The New Jedi Order: Redux
You guys ever have one of those days where you just look back at one of your old stories and realize you hate like 90% of it? Well, that recently happened to me. I've been thinking about all the ideas I had for this thread and where the story was supposed to go and what not and a lot of those ideas were just really, really dumb. Honestly, I don't even know what I was thinking... Anyway, the plan here is to rewrite the story from the beginning with a plot that is much more grounded in reality. The leader of the "NJO" is not going to be some immortal being who is 3000 years old and loosely connected to the Emperor but rather just some guy who found a few ancient scrolls and started a cult, much, much simpler and more believable. Also, Felicity's family will not be involved this time around cause that was a really stupid idea and I hate it. >< I much rather prefer the vague, "Oh her parents died fighting in a war," back story I had before.
I imagine the beginning of the story will happen pretty much the same way so as far as what the rest of the Order knows about what's happening nothing will really change so no one has to do anything differently. Though for anyone who would like to participate things will happen a bit differently. For starters Felicity's personality will be much more consistent, there were things I had her say and do that really didn't fit the character at all so those are out. And, um... Well, I guess there isn't an "and" yet. Really it's just the way that Felicity behaved at times that irked me and the dubious connection I made (or rather was going to make) between her family and the Children of the Emperor, which if you've played a Jedi Knight in SWTOR you would know. Almost 90% of that story was inspired by (read "stolen") from SWTOR and that's the 90% I'm throwing out.
Anyway, the timeline isn't changing. All of this is happening before the events that are occurring right now and I'm not planning to continue the NJO storyline after its conclusion as I had intended to do before (if it concludes, no guarantees... >.> ). The only thing the rest of the galaxy needs to know is that everything is fine, nothing is broken. This will be a self-contained story. A self contained story with galaxy-spanning consequences but one that will have no real impact whatsoever. It's one of those no one really knows about it because it didn't actually happen things.
Well, I think that's about it. I'll have the rewritten first post up soon (I hope).

By the way I know what happens now! Also, I'm probably going to change the title cause NJO doesn't quite fit anymore...

I'd like Feldar to still be involved.
I might even post IC to make it happen.
Actually, I take that back. When this happens, expect me to show up for some IC posting with Feldar. I can take an hour every few days for a solid post.

I was hoping you'd say that. I was actually about to post and ask you and Balsa for your permission to use Feldar and Cyrilla if you couldn't spare the time cause I still want them to be part of the story but if you're coming back then hey that's even better!

I think I'll wait a while before I jump in. Mainly because I'm not sure who to utilize just yet. If this was 07-10, I'd have just thrown the Nagai in there, but he's too old now. Damn old man, he is.

Don't suppose you have someone with a ship? Preferably a free trader. Need someone to carry us somewhere where we're probably not going to find a lot of air. >.> I also kind of want to throw together a motley crew, give it that Star Wars feeling so if you have a Wookiee too that'd be great.
... Actually, I'm just kidding--but not about the Wookiee! I never kid about Wookiees. ><

What does that have to do with a ship?

The uniforms were stolen, taken from actual rangers. Their mannerisms could be the tells, though, they definitely didn't behave like rangers. Also, I think you made references to things that are, um... "Too" current. Like the original thread happened around the time of the final battle with Sivter, but that's cool. We're wiping the slate clean anyway so we can make it current, that's no biggie.

We should call our first single "Back in the Temple Again, but Totally Different This Time." It'll top the charts in the UK for ten weeks, and it'll go platinum in the US.
Also, we should probably move the old thread to Stories or something. As an organizational note.

I don't feel like there's a point to make a post with Certh just accepting this request from Jade, so we'll assume that he's doing his best to shadow Felicity and Feldar at the moment.

As much as I want to join, I don't think I can because I can't keep up the posting speed. It'd be unfair to you guys.
Basically, RL is a pain right now. One of the company's major vendors failed a critical quality assurance step, and now we have to pull all of their work in-house. Some $100 million is at risk. So my team is working 60 hour weeks for the next month or so until the work gets done, if it gets done. I'll know in two months if we just cost 500 Ohioans their jobs.
No pressure!
So, yeah, if I joined, I'd slow the thread down tremendously, so I can't do it. Sorry.

Re: The New Jedi Order: Redux
I decided Feldar needed a more reasonable motivation than before. Every time I posted in the last iteration of the thread, I had to keep coming up with reasons for Feldar to be there. It didn't always make a lot of sense. I'd like to think that this will make the character more interesting, although - once his emotion fades - he'll probably still err on the side of caution and mercy more than Felicity (or Cyrilla, if she's there somehow).

Edited your post slightly. Just added a bit of introspection from Felicity to help justify her convictions on this.

I vote that it's Mir's turn.
I mean, what's Feldar going to do? "And Feldar replied, 'Where do we find a ship? I haven't got one. Do you know any Wookiees?'"
