Looming Shadows OOC

Post by Pryde »

Hrmm, I wonder about Caitlyn's response here. Part of me feels like if she'd gone to save Cadence, there'd be a lot more collateral damage. Her power is more of an explosion and less of a precision strike. Also, if they'd hurt her daughter, then she wouldn't care how maimed or dead they were. >.>

This is more based on Caitlyn in my head, though and maybe not what I've written before. I do remember she has a temper and there's a bit of her sister in her and Isis definitely would not care about killing someone who kidnapped her niece.

Also, I remember Akain being wary of making her angry in the past for just that reason. :P

I feel like Kalja forbidding Caitlyn from helping was more about making sure at least some of them survived rather than any concern for her getting hurt—well, more hurt.

I think the reason why she didn't go herself is because they knew the individuals had demanded Akain by himself. It's less of a what she wanted to do and more of a not knowing what they were going to do situation.

I do like this idea of Akain and Caitlyn never having to expose their kids to the fact that they, especially Akain, are death machines, and Tosh is thinking to himself, yeah they taught us stuff, but I thought they were just being weird parents. Sure, people talked about them being death machines but I'd never seen them actually death machine.

Regarding Caitlyn's Force Bomb, I think that, like Akain, she's more than likely mellowed a bit in her middle age.

Akain's stressing to Tosh that he didn't actually kill them even though they could have bled out was funny to me. Mainly cause like I view him as a cross between Yoda in AoTC where he's just old and hobbly and then randomly spins around the room outclassing Dooku and then goes right back to being old and hobbly. He's an old professor of martial arts who randomly beats the shit out of a student to remind everyone why they should be listening.

As Kalja Sairu saw things...

1) It was a Sinclair family matter, so they should be given the chance to handle it first unless they ask for help.
2) They asked for Akain and threatened to kill Cadence if they saw anyone else. Kalja knew that Akain would be strong enough to deal with them on his own.
3) Caitlyn was already injured by just a handful of them. Taking on a entire stronghold would be too much in her current state + Caitlyn isn't known for stealth. If the mercs saw her and not Akain, it might put Cadence in danger.

For the record, Kalja's plan to deal with them would have been to use Induce Sleep on all the mercs at once. Less bloody than Akain, but maybe even more intimidating to see all their bodies drop at the same time. Headmaster Kalja is someone you really don't want to antagonize. :oldrazz:

On the other side of the coin, I feel like Caitlyn has let her abilities atrophy while she raised her children. Now that they're both out of the house, she should go on a journey to retrain herself.

I think Caitlyn's more content right where she is. She may go back to training at the temple to fill the time. In other news, I'm looking through all my old characters trying to figure out if any of them had ties to the Sinclairs at all. I think the answer is not many—well, other than being Jedi. But there's, um... how many temples now? And the Skywalker? I think the Order is big enough that half of my characters haven't even met.

I suppose Hirai could have had a child. No idea with whom, though... need someone old enough to have a kid around Tosh's age.

There we go, I has a candidate. Pair the hotshot racer with a hotshot pilot, I'm sure they won't rub each other the wrong way. At any given moment, it will be no problem at all for them to decide who's going to drive. ;)

Since we're talking about pairing, I can think of at least two other pairings for my characters that Kalja and Cadence might run into during their travels.

One would be Kail and Sona. I think they would inevitably have a daughter. What do you think, Mir? I could see their daughter having some interesting story beats to explore. By default she could also be a fairly powerful character if she inherits the best of Lin and Silserian genetics. Plus, if she's given her mother's sword and pairs that with Mokurai... she could be pretty formidable.

The other would be between one of my characters and one of Tal's, so it's not really relevant here. :oldrazz:

Pryde, I know you used "Placeholder" for Lyana's father because you're still figuring out who her father is... but wouldn't it be interesting if "Placeholder" and "Darth Placeholder" from Cadence's wiki entry were one and the same?

I was doing something similar to Pryngles today and I was reading Sona and the sword.

Interestingly, once I saw that Cadence's thing was singing I was surprised you didn't bring in a Lin-Shi Monk or two.

What I have currently is that Tosh and Akain are going to Caitlyn (the planet) and Tosh is finally joining the Night's Watch.

Never got a chance to do my boardwide story so I'm going to see what can be done with it, while exploring the Spear. Also toying with one of the two endgames for the Hauc story fully coming true.

Also speaking of Green Squadron, might be running into Vague this summer, haven't seen him since like 2018 I think. Maybe 2019.

Kalja and Cadence might visit Lin'La'Se space at some point during their galactic tour/training...

I'm still debating what rank Kail would be in the twenty years since Legends.

I will have to think about that. Not sure how many times one can ride the 'my family member turned to the dark side' plotline.

Isis has a hard time taking no for an answer. And she has a very strong loyalty to family and friends.

Sure but she also's been a senator for many years and would or should understand even if she believed Akain and Caitlyn don't have a right to refuse (which is weird because Cadi is their daughter more than she's Isis' niece), she can't force a sovereign/sovereign nation to just accept a foreign agent into their territory and on to one of their operations because she feels like it.

It's less what she did (because we were planning on having Lyana join anyway) and more how she did it.

It was my understanding that Night's Watch was an organization, not a foreign nation. :(

"While normally, he wouldn't want to step on young Ardin's toes when it came to jurisdiction, whoever these people were had technically kidnapped the daughter of a sovereign ruler the office of which he was sworn to defend. Even if said sovereign ruler was a relatively absentee ruler and whose councils took care of the day to day affairs.

If his daughter hadn't been kidnapped and as far as he knew currently located in the area, he could have just glassed it and carried on with his day."

Which part of it, though? The Night's Watch wiki calls it an organization and there isn't any info on the Caitlyn or Crescent Holdings pages. I just assumed it was a private military group.

I haven't updated either Caitlyn or Night's Watch since I made them years ago. That's part of what this thread is going to explore/explain.

A bit of trivia in case it ever comes up: Leidias-built lightsabers have the family crest on the bottom of the hilt: https://starwars-exodus.fandom.com/wiki ... _Crest.png

Just one way you can tell an authentic Leidias original from those counterfeits they sell on the underground markets. ;)

cause like he is batshit insane. but he's not a monster.
