Re: Avengers: This Day
Ben was not thrilled with the group. They were making progress on the plan but it was slow going, and mostly due to bickering and displays of egotistic attitudes. This strike force was so far not a team. In fact, Captain America could barely consider it functional at all. He turned his attention to the door of the War Room as it opened and the Black Widow walked in, apparently recovered from her earlier ordeal. Ben approached her and put his hand on her shoulder, "Are you all right?"
Katarina nodded, "Fine, Cap. Just glad to see the cavalry."
She walked past him and approached Black Panther. She smiled slightly and nodded her head, "King T'Shon. Thank you for getting me out of the mound in one piece."
The other man didn't speak. He simply bowed his head in a gesture of acknowledgement that showed his deep nobility. Cap turned his attention to the rest of the group. "Listen up. We are done with the games. We have a situation here and it needs to be handled. If you don't want to help then you can leave."
No one said anything nor did they move towards the door. Cap waited for a moment before continuing. "Okay then. From here we will be splitting up."
He motioned towards Iron Man. "Mr. Burke, you and Spider-Man need to start tracking down the radiation signature. Wolverine and Wonder Man are with you. When you find it, if we're not back, move to intercept. We need to contain this quickly."
Cap then looked at Black Widow and Hawkeye, "You two are coming with me. We may not know who this new Doom person is but we sure as hell know where the last one came from. Victor von Doom, king of Latveria. Called himself Doctor Doom. The man had a son; Sebastian. He is the current monarch of Latveria and I would definitely consider him a person of interest. We'll need to question him. In a purely diplomatic fashion of course."
Captain America turned his gaze to the Panther, "Having another monarch with us would definitely make the diplomatic portion of the mission much easier."

Toretto, still unhappy with this "Wonder Man" moniker, walked over to where Spider-Man was. "Listen, I just wanted to apologize. I didn't want to get you in to an argument with Black Panther over there, and I wanted to make sure that you know I've got your back. You're pretty interesting, for a geeky scientist guy." He said with a shrug. "I mean, I wasn't that nice to the nerds in high school, maybe I'm trying to make up for it. But you're good in my book."

"Diplomacy, yes." T'Shon said. "This is something that I have some experience in. I will accompany you, if you wish me to, Captain. Hopefully we can find a peaceful resolution to this problem that we're having to deal with. However, I will caution you that should I find out that this Sebastian von Doom and Latveria is responsible for this attack on my country, the repercussions for it will be something that will long be felt by his country. Suffice to say, you may need to intervene to save him. I give you fair warning."

Re: Avengers: This Day
Beneath the mask, Brady smiled slightly at finally 'someone' in the group had some normal emotions. "Naww...don't worry about it Wondy. I'm use to my big mouth getting me in trouble.....especially lately. Course being around the wild child with metal pitchforks for hands isn't helping things."
"As for the 'not nice to the geeks' statement. In this day and age, being a geek is the new rave. Once the girls find out you got a high IQ, images of Bill Gates fill their heads."
He fires a webline to the ceiling and two of the waldos hoist him up to eye level of Torreto. "Truth be told my ionic jock-like friend. My head is still spinning from everything. Shit, just the other day I was just another science geek playing Blackops 3, slugging down Monster Drinks and eating Hot Pockets for 24 hours. Now I'm in a foreign country and emboiled in some sort of world crisis, and fighting along side some of the world's greatest heroes."

"Hot pockets. Eww." Toretto said. "I think we're going to have to work on your diet." He said. "You can't be all supery eating that crap." He added.
He turned to the rest of the group. "Are we leaving or not?"

"Diet?" Brady says quizzically, and then looks down at his skinny, but muscular, frame. "Do I ..look like I need to diet?"
"Sheeesh! Once a jock...always a jock."

Toretto looked back. "Just because you draw abs on the suit with a sharpie doesn't mean that you're all fit." He said with a smile. "I mean, I'm sure the algorithm or whatever you used to draw them the right way took a lot of time, so I'll give you a good grade for effort." He added.

If Brady's mask's orbs could widen in shock, they would have. "What the f..."
Spiderman steps over to a nearby table, and puts is elbow on the top of it, with his open had up in the air. With his other hand, he makes the classic Matrix 'Come get some' gesture. "You scared Wonder Bread?"
Torretto actually chuckles at the little man. "Are you kidding me? Kid, I would mop the floor with your skinny ass."
"We really don't have time for this." Captain America states with a heavy sigh, and an apologetic look to Black Panther.
"I got a C-Note on the kid." Burke states with a smile.
"I'll take that bet, and double it." Wolverine replies and holds up two hundred dollar bills.
Torretto looks at everyone around the room, and now it appears everyone is looking at him. "Ok, ok....but remember kid, I can go toe to toe with Thor. I'll go easy on you." He steps over to the table and Torretto takes Spiderman's obviously smaller and much thinner hand.
"Don't do me any favors Ion boy." Burke retorts. "Mr. Burke...if you would."
"Last chance to back out Wolvie." Burke turns to Wolverine with a smirk.
"Fat chance. They kid is going to get his arm broke." Wolverine grumbles.
"Ok, don't say I didn't give you a chance.......GO!"
Torretto flexes, but Spiderman's arm doesn't budge. "Oh! Did we start yet?" Brady turns to Burke. "I'm sorry. You going to go yet Wondy?"
The smug smile on Torretto's face suddenly dips downward. He obviously didn't want to hurt the kid, and didn't put much strength because of it. "What the hell?" He mutters, and then he applies more strength, but again...Spiderman's arm doesn't move.
"You were saying something about ...diet and being fit? Maybe you should lay off the Doritos." Brady states, the orbs on his mask almost appearing to mock Torretto, with his own reflection.
Clearly irritated, Torretto leans into it and begins to apply even more strength, enough that the metal tabletop begins to indent where their elbows are resting. But still, Spiderman's arm refuses to move.
"God Dammit, this is a trick...some bullshit Stark Tech!" Torretto grumbles.
"Nope sweetie pie, that's all me." Brady states with a smugness in his voice. "My suit is still in stand-by mode."
At this point, Brady realizes that what he just said was the truth, and that truth came rushing home all too quickly. He had never been a strong kid, his body was always weak and frail. But here he was holding one of the strongest men in the world at a standstill. Granted, Torretto was probably not giving him his all, due to the fact that Brady was a small looking guy, and most people general moral disiplines about using their full strength against an obviously weaker opponent. But the fact still remained, that if whatever was happening with his body wasn't happening, Torretto could have been asleep and 'still' beat old Brady in an arm wrestling match.
Realization dawned underneath Spiderman's mask, and a broad smile crossed his face. "My turn." With that, Brady flexed his arm downward and the impact shattered the metal table.
"I'll take that." Burke stated as he snatched the hundred dollar bills out of a stunned Wolverine's hand. "Thanks for playing, I'll be here all week."

Re: Avengers: This Day
Doomstadt, Latveria
The Wakandan plane entered Latverian air space with permission from the government. On board sat the King with three of his new allies. The company remained fairly quiet, aware that this little outing could go one of two ways. Either they would discover that von Doom had nothing to do with the attack on Wakanda or they would end up with a full scale war on their hands. They had been escorted in by a squadron of Latverian fighters, directly to the royal landing strip and then taken to Castle Doom, the national capital building. It was here where they were made comfortable in a large meeting room until the King arrived.
A short time later the door opened and two guards entered and took up residence at the back of the room. They were followed by a well dressed man in a black suit. He was handsome and had an aura of importance about him. He made a friendly gesture with open arms, "King T'Shon of Wakanda. Escorted by none other than Captain America I bid you all, welcome to Latveria. I am Sebastian von Doom."
He shook T'Shon's hand and then Captain America's before sitting down across from them, "I've heard of the attack on your country. I am deeply sorry for what you must be going through. Tell me, how may I help"

Stark Tower
New York City, USA
Iron Man had taken the Quinjet back to New York, along with Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Wonder Man. The group stood inside one of Burke's high tech labs with a small gathering of Stark scientists. Alex had removed his helmet, though the rest of his armor remained. His signature sense of humor had toned down while he worked alongside the scientists and Spider-Man. T'Shon had allowed them to take a very small sample of Vibranium in order to track it. They were working on that specific issue right at the moment. Burke frowned, "We need to expand the search grid. We aren't getting anything right now. Either we need to increase power or Doom has found a way to block the signal."

