At Halcyon’s request, I’m making a voting thread to decide whether or not Barab I should remain a NR world on the map.
I think it’s safe to say that the history of Barabels on Exodus is tied in most closely with me. Like Mir and the Bothans, or Cadden and the Mandalorians, one could say I’m the resident Barabel player on the boards. I’m generally championing them and encouraging others to RP Barabel characters when such things come up.
Way back on the Sony boards, I had two Barabel characters. One was Skarrek, who first made his appearance as an assassin for Black Sun and has since gone on to be one of my main characters, even going so far as to fight GAIT during the Xen’Chi War. The other was Rashrak, who was the officially recognized NR Senator for Barab I at the time.
Wiki entries (though both need some updating):
http://starwars-exodus.wikia.com/wiki/Skarrek
http://starwars-exodus.wikia.com/wiki/Rashrak
I also went to great pains on our wiki to make the entries for Barab I and the Barabels to be as complete and exhaustive as possible; such is my fondness for those reptiles.
More wiki entries:
http://starwars-exodus.wikia.com/wiki/Barabel
http://starwars-exodus.wikia.com/wiki/Barab_I
Now, back in March of 2005 I made a thread detailing Skarrek’s return to his homeworld (he was taken from it at a young age by slavers) and the inherent complications that resulted from it. The thread can still be found here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4839
Admittedly the thread was never finished, but that’s not a new concept for Exodus. I think it’s clear what direction the thread was heading in before Coal disappeared. If not, it’s clearly spelled out in Skarrek and Barab I’s wiki entry and has been since 2007. It’s also been referenced in later threads that Barab I is a neutral world since Skarrek’s visit.
All of this is just to say that Barab I’s leaving the New Republic wasn’t an arbitrary thing I did one day. It had a story behind it which I took the time to write. Now if Barab I was an important Republic world, I could see some problem with making it neutral, but honestly, Barab I is probably one of the least important worlds they could have. It’s a backwater planet with few resources to speak of. The most notable thing about it are probably the Barabels themselves. A neutral Barab I certainly doesn’t preclude individual Barabels from joining the NR either.
All I’m asking for is that it remains neutral as has been established in Exodus canon. I was never consulted when it was changed back to a NR planet, and as far as I know, it wasn’t even mentioned IC before it was changed on the map. I’ve tried asking on two separate occasions to change it back. Halcyon wants a board consensus before he does, and while I don’t think it should be necessary considering the above, I’m doing it anyway to hopefully get this squared away.
Halcyon is free to add his side of it. I’ll leave the thread up for two weeks.

Re: Barab I: Neutral or NR?
I've been referenced! I feel special!
Anyway, I've always been a proponent of the "philosophy" that was has been RPed trumps over whether the community wishes to veto it or not. You can't just simply take Coruscant away from the Empire, for example, just because you're in disagreement over the planet being theirs. If it's been RPed shifting into their hands, then it's theirs.

I believe Halcyon's side of the whole thing is simple..
"Follow the rules, and I'll change it."
Pretty simple side really, don't think he cares one way or the other.

Re: Barab I: Neutral or NR?
You've never provided any links of activity in any of the map updates. Technically speaking the rule was 3 months of no RP a canon planet switches to canon allegiance. Then it was changed to 6 months. And currently it is the RPer has to be active. You never posted/PMed thread links for the last 4 map updates. Someone (I don't even remember who) asked me to change it to NR. According to the Rules it defaulted over to the NR anyways. You complained I asked you to post on the board and ask you didn't. This time you finally do. This is all I wanted you to do in the first place.
Edit: I even voted neutral now that evidence is actually presented.

I don't know what you're talking about, everyone always finishes their threads. Especially me!Admittedly the thread was never finished, but that’s not a new concept for Exodus.

Considering how overwhelming the vote is, I'm only going to leave this up for seven days instead.

Don't even bother. The planet is already changed so go ahead and just remove it.Halomek wrote:Considering how overwhelming the vote is, I'm only going to leave this up for seven days instead.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it, Halo. It already has a majority vote by count of who actually RPs on the MBT... I'd just call it good at where it stands.

Re: Barab I: Neutral or NR?
Works for me. This topic is now locked and unstickied. Voting is closed. Barab I stays neutral.
