star Wars, despite the fact most of the DIsney stuff is pretty damn terrible. Thank gods for things like The Expanse in recent times! Oh, and it's been nice returning to write stuff over the past few months. I think my creative side needed that.

Might as well? Married 5/2023. Moved to Wyoming... I'm now an aspiring part time rancher, part time horse wrangler, full time Business Analytics professional.

I'm 38 later this year, will be with my wife 20 years next year (we got together in college), and have been working as a designer and creative director at digital agencies for a while now. Before that I was a writer for a little while, but not the fun kind. No kids but trying, four cats, a mortgage. We live next door to a vineyard and have a little apple orchard, it's very pretty here.

Hope you're all doing well!

Hey everyone!

I'm turning 39 later this month. Married with 3 daughters (15 yrs, 6 yrs, and 6 months). I work for the Governor's Office and handle economic development for 3 counties and oversee state investments in the Blue Economy sector and Offshore Wind. We have a mortgage, a dog, 2 cats, 6 chickens, a goat, 2 peacocks, and it appears we have somehow adopted 3 ducks that continue to hang out on our property.

Overall, life is really good. It'd be nice not to travel as much as I do for work but it is what it is. I hope all of you are doing well!

Four cats? You must be very successful by British standards.

Hrmm, initial criteria cats and mortgages. Additional parameters, chickens, ducks, peacocks, goat and dog weren't specified, results inconclusive. :raisedbrow:

Well, chickens, ducks, peacocks, goats and dogs are animals too. Not as majestic as cats, of course, but they should count as well. ;)

With all this talk of cats and mortgages, I should probably add:

I have a fully paid apartment (so no mortgage) and two cats, as well as the aforementioned teen ragers.

For those with Cat's and Birds... how does that even work? Surely that's mutually assured destruction between them?

But I'm 'still' trying to figure out how he got such a hot wife. Just sayin'...

It requires a lot of vigilance, yeah. In over a decade we've only ever had one incident, and that cat no longer lives with us.

Cats are harder to train than dogs, but they're not impossible to train.