With his mask exposing the lower half of his face, Brady studied the scanners and the readings from the vibranium samples that they were revealing. He rubs his lower chin in thought for a moment and then turns to Alex.
"You know, if we re-task a couple of the Stark satellites that are up there, I think I have a way to find our missing vibranium."
He keys in several programs and then pulls up one of the Stark Sonic Surveyor satellite in orbits. "As you can see, the S.S.S. program was being used to map the Earth and it's core by using sonic waves that bounce back, much like a sonar, but in much more detail."
"If we amp up the sonic signature..not enough to trigger a earthquake or anything, but enough give the sonic waves a more 'physical' force, then no matter what our Iron Maiden villian is using to block our scans, it won't block our sonic scanner. Since vibranium absorbs kinetic energy, there you go."
"If will be easy enough to then scan the areas of no 'bounce back' of the signal, and see if it might be a naturally absorbing material then move to the next area. If our normal scans are being 'blocked', as well as we are not getting a bounce back from the sonics...well...you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to figure that out."

“Diplomacy is something that I learned very well from my adopted father’s knee.” T’Shon said. “He taught me when it was right to be verbose and when it was wiser to be succinct. This is one of those times.” He said. “You say that you’ve heard of the attack on my country. That is well and good. What you may not have heard is that one of the attackers, in fact, the one leading them, wore Latverian colors and looked not unlike your father. Considering your father’s past and the history of the name von Doom, it is not something that I can disregard. I’m not accusing you of anything, I merely wish to know what you know.” T’Shon stated.

Re: Avengers: This Day
Wolverine nodded in agreement with Spider-Man. He was no boy-genius or master of the sciences, by any means, but he knew enough to get the idea that was being portrayed. "We can use his own defensive measures against him," he said. "Root him out by turning his own precautions to our advantage. Gotta say, Web-Head, you might prove to be of some use to us, yet."
"Wait... was that a compliment?" Spider-Man said. "Never thought I'd hear one coming from you."
"Don't flatter yourself, kid," Wolverine retorted. "You merely make a valid point. It wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure that stuff out."
"Still, from you... I'll take what I can get."
Wolverine ignored the comment. "So, Burke, looks like we got a sound plan in place... how 'bout we find some vibranium?"

OOC:
I am taking Hawkeye out of the thread. Please disregard all Hawkeye references that came before this.
IC:
Doomstadt, Latveria
Von Doom seemed taken aback for a moment. His regal eyes settled on T'Shon. His gaze never wavered, "I understand your concerns, your majesty. Unfortunately, my father left a rather less than desirable impression on the world. I have worked very hard to change Latveria's reputation, not to mention that of the von Doom name. I assure you, if there is a new Doctor Doom running around I have nothing to do with him."
Captain America intervened before T'Shon responded, "Have you any idea who it could be?"
Sebastian shook his head, "Unfortunately no. My father's armor is in our national museum, along with the majority of his inventions. The only thing locked away are his arcane books. Myself and other government leaders felt they were too dangerous to display. In short, all of his belongings are accounted for. If there was a way I could assist in discovering this man's identity I would certainly be more than happy to help."

Re: Avengers: This Day
T’Shon turned and looked at Captain America.
“He isn’t lying. I can tell.”
It was true. The heart beat of Sebastian von Doom had not changed in any way to indicate that the man was lying. T’Shon’s abilities, augmented by his connection to Bast, allowed him to detect such things. Often times, hormones and pheromones would change as the body needed them to and the odors rising off of the body had not changed either. Everything pointed to the man telling the truth. But there was something about it that was perfect, too perfect. He wasn’t sure what it was. He didn’t like being fooled, not twice, not by the same man. There was something going on here, but his ability to determine just what had been compromised. As talented as Captain America was, this was not his field of expertise.
He was about to speak when Captain America’s communicator went off. Burke’s voice was heard.
“We’ve found him.”
Captain America replied into the communicator. “Sounds good, thanks for the update.”
T’Shon looked from the Captain to Sebastian. “I do apologize, but obviously, we couldn’t afford not to investigate the most obvious lead.” He said.
“Of course.” Sebastian replied. “Think nothing of it.”
Within a few minutes they were gone, headed out on the Quinjet to rendezvous with Iron Man and the rest of the team.

“An island.”
“Well, multiple, technically.” Spider-Man said, looking at the map. “The Cape Verde islands off the coast of West Africa.”
The group was standing in one of Vanguard’s ready rooms, in Washington D.C., preparing for the mission that was before them. Satellite imagery was displayed on the walls, with real time updates replacing old, obsolete intelligence. A datafile on the islands was also displayed, with the pertinent information that one might need.
“Are we in touch with the government of the islands?” Captain America asked.
Iron Man nodded. Ever the soldier and diplomat. “We are.” He said, the helmet in his hands. “We need to move quickly though, the local government was none too pleased to find out that there’s some bad guy plotting world domination or something like that on their soil. Let’s face it, after what happened at Wakanda, the Cape Verde armed forces aren’t going to stand a chance if they go in there.”
“True enough.” Black Panther said. “No doubt they have courage though.”
“Right.” Iron Man said, nodding sagely. “Shall we get to it?” He asked.
“Question.” Sean Toretto said. “The satellite imagery hasn’t given us any information on the capabilities of this guy. We only have prior knowledge to go off of?” He asked.
“Yes. The raw imagery is still being processed right now and we’re not a hundred percent sure of where precisely on the islands all of the Vibranium radiation is coming from. Localizing it will take time.”
“Which we’ll have on the flight over.” Sean added.
“You are smart.”
“Former Army Ranger.” Captain America said with a smile, and clapped Toretto on the shoulder. “Shall we?”

“Shall we?”

"I got shotgun!" Spiderman shouted and leapt in the air towards the exit of the room...only to be snatched by housing of his waldos by Toretto. Spiderman flailed his arm and legs in the air like he was running, his pace slowing in incriments until he hung limply as Toretto turned him around to face one another.
"Grow up kid." Toretto said flatly.
"What, and become the self-made man that you are today?" Spidey replied sarcastically. "No thanks Ionic Steroid Man. I like me...especially the new and improved me." He tried to turn around and walk away, but then remembered he was being held in the air by Toretto. "Uh...you ya mind glowstick?"
Toretto dropped Spiderman back to his feet. "You definitely have some 'issue', ya know that? Ya definitely need to grow a humor bone...oh...wait. Do you even have a backbone in that ionic soup?" He thought for a moment. "Naw, never mind.....SHOTGUN!"
He quickly flipped through the air, and bounded out the door towards the Quinjet hanger.
"You have to admit, having a little youthful exhuberance with a bunch of stiffnecks like you guys, might just be what we need for this one." Alex stated with a smirk.

“As long as everyone is able to get the job done when we need them to.” Captain America said. He looked at the Black Panther. “Are you ready, Your Highness?” He asked.
“Yes, Captain. It is time to punish these people, whoever they are, for the damage that they caused my country.”
The group headed over to the Quinjet and boarded, everyone finding seats. The jet lifted up off the ground and moved out of the hangar at blindingly fast speeds. They’d reach Cape Verde soon enough.

Re: Avengers: This Day
Brady moved forward in the cabin of the Quinjet and knelt down next to Burke, whom was guiding the craft to their destination. "I think Cap wants to have a briefing on the plan once we sit down on the Island of Dr. Moreau. You should probably sit in on that bossman, I can handle the jet."
"Since when were you certified to pilot the Quinjets?" Burke asked.
"Um, the flight controls were designed by me Boss, which I then used as Guidance Controls for the Iron Spider."
"Very intuitive Quinn. That must be why I keep you around." Burke deadpanned, and rose from the seat.
The seat automatically adjusted forward and down to accommodate for Brady's smaller size. With a nearly silent hiss, Moe slithered from the Iron Spider suit's back compartment, and the piercing point of the waldo's arm transformed into it's data retrieval instrument and connected with the port on the Quinjet's console. Inside Spiderman's mask, the HUD came up showing the course, speed and time to destination, along with the various instrumentation readings.
The second waldo, Brady called Larry hissed out from the compartment, and snaked along the ceiling of the back cabin where the rest of the group gathered around the holographic console, it's listening device activated so Brady could listen in to the briefing.
"Alright people, listen up." Davis stated as he looked around the console at each and every member of the team. Activating the holo's emitters, a 3-D image appeared, showing the buildings and terrain of the targeted destination. Several building were highlighted in a red aura depicting targets of opportunity, with a large compound against the base of the mountainous region that was halo'ed in a bright blinking green.
"Iron Man and Wonder Man, you two are our air superiority, not to mention our best at creating the most destruction. I need you two to take out the artillery batteries halo'ed in red. Then 'plow the field' as the rest of us make our way to the main target here." He points to the green halo'ed area.
"What kinda forces are we looking at Cap?" Wolverine grumbled.
"Best intel we have is around 3000 ground forces, with several batteries of energy cannons, and a couple groups of armored units."
In the cockpit, Brady leans over to Ethan and whispers. "Did he just say 3000 ground forces?"
Ethan merely nods, while Brady leans back in his seat. "...shit."
"What about Air, they have any jets that can...."
TINGLING....runs down the back of Brady's spine, he takes a second to look at the radar, which shows that the skies around them are clear, but the tingling sensation grows like a nail being pushed further into his skin.
"HANG ON TO SOMETHING GUYS!!!" Spiderman yells out and then spins the Quinjet tightly to the right, guided by his senses.
Outside and just behind the Quinjet there is a large explosion as a cloaked missle detonates in the very spot they would been. Brady's senses continue to tingle as they sense more danger coming for them.
"Incoming!!! is all Spiderman can scream out as he uses his senses to guide them through the hail of invisible missles arrowing in on them.

Re: Avengers: This Day
He was good, but Quinn wasn’t able to dodge all of the missiles. The jet rocked once, twice, and then more sirens went off. “We lose something?” Captain America asked.
“Just the wing. Not that important.” Quinn said. “Unless...you know....we don’t want to die.” He added, his voice getting smaller as he spoke.
“Plan stays the same.” Davis said, looking at the rest of the team. “Quinn, try to land this thing. Everyone else, let’s move.”
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
It was a good plan.
Iron Man and Sean Toretto were the strongest that they had. Both were able to lift over sixty tons, cementing their position, with Wonder Man easily being able to lift many multiple times that. Both could fly. They were out of the jet and moving through the air. Iron Man utilized his suit’s advanced technologies to try to break through the cloaking devices so that he could see the missiles and then shoot them down or avoid them. Toretto was far more direct, opting to just slam through the missiles and take his chances. So far he had yet to find something that could actually beat him in a fight, so it made sense.
Toretto and Iron Man both ended up tossing some of the missiles far out in the water, where they exploded underneath the waves.
However, the best of intel could still be quite wrong.
There was more than just the ground forces that Captain America had stated. There were close to five thousand soldiers on the ground, a plethora of energy cannons, armored units, and as Sean found out very quickly, two large destroyer sized ships in the water, both of which were equipped with anti-aircraft batteries.
The anti-aircraft batteries swiveled in place, and opened fire.
“They shouldn’t be able to hit us.” Iron Man said over their tactical communications. “We’re too small.”
“Good enough for-” Sean’s reply was cut off as a RIM-162 ESS missile slammed into him. Eight hundred thousand dollars worth of missile later, he floated in the air. More than a little annoyed, he keyed his comm. “Uh, what were you saying?” He asked.
Iron Man looked down at one of the ships and then the other. “They’re packing a pair of AK-630M1-2s each. Those are decently expensive.”
“Yeah, cause affording a pair of destroyers wasn’t in the first place.”
Sean chuckled at Brady’s joke. “We gotta take those out.”
“Already ahead of you,” Came the robotic reply. “I’ve got the one on the left.”
Naval vessels are thousands of tons worth of steel and components. Hundreds of lives, trained to fight as a single unit to achieve a victorious result. But no matter how strong they were, they were no match for Iron Man’s uni beam. The pulse of energy shot out of the chest plate, and cut the destroyer in half. Explosions could be seen throughout as the destroyer started to sink.
Eager to match his comrade, Sean moved, picking up speed. Hitting just under Mach 1, he slammed into the other destroyer, breaking it into pieces. Underwater, he turned and came up. Those members of the team who had a free moment were able to watch as he lifted over three thousand tons of steel into the air. With a smirk, he tossed it, throwing it as far as he could, easily a few handfuls of nautical miles.
“Anti-air in the water...taken care of.” He said.

Black Panther landed on the ground, courtesy of a jetpack that had been in the Quinjet. Leaving it strapped on, he brought the rifle up to bear that he had also borrowed from the Quinjet. It wasn’t of Wakandan make, so he wasn’t sure of it’s quality, but it would have to do. Opening fire, he started running forward. Not long after, he saw Captain America touch down and join the fight. The Wolverine did to, though he hadn’t bothered with a jetpack. He’d just jumped.

Re: Avengers: This Day
With everyone safely off the Quinjet, Quinn was gritting his teeth beneath his mask, as the controls were complaining very strenuously about this missing wing. Quinn was still plugged into the dataport of the Quinjet through his waldo Moe, and the HUD on the inside of his mask was fluxuating and intermittently through the damaged systems.
--Spider-man, what your status?-- The Captain's voice came though his internal speakers inside his mask. --We need you on the ground ASAP!
"Really Cap?" Quinn responded. "My status is that one way or the other, I'll be on the ground. Now, whether I'm in one piece...'that' is the question."
Quinn looked out the window and saw Captain America's group beginning their charge towards the primary target. What the Captain and his group couldn't see due to the rise of the land in front of them, was a swarm of armored soldiers which looked like the Doombots they faced back in Wakanda.
"Oh Dear..." Quinn said. "Cap, you got a bunch of party crashers coming over the rise that you guys are heading towards."
--How many?--
"Hmm...I would say all of them." Quickly Quinn took a look at the Quinjet's readings and then banked the dying craft sharply around and fought to align the craft with the stretch of road the group was moving towards.
--What the hell are you doing?!-- Cap yelled in his ear.
"Duck Cap!" Quinn snapped back, and Quinn brought the Quinjet a few feet over the groups heads and crashed the jet into the front line of the enemy soldiers.
The Quinjet slid down the road taking out dozens of the soldiers that stood in it's way, literally paving the way for Captain America, Wolverine and Ethan. Soldier's bodies were flung in the air like ragdolls, or crushed underneath the jet as it crashed into a building at the end of the road and exploded in a massive fireball which incinerated dozens more.
"Spider-man!" Cap yelled as the jet went up in a blaze.
"I'm right here." Came Spider-man's voice behind them. "You don't have to yell Cap...jeez."
Spider-man gently landed just behind them, his waldoes splayed out behind him, a thin layer of webbing between them acting as a drag as he came to earth. "Man, I bet whoever built those Doombots are pissed off right now. I had to have taken out at least a few dozen of so with that. Not bad for the newcomer huh?
Captain America merely looked at Spider-man, with a strange expression on is face. Wolverine on the other hand had a smirk stretched across his lips. "Kid, those ain't Doombots..." He then pointed towards a the tangle wreck of soldiers that were crushed along the road. Spider-man could plainly see the broken nubs of bone and torn flesh protruding from the armored suits. Blood ran in rivulets down the gentle slope of the road.
Spider-man's posture slumped slightly. "What? You mean those are...."
Wolverine slapped him on the back as he walked past. "Nice job Kid...welcome to the war."
"But..you mean...there were..." Spider-man fell to his knees, the lower half of his mask suddenly retracted and he promptly vomited on the ground in front of him.

Re: Avengers: This Day
Captain America walked over and put his hand on Spider-Man's shoulder. For a moment he said nothing before he knelt down beside the other man, "Sometimes death happens, son. This is a battle. People die. We do the best we can but we are only human. You did what you had to do, soldier. One day it may happen again and it won't be any easier but you need to stand up and continue the fight no matter what."
"Cap," Wolverine's gruff voice made Ben look up. Coming over the hill was an army, a large one. He could see human soldiers mixed in with Doombots of varying size and weaponry. A full frontal assault was not the wisest course of action right now. However, they weren't going to be able to sneak around. Their enemy was well aware of their location. The super soldier spoke into his comm unit to the team, "Listen up! Spider-Man, Panther! Take to the sides. You both are quick and agile. It's time for some guerrilla warfare! Wolverine, feel free to do what you do best. Straight down the middle! Widow, you and I back up our resident mutant! Wonder Man, get down here and partner up with Wolverine! We could use you on the front lines! Burke, we need cover fire. Take out as many as you can before they can get to us."
It was amazing what this group was capable of when they acted as one. Black Panther and Spider-Man were so quick that their enemies were hitting each other as the pair dodged in and out. The King of Wakanda was a true warrior, born for the role. His vibranium claws ripped through metal plating and military armor alike. He was a man hell bent on making his enemy answer for what he had done to T'Shon's country and no one was going to stand in his way. Spider-Man was not a natural warrior but his new powers served him well. His spider sense allowed him to move with such swiftness and precision that few on the planet would have been truly able to hit him. Webbing and waldoes flew everywhere, landing multiple hits. It was clear that Brady was being careful to not kill anyone. He was simply incapacitating the soldiers while easily ripping through the automated killers that supported them.
Black Widow was proving what a truly remarkable individual she was. She was a spy, a marksman, a soldier, and very clearly a skilled assassin. She was one of the most well rounded members of the team and she was using the majority of her skills to dispatch enemies left and right with her guns, her Widow's Bite, and her martial prowess. Captain America was truly impressed by her combat abilities. The super soldier held his ground next to her, moving faster than any normal human could. His training and abilities allowed him to move with such fluid precision that almost every action he took managed to dispatch another enemy. His red, white, and blue shield flew from his hand again and again, landing multiple blows every time. He was a solider unlike any other.
Sean Toretto landed with incredible force on the front line, taking out numerous enemies. His ionic energy looked eerie as it erupted from his eyes and hands, decimating the forces that lay before him. His power was incredible, and likely even he had no idea what he was capable of. In the front of the group was the mutant Wolverine. His claws extended, cutting everything they touched. Too many people believed he was a feral scrapper but Captain America knew better. This man was an honorable warrior and he fought as such. There were few that could stand against him and none of them were in the group of enemies they were currently fighting.
Cap looked to the skies and still hadn't seen Iron Man, "Burke! Where are you? We need air support!"
Alex's metallic voice rang back, "I'm working on it, Cap! I'm in a bit of a dog fight up here but I've got an idea. You guys just hold the line until I get there!"

Re: Avengers: This Day
Burke had told Wonder Man to go on without him. The ground crew needed reinforcements but a new threat needed to be dealt with up in the sky. Iron Man's long range scanners had picked up six incoming aerial vehicles approaching extremely fast. He couldn't allow them to get to the island. His companions had little means of dealing with an assault from above while also fighting a battle on the ground. It was up to Burke.
He saw the fighters incoming. They were sleek and dangerous looking. Clearly top notch engineering went into these planes, "DATA, put reserve power into the thrusters."
The English accent of Iron Man's virtual assistant, DATA, echoed through his helmet, "Sir, would it not be more prudent to place reserve power into your shields or life support?" Burke shook his head, "Won't need it in my shields because they won't hit me if I'm moving fast enough."
"Very good, sir. Yet another brash yet typical response. Might I at least suggest evasive action? Perhaps a more tactically defensive strategy then you are currently pondering?"
Alex smirked, "Oh DATA. Never any faith in me. Have I ever gotten us blown up before?"
"Not yourself, no. Due to snap decisions on your part I have been blown up or disabled 43 times."
Iron Man laughed, "Forty three? That's all? I could have sworn we were in the triple digits at this point."
"Charming as ever, sir."
The planes were nearly on him at this point. Iron Man ignited his thrusters and charged forward. He weaved back and forth, dodging enemy fire as the six planes began their attack. They were quick, much faster than any fighter jet that Burke had encountered thus far. He was nearly hit several times, not even having a big enough opening to return fire. Burke frowned under his mask, "What the hell do they feed these things?"
"I'm uncertain, sir. Perhaps billionaire super heroes."
"Oh now you get a sense of humor. Good timing, DATA," The armored avenger flew forward continuing to distract the planes from making it to the island. As he assaulted one of his attackers with repulsor fire he noticed there wasn't a cockpit, "DATA, scan for life signs."
"There are none. The planes appear to be automated."
Just like the Doombots. Iron Man smiled as the six planes were preparing to make another pass. A compartment opened up on his right arm and several tiny missile-like items could be seen. He again began to dodge his attackers, firing the homing missiles as the opportunity allowed. Eventually all six had a small, circular device embedded into their metal plating. When they turned to attack yet again Iron Man stood his ground. Not moving, Alex Burke simply smiled, "Simon says stop."
With that DATA entered the on board computers on each of the six planes simultaneously. From the outside there were blue sparks that erupted from the mobile devices. The planes began to fall for a few moments before rebooting and soaring up to meet Iron Man once more. This time they did not attack, they merely hovered nearby. DATA, and Iron Man by proxy, was now in control of some serious aerial support, "Let's go blow something up, shall we?"
"My thoughts exactly, sir."
Iron Man and his new weapons made their way to the battle.

"Wolverine, feel free to do what you do best," Captain America said to the mutant in the group.
Wolverine grinned. "Music to my ears, bub." He popped his claws and went charging toward the enemy, even before Captain America was done giving his orders. He didn't bother to wait for his backup. Wolverine was on the move.
With a furious warcry, he dove himself into the heat of battle, tearing into the enemy forces with his adamantium claws. Wolverine decapitated one of the Doombots, before he got hit in the head by a rifle round. He flinched away for a second, before looking at the source with an annoyed sneer. Wolverine charged at the soldier who made the mistake of pissing him off, and ran his claws directly into his skull.
As he withdrew them from his dead enemy, Wolverine brought himself around to cut off the barrel of a nearby soldier's assault rifle, then drove his claws deep into his chest.
He was nowhere near as apprehensive as Spider-Man was about killing. Wolverine's whole life was revolved around killing others. And when someone allowed him to do what he did best... well, what he did best was not very nice at all.
He dismembered a solder's hand, while bringing his claws around to dig deep into the armor plating of one of the Doombots, before throwing it over his head with such force that it went flying into the enemy formation. Wolverine charged after it, throwing himself into a small cluster of both guards and Doombots, where he immediately started to thin out more of their ranks.
He was joined by the others, but paid little attention to what they did, apart from noting their locations in order to avoid any incidents.

Re: Avengers: This Day
It didn’t take long for there to be more air support called in. Burke’s air support was soon pitted against a score of their brethren and the numbers game overwhelmed Iron Man’s forces. Some of them, on their descent to death fell into the waters surrounding the island that they were above. Iron Man had to drop to the ground in order to evade and when he did, he found that the ground fight was just as bad, if not worse than the aerial battle.
Black Panther was moving through the ranks of the enemy forces, but something about it all did not feel right. There was something wrong in his mind, and he wasn’t sure what it was. Who could have amassed so many men and soldiers? It didn’t seem possible, most of the other governments around the world, the larger ones at least would have known and they would have stepped in. Furthermore, the raw materials that one would have needed in order to facilitate the construction of these robots. It seemed to be staggering. He kept that in the back of his mind as he fought, something that he would dwell on later. If he thought about it now, he would do nothing but get himself killed.
With a grunt, he cleaved through another of the Doombots. They were dealing with cannon fodder now. They needed to get to their answers.

Soldier. A word that no one, not even Brady, would have associated with himself. In fact it was the farthest thing he ever wanted to be. Sure, playing HALO, Call of Duty and other game where he was blasting opponents away was fun and exciting, but they were just pixels on a screen. The blood was animated, the gore was CGI. There was nothing animated or CGIed about this situation.
The Iron Spider suit was working at maximum efficiency, the HUD inside his mask was identifying human targets per his new instructions, versus the automated Doombots. There weren't any buildings tall enough for him to use his webbing to swing with, but the waldoes were making up for that. They leapt and attached to the sides of buildings, carrying him along as he spun webs around the human enemies, binding them together, while the Doombots were mercilessly slung into each other, or into the automated armor units that were coming to the front to reinforce the ground troops.
Spiderman leans sideways as a blast from a nearby Doombot scorches the air by his head. "Hey! Don't 'Do' it...get it? Don't 'do' it! You know...hair'do'. Ugh...I give up." He throws his arms forward and depress his webshooters and dozens of golfball sized spherical globs of webbing issue from the nozzles. The web balls harden immediately and zip through the air like bullets, some piercing the Doombot's metal skin making them explode, some ricochet between other bots throwing them off balance and crashing into their fellow bots.
One Doombot lunges at Spiderman, but suddenly Spiderman's three silvery waldoes extend from his backplate, lift him off the ground, and the Doombot sails just under him, crashing into the ground in a jumbled heap of shattered metal and smoking wiring. "Whoopsie!" Spiderman hoots, and then looks over towards where Wolverine is piling into a large group of robots, with robot...and some human... arms, heads and torsos flying away in all different directions.

Re: Avengers: This Day
Captain America looked up as he saw Iron Man streak overhead, moving towards the formation of enemy aerial forces. “Burke, follow the plan. We have a plan for a reason.” He said into his communications device.
”The plan sucks. I’ve got a new plan. I’m going to do cool things. You guys watch.”
Iron Man’s repulsors shot down two of the oncoming drones, and then he began to bob and weave. As he did, compartments on his thighs opened up, and red energy flechettes shot outwards. Normally used for chaff, they had the added bonus of causing the drones to hit each other, as well as burn through the armor and hit the inner wiring and avionics. He grabbed one of the drones and spun in the air, throwing it hard down towards the ground, directly into one of the largest Doombot model tanks that was on the ground.
The explosion was brilliant, automatic glare detection causing his view screen to dim for a second or two. ”See, cool things? Admit it, it’s cool.”
“That was cool.”
”Brady, you work for me. You’re biased. However, in the spirit of generosity, I will accept. Never let it be said that I didn't do things for my fellow man.” Burke said, with a smile in side the suit. ”DATA, you were recording that, right?”
“Of course, sir.” Came the polished reply. “I believe I’ve already uploaded it to the Stark Mainframe and sent an embedded video email to Ms. Pera.”
“The things I do for my country.” Burke said. “Now, about that plan, Stars and Stripes. How’d it go? I might not have been paying attention.”

Re: Avengers: This Day
There were times when Ben wanted to toss his shield at Burke's head to knock some sense into him, but was never sure if it would actually do any good. But Ben also knew that Burke hid his own insecurities behind his smartass demeanor, which hid behind his armor technology. He was also a necessary cog in a much larger, and more important machine, and that was protecting the United States and the world that it resides in. The mission was far more important than all else.
"I'll try to use small words so you can understand them Burke." Cap snapped back while little to no humor in his tone.
"Ooo, the Flag made a snide remark. How insulting, I'll have to contact the local Human Resources and file a complaint."
Cap ignored the remark. "Look, I need you to take out the two energy artillery batteries that we are approaching near the enemy HQ 200 yards to our northeast..your HUD should be showing their location marked in red. Hold on...."
Cap suddenly flings his shield towards a group of soldiers that are coming up behind Wolverine. With unerring aim, the shield slams into the chest of a Doombot, ricochets to catch a human soldier in the side of his head and then rebounds off the neck of a third enemy Doombot, leaving all three on the ground before rebounding back towards Captain America. Instead of catching the shield on it's return arc, Cap ducks and the spinning vibranium disk slams into the face of a soldier that was sneaking up behind him and then Cap nimbly snatches the shield from the air on the return ricochet.
"...get them taken out now Burke." Ben finishes as he reattaches the shield to his forearm. "Everyone else, let's make the final push to their HQ, I have a feeling that there will be more surprises once we get there, so let's be prepared for anything!"

Re: Avengers: This Day
"I've got it covered, Cap." Iron Man said. "DATA, get me a flight plan."
"Shall I go for the usual, sir?"
"Everyone seems to be showing off a bit, let's go for theatrical." Iron Man said.
"A good decision."
"They're all I tend to make."
Captain America had been right. He could see the targets that he'd been given on the HUD, and then blue lined boxes began to appear, indicating the flight pattern that DATA had created. The Iron Man suit launched forward, manuevering through the air and repulsor beams started shooting out of the hands, knocking down targets on the ground as he flew past them. The energy artillery batteries were big, giant behemoths, and they had a large number of soldiers and Doombots guarding them. The two of them were shooting blasts that arced up in the air before splashing down. They were causing more damage to their own side than to the Avengers, but these soldiers on the ground, they were cannon fodder. Whoever was doing this clearly didn't care about losses.
Something else was going on. Vibranium could be used for a number of things, the applications were endless. Burke had utilized the substance more than once in the past, and he was wracking his brain coming up with a host of reasons as to why this enemy of theirs might have stolen such a copious amount from Wakanda. That part made sense. Coming here, to the Cape Verde islands, did not however. There was more to this than met the eye.
But that was why he was here. If anyone was going to be able to figure it out, it was Burke.
Targeting the closer of the two batteries, he fired a pair of pulse bolts. Picking up kinetic energy along the way, by the time they hit the battery, they'd be of sufficient speed and power that they should be able to knock out the battery. If his math was right. Then again, when was it ever wrong? They slammed into the base of the artillery piece, and there were explosions all around. This grabbed the attention of the soldiers and Doombots in the area, who turned and started firing at the red armored man who was hurtling towards them.
Banking to the left, he activated the advanced gyro stabilizers and suddenly angled to the right, creating a zig-zagging motion. As he did, he fired repulsor beam after repulsor beam into the artillery battery. This caused an overload of the battery itself, detonating it and wiping out the soldiers and Doombots who were there. With an unseen smile, Burke turned to look at the other artillery battery.
Just in time to take a blast from it full on. His shields kicked in at the last second, but the strength of the attack was able to knock him backwards, down towards the ground. As he tumbled, warning alarms went off, alerting him that the ground was coming up very quickly.
"Sir, we're going to faceplant, I believe the term is."
"Oh ye of little faith." Iron Man said to DATA, perfectly hovering at the last second. "DATA, we're going to have to talk after this."
"Indubitably. Might I suggest that we avoid the oncoming blast from the battery, so that said talk may take place?"
Iron Man looked up and smirked. "No, no, let it come." He said, activating the suit's ability to absorb ambient surrounding energy to repower the suit."
Suddenly he was awash in green energy, the ball of it slamming down around him. The suit pulled it all in, and let the charge run through the circuits. "Reports are that we're at two hundred and twenty six percent power."
"Time for the Uni-beam."
The artillery piece exploded in a brilliant display. "Now that's what I call a good show." Iron Man said, this time broadcasting across the spectrum. "I mean, you're welcome."

Re: Avengers: This Day
Ben moved through the squads of enemy combatants like a scythe, bashing forward with his colorful shield like a battering ram one moment, the next covering himself from a barrage of fire from them, which harmlessly bounded off the impervious metal of it.
All through the advance, he kept a constant eye on his team, calling out orders to shore up particular areas of their advance. Wonder Man was in front of him, virtually nothing that the enemy's ground forces had could stop him, as he slung human and Doombots alike before him.
At one point, he saw Spider-man actually hopping from one doombot head to the next, like a boy hopping on rocks to cross a stream. His mechanical waldoes sharp pointed tips taking full advantage of the vulnerable eye sockets of the droid. He could even hear the faint thwhips of his webshooters as they snagged the human combatants, and either cocooned them, or he tossed them over the limbs of some of the trees near the road, leaving them hanging there.
Burke was finally onboard with the team and was providing the air support that was his mission, and was periodically blasting larger groups with his repulsors, or screaming down from the sky and plowing into the front lines.
Hawkeye and Wolverine were to the left and right of him, with Ethan's unerring aim taking out enemies with various trick arrows that either exploded or used blunt force. Wolverine was roaring as he slashed enemy soldiers.
Finally, they slogged their way to the main courtyard of the Command Center, where they found several more armored tanks, their large bored barrels staring at the group, as well as several dozen more squads of human and droids alike. Strangely, the troops did not move, nor did the tanks fire upon them.
Suddenly the large double doors to the complex opened, and stepping out from the darkened interior, his hunter green hooded cloak bellowing in the whirl of wind, cold eyes stared out of the twin slots in the gleaming silvery gray mask. The man stood in front of the doors, his stance was one of superiority, his metal covered legs spread apart in defiance, while his armored arms and gauntleted hands rested on his hips.
"Doom..." Ben stated as the Avengers moved forward into the courtyard.

Re: Avengers: This Day
The eyes behind the mask lifted, taking in the supposedly impressive array of heroes in front of him. “We meet again.” He said, taking a slow step forward. The metallic clanging sound accompanied him as he walked. The Doombots kept their weapons trained on the group, as did the human soldiers, but no one fired. “Do you know why you’re here?” He asked.
“Yeah, cause they were out of Salsa Verde at the taco joint and we needed...” Spider-Man started but was cut off by a look from Captain America. One of the Waldoes made a zipping motion over his mouth.
“You stole from my country, and you killed my people.” Black Panther said, stepping forward. “I will give you a moment more to beg for mercy.” He said.
“Ah yes. The vibranium. A necessary item for what is about to happen. I suppose that’s an answer to the question. Actions have reactions. Cause and effect.”
“You’re not going to posture are you?” Iron Man asked. “Man, why do you guys always do the posturing. It’s not...it’s not smart.”
“Like at all.” Spider-Man said, before taking a step back when Captain America gave him another look. Two Waldoes made the zipping motion this time.
“We don’t want to cause more of a fight.” Captain America said, stepping forward. “But the Black Panther is right. You’ve stolen from Wakanda, and you’ve invaded the sovereign territory of another country.” He said. “I don’t know who you are behind that mask, but you will be facing a trial for this.”
“The only trial that I will be a part of is the one where I am both judge, jury, and executioner of you so called heroes.” Doom said. There was a high pitched whine that started to fill the room. Then tendrils of energy shot out from his now opened palms, striking out towards the heroes. “You don’t understand what it means to have power. All will fall before me. All will know Doom.”
The amassed Doombots and soldiers started opening fire.

Re: Avengers: This Day
Cap's lightning fast reflexes got his shield up only a fraction of a second before Doom's bolts struck it's polished surface. Cordiality went out the window at that moment in Ben's mind. Doom had broken International law, invaded a sovereign country, been given the option to surrender and had responded with lethal force.
"Play time is over." Ben stated as he withdrew his original Colt .45 1911, the very same one that Steve Rogers used during World War II, but the rounds with the clip were modernized, and specially made by S.H.I.E.L.D.. Doom's energy blast dissipated harmlessly off his shield, as he lowered it and quickly fired off two shots, the armor piercing rounds easily penetrating two of Doom's soldier's tactical armored vests, standing at his side, and dropping them to the ground.
"Here we go..." Spider-man leaps into the air, twisting and bending his body around several dozen rounds of fire that zipped by him, his legs moved into a mid-air split as a energy round sizzled the air between his legs. "Woah! Shooting at the jewels is not cool!" He quickly fired off several shots from his webshooters, the tracking display in his HUD pinpointing their targets. Six small globs of webbing streak through the air and plug the barrels of soldiers and Doombots alike, and harden immediately. The barrels explode with spectacular results as the enemy depresses their triggers, stunning and incapacitating themselves, and even some that were nearby due to the shrapnel.
Spiderman then comes down on the head of one Doombot, the force of which literally pushes the metallic head deep into the droid chest cavity, while he then literally begins hopscotching from one droid head to the next. His waldoes lashed out and grabbed the human soldiers and slung them high into the air, or into other soldiers knocking them into crumpled masses on the ground.
Ben had a moment to see how Brady was holding up after his moment of morality, and couldn't quite suppress the smile as he heard Spiderman whooping and howling as he tip toed cross the heads and shoulders of soldiers and droids like a kid using rocks to hop across a river.
"Iron Man, Wonder Man!" Cap yelled into his built in mask mic. "I need you two to take out those heavy droid units in the northeast quad."
"What about Doom?" Burke replied back. "You can't take him alone...let me..."
"God Dammit Burke, one time follow my damn orders! If you two don't take out those heavies, then the rest of the group will be exposed and they can pick us off one by one! This isn't my first rodeo Burke, you handle that, and I'll handle Doom until you finish those units off!"
Without waiting for a reply, Captain America ran forward towards Doom, his shield out before him blocking incoming rounds, or bashing through a soldier that was foolish enough to get in his way. He emptied his clip as he rushed forward, taking out soldiers and droids alike with well placed shots, holstered it, and then without missing a stride, he scooped up one of Doom's soldiers energy blaster and continued firing.
"You are indeed a noble and courageous man Captain America...but both of those attributes still make you a fool to think you can stand against my raw might."
"You might be surprised.." Ben stated and then clenched his teeth as the two clashed together. Cap's shield made a resounding clang as Doom's armored fist connected against the red, white and blue.

Re: Avengers: This Day
It wasn’t often that Sean Toretto faced a moment that caused him to have a little awe. This was because he simply brushed past most of life, not really caring that much about everything around him unless it directly affected him. Beautiful view? Didn’t phase him. Beautiful music? Nope, didn’t care. Energy shot to the chest?
Hurt like a bitch.
He was on the ground, a moment later, clutching at his chest. Taking the blast full force, that had been a bit unwise. Then again, he’d never faced anyone quite like Dr. Doom, so he didn’t know how well he would hold up against it. So, this couldn’t hurt him that much. Getting up, Sean looked at where Doom was. Now you could tell him apart better from the rest of the Doombots. They were still more mechanical in their motions, and they weren’t using the same style of attacks as he was. Also, Captain America hadn’t latched onto any other Doom...looking...bot.
Without bothering for instruction, Sean took off. Accelerating through the air, he slammed into Dr. Doom, as the other man was in mid punch towards Captain America. They went barreling through a tank and out the other end. Sean stood over Dr. Doom, looking down at the man and smiled. “So, we should talk. Don’t do that again and I won’t ha-”
He never finished the sentence
Behind the mask, Doom whispered something or other and then Sean was struck by another attack. Except that this one hurt. Worse.
Thrown up in the air, he was pinned to the ceiling as magical, mystical energies wreaked havoc on him. The scream that he yelled out came unbidden, uncalled for. But unstoppable. Then he was dropped to the ground. Doom looked at him and then up at Captain America who had leapt over the tank and was now standing nearby.
“Captain?” He asked. “Shall we, now that the servants have been disposed of?”

Re: Avengers: This Day
“You’re not getting out of here.” Captain America said. “You’re going to pay for that. For Wakanda.”
“Doubtful, Captain.” Doom said. “But dispense with the posturing. We’re wasting valuable time.”
The Captain moved forward and Doom took a step back, bracing himself for the fight that he found himself in. Doom was not a good hand to hand combatant, and he knew it. Especially not up against someone such as Captain America. Holding his arms up in an X, Doom blocked an attack from Cap’s shield. He in turn reached out and slammed his hands into the Captain’s chest, firing concussive bolts at point blank range. Though the man in red, white, and blue was thrown backwards, in mid air he slung the shield as hard as he could. It hit Doom square on, knocking him backwards himself.
Landing on his feet, Davis grabbed the shield as he ran forward, leaping up and bringing the shield down. Doom skidded to the side and turned, as Davis’ fist launched out, connecting with the side of Doom’s head. There was a sharp sound that emanated from Doom, robotic in nature as he turned, his voice modulator getting hit. He turned and looked at Captain America and swung.
His fist missed, as the other man ducked and came around him. Planting a kick in Doom’s back, Captain America forced the green cloaked man to stumble forward. When Doom turned, his opponent was on top of him, striking as hard as he could, forcing Doom back further and further.
“Enough!” Doom said, with a crackle of electricity.
He pressed a button on his wrist gauntlets and then watched as three heavily armored Doombots appeared near him.
“Coward.” Captain America said.
“You call it cowardice, Captain, I call it strategic planning. When these days are done and I record these moments in the annals of history, posterity shall only know that Doom triumphed over a man dwarfed by the shadows cast by those who served before him. You are not Brian Grace. You are not Derrek Sheppard. You are not Steve Rogers. Your loyalty to the uniform is admirable, but misplaced.”
“I’m loyal to nothing...except the Dream.”
“As I stated. Misplaced.” Doom said, as the Doombots approached. “A dark day is coming, Captain. Pray that your vaunted ‘Dream’ can withstand the impending nightmare.”
After that, Doom seemingly disappeared.

Re: Avengers: This Day
Davis grumbled as Doom winked from existence, but he had no time to think about it as the three heavy droids began unloading their ordinance at him. Quickly he launched his shield at them, where he ricocheted off each of their heads causing them to sway slightly, giving him the distraction that he needed to roll to cover behind the corner of the building, before the shield perfectly rebounded into his hand.
"Doom has disappeared!" Davis yelled into his comm unit. "He must have had some sort of teleporter device on him. we need to regroup on my position. I have three heavies on me." He was rewarded with the sound of static. He could hear an intense battle going on back towards the courtyard, but because of Wonder Man's attack on Doom, it had pushed them out of view. Now here he was faced up against three heavy units...well...he had been in worse situations.
Steeling himself, he launched himself around the corner of the building, his shield before him. The first unit unleashed a powerful energy blast from it's wrist-mounted blaster which dinged off his shield, allowing him to run between the legs of the first unit. Davis swung his shield at the vulnerable joint of the droid's leg, the vibranium edge easily cutting through the servos and causing the machine to fall to it's damaged leg's knees. Davis leapt up and brought his shield down at the neck joint and while holding the shield dropped back to the ground, the head of the droid sparked brightly and literally popped off the droid and flew into the air.
Cap landed nimbly on the ground and was met with the dual barrels of the two remaining giant Doombots pointing at him from only meters away, the insides of the barrels began to glow as the energy inside them began to erupt. Cap had no time to bring his shield up and was fully prepared...when suddenly.
"WAHOOOOO!!"
The head of the Doombot that Cap had trashed suddenly came in at an arc, a thin gray webline attached to it, and bashed into the side of one of the Doombot's head, causing it's armored body to tilt into the one next to it. Both the bots shots blasted a huge crater into the ground next to Captain American, who had just enough time to throw up his shield to take the brunt of the explosion, but still throwing him to the ground some distance away.
Spider-man landed on the side of the building and waggled his finger at the two recovering Doombots. "No, no no! Bad Robots!" Spidey seemed to ponder for a second. "Hmmm, I wonder if JJ Abrams can sue me for that?"
"Oh shit..." His Spider Senses were blaring just as he leapt from the side of the building as the two Doombots fired off twin blasts destroying the spot he was adhered to only a millisecond before. Spider-man fired off two thick strands of webbing that hit both Doombots in the faceplates completely covering their visual units.
"Uh hey guys, anyone else wanna get in on the action, or do I have to do everything?"

Re: Avengers: This Day
Repulsor blasts hit one of the Doombots, causing it to reel backwards. Iron Man appeared, shooting it again, but this time it got something approximating a shield up, and the repulsor beams splashed over the energy shield. In response to this, Iron Man flew through the air, going through the Doombot with a subsequent, Burke approved explosion. Iron Man hovered in the air and turned, looking at the remaining bot. It had swiped at it’s eyes and now it could see again. It looked at the man and then fired a shot from it’s own repulsors, but Iron Man evaded. Moving forward, it tried to grab him, but he was able to evade that as well. This movement kept the Doombot’s attention focused on him, which allowed one of his comrades to jump into the fight.
It was Spider-Man who jumped forward, waldoes at the ready. He latched onto the Doombot and the waldoes moved, tearing into the Doombot until the front of it was unrecognizable. With a backflip, Spiderman landed on the ground and surveyed his handiwork.
“It's like...I’m an artist.” He said.
“Spiderasso?” Iron Man asked, floating until he settled down next to him.
“Spiderdor Dali.” Brady replied.
“Spiderbrandt.” Iron Man offered with a shrug.
“Spideronet.” Brady said, with a thumbs up.
“Spider Van Gogh.”
“Spider-Man Go.”
“He just said that.” Brady said, looking over his shoulder at Cap. “You don’t listen.” He said and looked back at Iron Man. “He doesn’t listen.”
“We should make him a hearing aid.”
“Spider-Man.” Captain America said again. “Go. We need to get a move on and get the rest of the team on the way. We need to find Doom.”

Re: Avengers: This Day
Doombot after Doombot fell before the Avengers. Wonder Man was revived, thanks to Spider-Man standing on top of him and smacking him repeatedly in the head, until he came to. Brady had had to do a number of backflips to get away from Toretto after that. Toretto for his part had just been pissed that Doom had managed to get him.
Captain America had had to listen to the former Army Ranger spout a few choice epithets and vow that Doom would never get him like that again. Then he’d started to marshal the team.
Grace had done a good job putting this team together. But the team itself was combustible. They were rarely on the same page, and they didn’t listen. He understood the reason for that. How could they be a team when their leader couldn’t get them to follow? That was something that Davis needed to work on. He understood the choices that Grace had made, to choose these people. The savagery of Wolverine. The genius of Iron Man. The raw power of Wonder Man. The unpredictability of Spider-Man. Black Panther, though not chosen by Grace but gathered by circumstance, for his refusal to quit.
What had he been chosen for? Him, Benjamin Davis. Exposed to the Super Soldier Serum and carrying a shield that had been carried by great men before him.
He had been chosen for his leadership.
As the Doombots fell, it was Iron Man who saw the floating hunk of rock. “Captain, I think we have our answer.” He said.
“We totally don’t know where that goes.” Spider-Man said, one of his Waldoes fixated on the greyish cloudy circle that hung above the rock, as he flew through the air, attacking a Doombot. “It could go to Wonder Man’s laundry bag.”
“We could use the jock straps to knock Doom out.” Sean said.
“That’d be the only contribution you give, bub.” Wolverine said.
“Banter is not appreciated at this junction in time.” Captain America said, as his shield came back to him from ricocheting off of a soldier’s chest, breaking two ribs in the process. “Iron Man, do you detect anything with that portal?”
“I can’t tell you where it goes, if that’s what you’re asking.” Iron Man replied.
“To borrow a Western phrase, down the rabbit hole.” Black Panther said.
Interestingly enough, to Captain America, this entire conversation was held while the team was battling Doombots. Maybe they weren’t so dysfunctional after all, at the end of the day. “King T’Shon is right. We don’t know where it goes, and we won’t know unless we find out.” He jumped and landed on the rock, propelling himself off of a Doombot that had been flying through the air, courtesy of Wolverine.
“I didn’t pack enough underwear.” Spider-Man said, landing next to him. “Also, is this like apparating from Harry Potter?”
Iron Man landed next, with a clang. Wolverine was the one after that. As Wonder Man flew to the rock, he and Iron Man fired distance attacks at the oncoming Doombot horde.
“Either we go now, or we won’t have a chance.” T’Shon said, appearing near the machine. “The portal isn’t designed to be left open that long.” He looked at Captain America. “Regardless of what you choose to do, I am going through the portal. Doom went through there, I know it. Where he goes, I go, until I exact my revenge.” He said, and disappeared through it.
Captain America nodded and went through next. Followed by Wolverine and Toretto. Iron Man and Spider-Man were the remaining too.
“That’s some next level dynast-” Spider-Man said, but was cut off, pushed through the portal by Iron Man who followed him.
The portal closed.

Five Minutes Prior...
Looking for Doom himself was difficult. But then again, those looking for him were peasants.
He was not that surprised that their ineptitude was so evident. These fools thought that they could challenge Doom, that their levels of mastery over their respective craft put them even in the same echelon as himself. They were nowhere near his level. Doom stood on a floating hunk of rock and earth, roughly a hundred yards in diameter. Before him was a generator of immense power. In the generator, at it’s core, was the Vibranium that he had liberated from the undeserving hands of the King of Wakanda. Taking it had been easy. Child’s play. This was going to the next step. Turning the generator on, he stepped back, focusing his mystical energies.
For years people had laughed at the gypsies. Had made fun of them, considered them to be second class citizens of the world. He would show them. he would show them the true power of gypsy magic. Harnessing a force of power that would have made Stephen Strange shiver, that was just the start. Strange would have shivered at the thought of the power that coursed through Doom’s veins, that one man could wield such destructive powers.
And the Sorcerer Supreme would have wept that he was a man of such limited vision of such limited scope that he could not begin to fathom that same power.
But Doom could. Doom could understand it. He could control it and he could manipulate. He could use it, with the Vibranium reflecting it back upon himself, to open a portal. A portal that would take him from this realm, this plane of existence and one that was bound by such mortal minds. It would transport him, teleport him through space and through time. Until he reached his destination. Earth was called many names by many people. Some of them were from this place, this realm. Doom was traveling to a place that called Earth by another name. He was going to a place that called this place Aesheim once. But now they called it Midgard.
He was going to Asgard.
Captain America had had to listen to the former Army Ranger spout a few choice epithets and vow that Doom would never get him like that again. Then he’d started to marshal the team.

The group stepped off the now fading Asgardian runes that were created by the transportation on the Bi-Frost Bridge. Thor strode forward looking at the new surroundings, while Ben stood next to Burke and Brady.
"The Vangard crew made quick work of the debris." Ben noted, though he kept his eyes on Thor. "No doubt they are already researching the parts, filing them and beginning to figure out new ways to use them."
"Don't worry, I have fully scanned HD images of it all and my people will no doubt be doing the same." Burke replied and added with a smirk. "And we'll have it faster and better than your government flobs."
"We have the best engineers Burke, stop being such a egomanic."
"If they were the best, they would be working for me."
"Ooo, burn to the Red, White and Blue!" Brady stated and held up his hand, which Burke promptly gave a high-five to.
"Damn skippy."
Ben just rolled his eyes with a sigh. "And now we have a God walking among us." He said nodding toward Thor.
"Well, if Doomsie gets ahold of more of the Infinity Gems, we're going to need him." Brady said while staring at the Demi-God in front of them.
Ben nodded. "I have read the classified reports on when Thanos first gathered them a couple decades ago. It took the combined might of nearly every super back in that time to stop him."
"Still...I can't help but see there is a growing power base being built back up on our world. We've gone almost two decades of a peaceful-ish existence since the Chrell Invasion, a re-building period if you will. Now supers are popping out of the woodwork. It's as if we are coming back full circle to the days before the invasion."
"Uh huh....but it's fucking Thor!" Brady said slipping back into his hero-worship voice, and completely missing the whole meaning of Cap's words. "And he hit me...and I'm still here!!"
"Kid's got a one track mind." Toretto stated as he stepped up to the group.
"He knocked you on your ass Wonder Bread." Brady sniped back in a good natured, brotherly way. He knew only too well that Toretto saved his ass back in Asgard. "Didn't you eat your Wheaties this morning before we left?"
"No, but I'm about to get a can of Raid and kill a pest."
Spider-man's lower half of his mask raised up and he stuck his tongue out at Toretto and then leapt into the air and landed lightly on Thor's broad shoulder, which did not even sag in the slightest at Spider-man's light weight.
"So, uh...Thor. No hard feelings?" He asked pensively
"Hard feelings?" Thor asked.
"Uh..your not going to hold a grudge for our little...fight?"
Thor's lips broadened into a good-hearted smile and he chuckled lightly. "Nay Little Spider. Tho thou art brash with thine words to the point of insulting. Thor understands that your mockery 'tis of good strategy, and distracts your opponents. Plus, thou art a worthy opponent with your speed, and surprising with such strength in such a frail looking body."
"I told you!" Toretto yelled out with a grin.
Spider-man flipped the bird at Toretto behind Thor's winged helm. "Well, I just want you to know that you're one of my favorite heroes of all time, I mean when you went up against...."
"Spider-man! Cap yelled out and then gave him a look.
"Errrr,...right...What I mean is you're one of my favorite mythological heroes from my history studies."
"Myth?" Thor looked at him quizzically.
"Well, uh...I mean, here on Earth, or what you call Midgard, your known only as a legendary figure of myth." Brady stammered.
"But I am known, correct?"
"Aaaaaanndd how." Brady exaggerated.
Thor chuckled again. "Verily, I am beginning to enjoy your company Little Spider. Your brash and bold. Traits worthy of a fine Asgardian Warrior!"
With that Spider-man smiled proudly and flipped a double bird behind his own head at Toretto with both hands.

"Well, now that we've all made up and settled into this little pow-wow session," Wolverine chimed in, "maybe we ought to be focusin' on this threat Doom poses. If this guy is becoming god-like, we got a serious issue on our hands."
Wolverine, while shorter in comparison to the rest of the bunch, was no pushover, and despite his size he had the mass and persona to make up for any perceived drawbacks about him. There had been many a foe that thought less of him than what met the eye, and many of them had wound up in the hospital, or worse. "Doom'll be givin' us a run for our money if we don't come up with a plan to stop him. An' I'm pretty sure that fishing for compliments from a god isn't gonna do shit."
"Well, your plan typically seems to be to pop those claws of yours and figure it out as you go along," Brady said.
"More effective than that mouth of yers, bub," he retorted. The claws came out. "Least these get results. How many have you defeated by calling them names?" He paused, but before Brady could say something, he continued, "You talk like a hotshot, webhead, but you ain't got no bite to your bark."
Spider-Man leapt in front on Wolverine and looked at him square in the eyes. "Maybe I ought to put it to the test."
Wolverine brought up his right fist, claws still out. A sneer came to his face, as he matched Brady's faceoff attempt. "Any time, bub."

Re: Avengers: This Day
The faceplate slid away to show Burke’s face. “I think we should be okay without any fighting. Fighting is bad.” He said, with a serious look on his face. He got a few pings from DATA about information that Stark satellites had picked up from the island, and gave an unseen smirk that his people had indeed gotten results faster than Vanguard’s own. In the distance, the group could see a Quinjet leading a group of similarly made Quinjets flying towards the island.
“Captain, I believe that this is your department.” Burke said. “Meeting with the little people and all.” He added for benefit.
“Right.” Benjamin said and started to walk forward as the lead Quinjet landed.
Brian Grace stepped out of the Quinjet and started walking towards the team. “How did everything go?” He asked. “We registered four energy signatures of similar make, but somewhat foreign to our databases and...” He stopped. “That’s Thor.” He said, pointing.
“Isn’t he cool?” Brady asked.
Toretto reached up and flicked Brady in the side of the head.
“Asgard then.” Grace said.
“Nothing gets by you.” Burke said. “We’ve got an issue with Doom, and he’s going after something called the Infinity Gems. He’s already got one of them, and we need to figure out where the rest of them are before he does. He’s clearly a few steps ahead.” Burke said.
Benjamin turned. “Wasn’t it my job to deal with the ‘little people’, Burke?” He asked.
“How dare you insinuate that Director Grace is anything but the largest of persons. That’s an affront on so many levels.” Burke said. The man clad in red armor gave Captain America a sincere looking smile.
Benjamin sighed and looked back at Brian.
Brian’s eyes narrowed. He already didn’t like Ben as it was.
“We’ll talk about this more when we get back to headquarters. It shouldn’t be that long of a flight.”
